A decent Petco in the area. There was a grooming and adoption area. I can't say much about those services since I haven't used it. The store was organized and well stocked. You can find all of your pet needs there. I decided to check out the pet section for my toddler since he loves hamsters.They had a pretty big fish section. They had a bunch of beta fishes separate from the others for obvious reasons. There was a bird cage with a few beautiful parakeets. There were plenty of guinea pigs, mice, rats, gerbils, and hamsters. The animals looked well fed and the cages were clean.

There's no one else I'd trust for my pup's grooming needs than Erica! She always does a fantastic job. And she's one of the nicest people. Such peace of mind knowing my little loves are in good hands.

Store usually is well stocked. Staff are helpful if needed, but do not go out of their way. Adequate to find most pet needs. Petco tends to run good specials.

Really sweet & helpful staff. Special thank you to the girl that works there, not sure her name but I believe she’s new. She turned a very sad situation for my kids into a positive one. We lost our pet tortoise and to cheer my kids up, she took them over to the hamster section and had the kids play with them until they felt a little bit better.

We had a great experience this morning at Petco in Avon. Took our 2 doggos in for nail trims and Erica took them in and did a phenomenal job. Our usually anxious long-haired mini dachshund was the perfect student. Erica was very pleased with how she behaved, as were we. And our rescue mountain cur also did very well. Would absolutely recommend this store and Erica!!

I was there for a long time because I was reading ingredients on freeze dried food, because for the best quality bones should not be listed as a healthy ingredient. I have been learning a lot about foods for my dogs.

Stock/variety was poor. Out of lots of product. At checkout, I had 7 items and there were no bags. No bags! When does that happen in retail? And the clerk didn’t even tell me. He just left everything on the checkout counter for me to deal with. Offered no assistance whatsoever. I will probably never return to the store.

Very helpful store, but don't go in there after having birthday Margaritas next door. You end up spending $200 on a bearded dragon and all its supplies. 😁🤣😂 The staff was knowledgable, patient, and tolerant of me and my friend though.

The groomers really care and are good! Easy to get an appointment! Lots of available hour selections and loads of special services to choose from. I have Waldo (English Creme) who is 12 and loves his baths. Pax (English Black Lab) is 10 and loves the attention. Don't forget to tip!

Cashier tried to trick me into signing up for the new rewards plan without telling me there was a monthly subscription fee for it. Kept telling me that I should "just hit OK" without reading the information, then kept trying to avoid telling me what the fee was when I asked several times. Sketchy as hell and I will not be back!

I made an appointment and brought my dog into the Simsbury/Avon Petco to be groomed, and all they did was give her a bath and clip her nails. No wonder the bill was so cheap. Ended up having to go somewhere else a few days later to be groomed.A complete waste of my time.

Do not let these groomers touch your pets. If I could give negative stars I would. I have a miniature Australian Shepherd with a double coat, and they shaved her.Double coats provide a layer of protection against the external environment for the dog. Shaving it away removes that protective layer, resulting in insufficient protection from temperature, parasites, sun damage, and wind. Shaving also damages the coat because it doesn't regrow in the same fashion. My dogs coat will never look the same again and is already suffering from frequent skin irritation due to the lack of protection. These people know nothing about dogs, and quite literally ruined my poor dogs coat forever. Shameful, grooming department should be shut down.

This petco sucks. Walk up and says cash only and then I run across the street to get cash and come in and they don't even have the size of dog food I normally get. Only massively large or really small.

(back story) my girlfriend is a first time cat owner and has never had a pet in her life so she was really excited and also very worried about what she needs to take care of the dang thing. She had been asking friends for advice and really did not get much out of them besides the "its easy cats take care of themselves". We decided to go to Petco after visiting some local pet shops and not having any luck. The associate Tory (apologies If the name is spelled wrong) came up to us with a smile and asked if we needed help. Obviously my male instinct was to say no, but my girlfriend practically jumped and said "yes we do!" Tory, I would say talked to us for about 45 minutes without a skip. I need to give all the credit to Tory. He immediately realized the situation we were in told us everything we need from litter to scratch posts to everything! His knowledge of the products was amazing and you could tell he genuinely has a love for not only helping people but helping people with their pets. I felt a bond between us and Tory to where I could honestly trust his advice and he made it an engaging conversation, making sure all of the girlfriends questions were not only answered but understood (and there were a lot of questions). I don't think many retail employees would have taken the time to really involve themselves and care the way Tory did. He is the prime example of a fantastic employee who exemplifies everything thing Petco and general business stands for. The world needs more of these people and we are so happy about the experience we had at this location. Since we are moving into the area soon you can bet that this will be our #1 pet shop and we look forward to seeing Tory and even bringing in the cat so he can see her! :)

No direction or signage for vetco clinic anywhere in the store. Vet staff very nice and caring for my dogs. Cashier standing around staring into space while I waited a solid 5 minutes at the front of the checkout line.

My dog baxter is so scared of being groomed. Thank you to the staff at avon petco for being so king and patient with him. Great baths/ haircuts, always paying attention to his coat and letting me know if they noticed something wrong. U guys rock!

If you don't know proper care of an animal you probably shouldn't be selling them!Hermit crabs breathe the HUMIDITY in the air NOT THE ACTUAL AIR!Everytime I go in to get supplies the tanks heat is low and the humidity is even lower. It's quite sad to see. There's an easy fix but I guess you'd have to actually care about them to do anything about it.

I drive a long way to buy my fish here because the fish section is immaculate. Kevin in fish knows his stuff and helped my daughter set up her first fish tank. Good selection of dog items too and very friendly staff. I enjoy shopping here.

Took my puppy pants to get a bath with Leanne and she was wonderful. Our pitty is terrified of baths and she handled him well. Did the best job on his nails too... most places leave nails sharp so the dog ends up scratching you to pieces after they're trimmed, his were super smooth. She only took an hour and he was like a new pitty again.I also started doing auto delivery on our dogs food and it's super simple and I never have to worry about if I'm going to be out of work in time before they close.

I take my dog for grooming and the girls are just wonderful. They do a first rate grooming job and are naturals at calming a nervous dog. They are also friendly and professional with pet owners. It's been a year and I wouldn't go anywhere else!
