This Goodwill is a nightmare. From hideous outdated candy at more than store pricing to headless leprechauns figures that scare the kids it’s unbelievable. For such an affluent town as Avon most donations must be going out the back door. Management is unintelligible. Every time I have gone here recently it’s dirty, trash-scattered floor is reminiscent of a developing country. Sorry but this place is truly disgraceful and I have the photos to prove it. Pass this place by. And do not donate here.

I’m extremely disappointed with my experience from this goodwill. I tend to go shop at resale stores often because it’s a lot better and I can always find good stuff. But the most important thing about shopping is customer service. I work at a restaurant and I understand how it can be. I was in today and I overheard what it seemed as one of the managers raising her voice at one of the employees which made me feel uncomfortable. If you ask me, I think it’s a bit disrespectful especially to the customers walking around. If this is only one interaction that I saw, I can’t even imagine how often this goes on. Do better goodwill.

This Goodwill was a bit cluttered; they had carriages in random spots piled up throughout the store. The clothes were hung on the ends of the rack. I think people were just throwing it anywhere. There was a jacket that was hung on the end of the rack near the dressing rooms; I thought it might've belonged to someone, but then I saw a tag on it. This worked out in a way because I liked the jacket and purchased it.Other than that, it is a typical Goodwill; just look for the color of the week to get additional savings. I found some good deals. That jacket was from the Gap and I got it for $15; that's cheap for a name brand.

Pricing of old and used clothes are expensive! you can buy same brand and new to tjmaxx or marshall for the same price! I wonder how they came up with the pricing. Anyway, one lady from cashier seems not happy because most of the glass and plates, jar, mug, we bought are with $1 tag and she cant believe with the price, maybe she is expecting more and that person in-charge doing the pricing done it wrong!. The only one I like in this place is the location and the parking area. The arrangement of the items are confusing, they need to staff more to arrange the items as it looks junk on a shelf.

would be nicer if the teens who work there didn't hoard the nice clothes in the children's section to buy for even cheaper. might want to do something about that

Despite what the recording when you call says, the drop-off hours end at 5:00PM not 7:00PM. Don’t want anyone else to waste a trip out in the evening.

Price are $$$$$$$,I thought goodwill help make item affordable for people who can't afford shop in regular retail .price are higher depends of the manager how is working that day. Goodwill is selling target items more expensive than target

Way overpriced for donated, used items. Owners & execs are OVERPAID. Their hours are terrible too

Went Sat. am and the store was wall-to-wall people. My buddy and I checked out the merch and she found a practically brand new pet leash. I found a 2 piece veggie steamer for $1. However, the floor needs a sweep asap.

Omg this has to be the worst retail experience I've ever had. I have been a loyal shopper at this location since it opened. Never have. I heard a manager abscond and employee in front of customers on the sales floor like I did the other day. She was absolutely Appalling! When I asked the employee if she was okay, they replied it happens all the time. The price is in the last month have gone through the roof. Sales floor is absolutely filthy. I would have to say that I spend at least $200 a week there. That will no longer be the case as long as she is working there.

Great experience. They have lots of cute furniture and the staff is so kind in fact there were a couple errors with the charges and they were kind enough to let me come back in and correct everything. Since it's always final sale at Goodwill this went above and beyond in terms of customer service and honesty. I purchased so many items that were all dresses so it was not easy to see the mistakes (we all make them) but I am so glad the manager was able to correct the charges and showed me some other items that I bought and love. This is definitely a wonderful place to shop if you love to thrift and that service was exemplary! Thank you all!

After moving, this has become my new "home" Goodwill. Some of the prices on items seem steep, but you'll find that at any thrift store you go to nowadays. Thrifting has become more popular, and the CEO's are cashing out. This store is good for women's clothing, children's clothing, children's toys, and dinnerware. There is a very large section for children and I have found the majority of it to be reasonably priced. The furniture is typically overpriced and general home decor tends to be broken/dirty, so I just skip these sections. I have no issue with the majority of the staff. There are a few key faces I see regularly and they have always been friendly to me. There is one shelf stocker in particular who has always been very diligent on the floor and friendly with both staff and customer. However, I recently had an issue at this location. I was there with my partner and we had found a game system resting on top of the valuables case that my partner wanted. We got in line to purchase it, but the cashier found no sticker on it. She called up a manager for us who began looking the item up (I'm sure just trying to price match it online). The manager did not really greet or speak to us. The cashier continued chatting with us while we waited. The "manager" told the cashier that she had to take it to the back to be repriced and left. We tried to ask the cashier how long it might be until we would see it again, as we were still very interested in purchasing, but she was unsure. We feel this was very poor service. The manager could have offered us a price for a similar system or gotten it repriced promptly, but instead felt the need to take it from us (without ever fully engaging with us) to have it repriced so the store could make the most money off it. Goodwill is supposed to give back to the community, yes through it's donation efforts, but also through it's *sales to customers*. We, the customers, are also the community. It feels cruel that they would deny us purchases and charge as much as possible whenever they can. I have since revisited several times just to check on that case to see if our item has reappeared with no luck. The actions of the manager on this day and the poor experience as a whole has soured my view of this Goodwill location.

The prices were very inconsistent, they had a few items from Target donations that they marked higher than the clearance price at Target. Also the manager on the day I shopped there was highly unprofessional. She berated a young cashier for making a minimal error. The poor young man was so nice, that I felt the need to come to his defense.

