I thought it was a cool little place to buy some ice cream. Walked in there, and the oriental girl in there couldn't explain what was in the ice-cream flavors. I asked to see if i could have a taste (like other shops do), and she said NO. So i tried a purple colored flavor, and it was it was more show than taste. It wasn't enjoyable at all. I threw it away. Stick to the flavors, you know folks.Noteworthy details: You all need to buy something to be able to use a bathroom folks.

Only reason it’s getting two stars is because of the polite staff. They don’t do samples at all so don’t bother trying anything new. Their $10 minimum policy with the cards is dumb as hell. If you use a card, go to the other ice cream place 👎

Very eccentric ice cream place. Serves blue bell brand ice cream, great! But don’t ask for a taste of the rum cherry flavor you’re not sure of. Why? There’s apparently a spoon shortage even though they have a jar with at least fifty spoons in the counter. You can have a taste only if you will order your ice cream in a cup as spoons are given with cups. And why not? Everything, cups, sugar cones, waffle cones etc are all the same price. Which is not posted. I guess you also only get the same sized serving???

This place and the owner were fantastic. My husband and I brought our 3 daughters here for Christmas vacation. The soaking pools were amazing. The suite that we rented was so cute and cozy. Price was even better. We will be coming back this summer, can't wait to stay with y'all again !

Horrible blueberry muffin. $10 min for Credit Card payments so make sure you have cash. A lot of people don't carry cash so it must be a way to get you to purchase more. This is common practice in Silverton. Just charge us the extra 3-5%. Bad experience.

Smedley's Suites is part of several businesses operated out of an 1880's era building in Silverton, CO. Our suite was the "Studio". It was the size of a 1 Bdr apartment and was nicely furnished (see pictures) and very comfortable. The kitchen was fully equipped with a stove, microwave, refrigerator and all utensils, pots, pans, dishes, silverware, etc.. It also had a coffee maker, that could do a single Kuerig cup or a small pot of coffee. There were 2 TVs, one in the living room and 1 in the bedroom, with FuboTV service or use your own streaming subscriptions. It had a "work" desk and office chair, with either WiFi or a network cable connection and fast Internet (35 WiFi, 155 cable). The bed was a king size and very comfortable. The bathroom is spacious with a walk in shower (see pictures). Reservations are available online and the owners have provided an electronic keypad door lock customized to each individual guest. Unfortunately, it is NOT handicap accessible and had about 20 stairs for access off of a private entrance, it is in an 1880's era building afterall! The other businesses on the premises are the Pickle Barrel restaurant, Smedley's Ice Cream Parlor and the Shangri La hot soaking pools. Access to the pools is provided in the room rental, as are plush bathrobes and pool towels. Buildings in Silverton typically do not have AC as it is located at 9318' elevation and the evenings are cool, even in summer. The fans and open windows provide plenty of cooling as the evening temps are usually between 35 and 50 in the summer. We found the accommodations very pleasant and look forward to staying there again.

We recently stayed at this hotel for 5 nights. The owner and his staff were very nice and helpful. It snowed during our stay (June) and my husband looked out the window to see the staff cleaning snow off our car. That is service and it was much appreciated. The kitchen was large and had everything we needed to cook. The room we stayed in was large and clean. My only complaint would be the bed made a noise anything you moved.We will defiantly be returning! Thank you so much for everything.

Our first adventure to Silverton! So a few things the room we stayed in had a very strong musty smell and ALL rooms are up stairs so pack light or you will have steep stairs to lug all your luggage up. I had to open all the windows to air out the room. The rooms have no fans or air conditioning that we could find or see. So the room we had gets very hot! The Queen bed is very uncomfortable and every time you move the bed squeaks no windows to air out room! The rooms decor is from the 70’s very out dated! There are no smart TVs for movie watching night with family! Regular TV and Directv box. Game boards if you prefer to play games though! Nice hot shower and updated bathroom. The kitchen is okay!The light switches in the room were really dirty and needed cleaning! Basically it is three different apartments upstairs with two bedrooms one with a queen and three twin beds. The food was good! Service is okay! Friendly couple who own the place.And it is legal to smoke weed in Colorado and they do! Everyone teaches their own but, one of guests was smoking right outside the door to suites and it made our whole suite smell like that for hours grouse!

The ice cream was wonderful, and the scoopers were incredibly polite. However, the man in charge at the time who I will assume to be the owner was incredibly rude. We came in with a group and after a few of us had tried ONE sample each, the owner said to the employees "that's enough samples, and your giving them too much ice cream per scoop". It was incredibly rude, and clearly within ear shot of us. I cannot recommend the place when the people in charge clearly don't care about their customers.

Cool place to stay gives you the feel of days gone by older historic building and slower pace of life. Loved the hot whirlpool area that was available to people who rented a room. Felt great after a long day of hiking. Service and booking of room was quick and easy.

Very cool place. Historical looking town. Friendly people. Reasonable price. Nice apartment like rooms. The town is small and accommodating. It depends on what your looking for. If you're looking for over the top fancy this isn't your spot. If you're looking for a real experience at a comfortable price, this is it. I'm from Texas. If you want to see fake Texas go the Fort Worth Stockyards. If you want to see real Texas go where the locals go. Smedley Suites is the real Colorado experience.

Not a family friendly joint. (speaking of the attached ice cream shoppe). Dude behind the counter is not nice to kids. My 9 year old child asked him a question about the ice cream being home made / old fashioned and he replied, "who told you that it was home made or old fashioned" in a smart a** tone with his arms crossed. We said we were going to go eat lunch and come back for ice cream (it was still around 1030am at that time). My son asked to use the bathroom, figured this was OK since we said we would be back to purchase ice cream. Once again, with arms folded, he said "I don't know where the bathroom is." My 12 year old asked again nicely, and once again the man repeated himself in a very short tone and upset body language that he didn't know where it was.... even though there were signs. We decided not to return and went to the AMAZING funnel cake and ice cream shop across the street

We just stopped in for ice cream during Silverton's off-season. He was one of the few places open. Owner was behind the counter. Told us he has hot pools and lodging for skiers. He was a nice guy and talked for a while. We'll definitely go back next time we're here.

I went to Silverton for the Silverton Ultra. The owner was incredibly nice and helpful. The room was perfect for my needs. Comfy bed, kitchen with cooking supplies, microwave, fridge. Great location. Easy parking.

Great old historic hotel in a nice, small mountain town. We had a two bedroom suite that included a full kitchen. The price was reasonable for what we got. I definitely recommend it.

Best place is Silverton!! Their Blue Bell ice cream is delish and the portions are a ton!! Also, the owner is so dang nice.

Came for coffee and ice-cream. Ice cream serving war very generous and tasted ok. Espresso was completely wrong. I'm guessing the 10 year old who made it had probably never had coffee before.
