We had an excellent time exploring Silverton with the Powder Cats crew. The guides are extremely professional and knowledgeable. The ones I spoke to have been guiding in the area for well over 10 years and know the area like the back of their hands. Not only are they spectacular guides, but they're also some of the nicest and friendliest people you'll ever meet. We are already looking forward to coming back next winter.

This my 3rd time riding with the Powdercats Team and again they did not disappoint! Super professional, safety minded and fun operation and guides. Unfortunately the conditions weren't ideal due to the weather heating up and then freezing... but... they got us into places that had the best available including some really fun trees glades and a few long open lines with gullies and powder stashes. I'll be back next winter!

WOW!I’ll start this off with the obvious. The snow was phenomenal! But more importantly, the team at Silverton Powdercats took such great care of us.SAFETY. We had a solid group of skiers and snowboarders, some of us had already had some backcountry experience. The guys at Silverton Powdercats created the perfect balance of safety and fun. They provided BCA backpacks for those who didn’t have any and ran us through some different scenarios if the worst were to happen. Before each run, they would show us the routes, where to avoid and where to have the most fun. Each run would have a guide in front and behind us, making sure no one was left behind.THE GUIDES. We had three guides. Two skiers, one snowboarder. All of them had years of experience and made it easy to trust them. As I mentioned above, the made it safe and fun. We were able to respect them as our guides but ski/ride with them like they were friends. They called us the day before and made sure we were all good to go and gave us some information on the area, how to get there, and things to do.THE TRIP. We started off at about 9am and finished around 4pm. We booked out an entire cat for our friends bachelor party. As I said, we were a solid group of skiers and riders so we were able to get 10 laps in with just about every type of terrain you could ever want and for us, every single turn was fresh snow. The provided lunch was delicious and the perfect amount of food. By the end of it, we were pretty tired but not completely exhausted.KEEP IN MIND. As I said, we were able to get 10 laps in. Again, we were all pretty good skiers and riders and we were moving fast. Some groups might get less laps, some might get more, but trust that the guides will make the most out of your day. If you can make it work, I recommend that you try to book a private cat and fill it with skiers/riders that are at a similar ability level. Next, is that the snow was amazing for our trip but you are at the mercy of Mother Nature. Again, trust that the guides will do their very best to find you the best snow and terrain.FINISHING NOTES. If you are on the fence about doing this, just do it. You’re in the San Juan National Forest which has to be one the most spectacular locations in all of Colorado!Would we do it again? Absolutely!

As someone who has been thinking about doing this for a long time, they delivered. Snow conditions were less than perfect, but the guides worked to find conditions that made the riding super fun! The terrain was perfect and the guides were a alot of fun and top notch. I'll be back. Thanks for the great day guys!

Best Day Ever! I recently had the pleasure of skiing with Silverton Powdercats and wanted to share some of my experience. We had amazing conditions with more than 12" of new snow and more coming down all day. Despite an overwhelming amount of snow, our expert cat driver got us to the top of run 1 within an hour of arrival. Our guides were professional clearly had a lot of knowledge of the terrain, directing us to the best snow and were clear to point out hazards we would be avoiding to stay safe. The terrain was perfect for a deep snow day with optional cliffs, trees, open pitches and easy run outs back to the cat. Although our group was full of very experienced skiers and snowboarders, we all agreed the terrain wouldn't be too demanding for less experienced skiers looking for a taste of backcountry snow. Definitely my best day of the season so far and I will be back!

Great operation. We had great snow, but avalanche danger was high after lots of snow. Safety was number one here and the communication was excellent. We had a solid group and got 12 runs in. Super fun day with these guys and the terrain is super fun even on the low angle riding.

They did not read our group well at all. We were on pretty flat terrain more than half day. We took one run that was actually good out of 7. Very disappointing. The best part of the day was the lunch which they get from a local bakery. Very over priced for the experience. Save your money and go heli skiing.

What an amazing day and great way to introduce the family to Silverton back country. Our guides (Rob, Matt, Zach and Jimbo) were phenomenal. We found great snow despite being a week+ away from the most recent storm. With a range of abilities in our group, our guides tailored the runs and location perfectly. Many smiles all around. Silverton Powdercats runs the best operation in Colorado, and possibly all of North America. Ryan is an absolute pleasure to work with, and has hosted our group for 5+ years now. Our 2022 crew was exceptional with Casey, Adam, Josh and Jimbo being the best of the best. SPC and crew do a great job. I've traveled near and far for sking and passed by this operation on 550 for years and thought we should give it a go. Finally did it this season and now so glad to know that there is such great cat sking so close to home, Albuquerque. The terrain in on Molas is much better than what I thought. Some nice steaper pitches but nothing that I was ever overly concerned about. There cat is top notch too. Super fun crew as well. We will definitly be back. Cheers to the SPC.

We had such an awesome time w Silverton Powdercats. Such a sick atmosphere and guides are great! We skied w Jimbo, KC and Heartthrob Rob and they were some of the best guides I’ve been around. Highly recommend making the trip and choosing this operation! Guides are knowledgeable, safe, and a blast to be around. Terrain is fun and playful w a little bit of everything for everyone. Snow...come on it’s SW CO so powder is near!

My family loved our experience with Silverton Powdercats. We had two teenage snowboarders, one alpine skier and myself on telly skis. The guides were very professional, keeping safety in mind for all of us while treating us to the time of our lives. The terrain was not extreme but challenging enough for all to have fun making powder eights in untracked snow run after run. The scenery is breathtaking and the guides were great. I would highly recommend Silverton Powdercats for an incredible ski adventure.

Managed somewhere around 12,000ft vertical on our trip and the snow was very good on every run. Terrain was not extremely steep, but hey if you don't have a heli or manage to hit a resort while its dumping you can't beat the conditions we had.The guides were enjoyable and very attentive to safety as they were very clear about protocol concerning avalanches and the cat. Another plus was that the cat rides were very short compared to the other cat operation I have skiied with, and the guides worked hard to maximize the number of runs we got.Definitely worth the trip.

January 3, 2016 what an awesome day! 10 of us reported for duty at 9AM and skied 10,000Ft or more until 4PM. So fun! Great guides, focus on safety and they were fine with fun! We skied great powder, had a nice lunch and skied some more.

Definitely a 5 star experience!! This was my first time cat skiing and I have to admit I was a little nervous. These guys put me at ease immediately. Very professional and curious. It shows that that really take care of their customers and care about providing a top notch experience. Highly recommend and can’t wait to go again. I’m addicted!

I had a fabulous day with these guys and I'm going back for more this year. I live in Salt Lake City, so I'm a little spoiled by "the greatest snow on earth." But the terrain, the scenery and the relative solitude that the Silverton Powdercats have make it worth the trip. I just showed up with my skis and they took care of the rest.... even the lunch was great.