Store had a good variety of house decor and womens & kids shoes/clothes and was cleanly. But the reason for the 1 star rating is because when i walked in my partner and I saw a couch for sale in very good condition and wanted to purchase it. Did not have a sold sign so my partner asked an employee to purchase it. She (manager-in-training with a slight attitude) comes over and proceeds to ask "wheres the sold ticket that was here? If someone has it it needs to be put back" almost insinuating we/someone had taken it off, which we hadnt. We reply back stating when we walked in we saw no sold ticket on the couch. Then she follows by saying that the couch was put out this morning/today(10/31/22) and shell check to see if its not sold cause if it is shell get in trouble for selling it to someone else (which is understandable). So she goes and checks the purchased receipts book and then leaves us waiting by the couch while shes at the registers almost trying to avoid us but glancing over at us every few min. then walks over and says 'its was not for sale' even though it didnt have a sold sign and after her checking the book and tells us someone in the store might have the ticket. She then gives us a number to call for IF someone doesnt purchase the couch by tonight/tomorrow. So we take the paper and leave. (Mind you we live 35 min away) partner calls back 3 hours later and we're told by a manager couch IS available but were already home. I dont understand what her problem was or why she wouldnt sell us the couch even after another employee stated it was available for purchase when we were there. There was no reason to act how she did. I think it was rude and unprofessional of her and even though i dont want to make it about race i feel like it was in a sense because we were the only ones she treated this way at the store. Hopefully others who arent yt dont have to go through the same scenario as us. But all in all, we wont be going back. If you arent caucasian or look like you dont have money, save yourself the trouble from this type of experience.

One of the best Goodwills I have shopped at in CT. Lots of new with tags clothing. I always try to buy whatever color stick is half off that day. The store as a whole was very well organized. Will definitely be back!

Used to be the best goodwill but now there are professional thrifters that live at the store 24x7 and the second the employees bring out the cart rummage through it before they even have a chance to put it on shelves. Disappointing......please start donating to different stores.

Pricing increases are becoming insane on items that just aren’t worth their asking sticker rates. It’s nonsense to claim the prices must increase to continue supporting their “local mission”. As a weekly customer I’m finding the daytime management to have zero interest in providing friendly or helpful service. Most the the staff is more than kind and helpful- a shame they’re stuck with their terrible management.

Just because the proceeds go to a good cause - doesn’t mean it’s right to charge astronomical prices. I shop at goodwill because of the state of the economy. Can’t afford food, can’t afford new clothes - now you can’t afford thrifted items. And don’t you even dare respond with the same nonsense you told everyone else. Shame on you for price gouging.

I have found many good electronics here, including a couple iPods and a home theater receiver, all of which were reasonably priced.

The Avon store is great, they have a good variety of clothing from infants to plus or extended male sizes. The store is very clean & there are always staff on the floor, cleaning or assisting customers. Staff are always at the register assisting & the checkout process is very quick. They also carry housewares, bedding, electronics & a decent furniture selection. I always look for the seasonal decorations as there is a large selection. They have great hours too.

Horrible ,,, I shopped here since they opened went to purchase quite a bit of items,,, the cashier decided 2 shirts were more $$$ when I got to check out. Manager decided to "shake" me down for more money at register. They lost a loyal customer for a few dollars. Not sure it's even legal to demand more than price is marked. Don't waste your time thrifts Savers , Clinton , enfield goodwill much nicer cleaner and better deals ,,,

I’m not sure if it’s a Connecticut thing (we just moved here from the west) but I don’t like how the shoes and books aren’t split into children’s sections. It’s hard to find kids books when all the books are together. Also, the kids clothes aren’t organized into gender and sizes. It would be a lot easier to find specific sizes and clothes if they were organized better.

Cleaner, organized, and more spacious than most. I saw damaged items for sale. Breaking up sets of dishes for more money. Not a thrift store anymore. Prices are too high. 1/2 price is still pushing it. A year ago I would have given them all a good rating but something changed. Maybe Corporate stepped in to make more money?

Selina D, an employee at this goodwill treated customers with a very cold and mean attitude. we came in a little under 15 minutes before closing, as we walked in she yelled across the store “we are closed it’s 7, we close at 7”. I then took my phone out and said “okay” because the time wasn’t 7 yet, so I assumed I heard her wrong. She then proceeded to say to her co workers “do not ring them up if they come up here“. I find this type of behavior very rude as we would have been in and out before the store closed. This made the two of us feel too uncomfortable to browse or purchase anything, just walked in to get her name. I don’t think someone working at a thrift store that should be giving back to the community should be treating valued customers in such a demeaning way. Very rude all I gotta say about that...

Sadly this Goodwill is extremely high priced when it comes to their men's shoes and boots. It just continues to increase each time that I have gone there, which is about every 6 or 7 months. There used to be good deal with regard to footwear. No longer, you might as well be buying new. Some other places have a set prices, $6.00, and $12.00. They sell many more shoes, and are able to get new ones out on to the floor. The need for large areas to display the shoes is not needed. The shoes do not stay very long on those second hand shops that have reasonable pricing for shoes that are used, but have potential.

The prices continue to go up in the Avon store, while the Torrington store is working to lower prices that people can afford. Plus the staff tends to be put off in Avon while the staff in Torrington work to give the best shopping experience. The Bloomfield store yesterday was not a good experience, as the shelves were all its bare and the staff refused to bring another cashier on to make the line go down. I was in line for over 25 minutes to purchase just a few things. I will not go back to the Bloomfield store.
