The owners are AMAZING! I would trust Dr. Wendy to operate on me😂. We take our animals to her first and foremost. We live 80 mi. away. Best vet we've used in multiple states.

I could not get my little dog in at any of the veterans in the valley. I called them and they got me in to have her taken care of. she had broken her rear tooth off at gum and was in a lot of pain she had stopped eating and drinking water. She goes in Monday so they can remove the rest of the tooth. They are great 👍

I’ve been here a handful of times now in my two years of living out here and after yesterdays visit I’ve wondered how can I thank them for being so good to my dog. Yesterdays visit was tough, my dog got something stuck in her ear, the vet explained everything very well beforehand and was very good about letting me know what she is doing and why. Trying to get into her ears had us both in some not to comfortable positions my back was hurting and I was just holding the dog but she stayed with it and got the grass and grass seed from both ears when I thought it was just the right. This is just a start I’ll find another way to thank y’all more. Thanks again for going above and beyond for my best friend she’s back to her normal crazy self this morning

These folks are amazing! Dr. Sara worked my fur baby in with no hesitation. They took their time to diagnose and explain my fur baby's prognosis. Unfortunately we lost our baby to cancer. Thank you for being so kind during a very difficult time.

I don't trust many people but this place is very trust worthy. They let you know all the costs up front. They have great care for our fuzzy furry family. It's hard to find a good vet very appreciate of this place thanks guys for taking good care of our loved ones. The only thing I can say don't be 5 minutes late cause the won't take you and the will turn you away even if you drove over a hour to get there. I have waited awhile just to be seen. So make sure your on time even if they are not.

Used Animal Care Center for Marley's teeth cleaning this fall. They were super friendly and did a wonderful job. We had gotten a quote for teeth cleaning after he had something in his eye, the finished job was much cheaper than the quote. Great service, will be back soon for his booster shots.

My wife and I have been in the area for less than a week and our 10 yr old lab needed to see a vet asap. Dr. Wendy, Emily, and Heather were fantastic to work with; they worked with me and got us in as soon as they could. Dr. Wendy was thorough and provided the care and attention our girl needed. The office was clean and everyone was very polite. Can't thank everyone in this office enough!

It's traumatic when your pet has a traumatic health event. The staff and doctor at the Animal Care Center are great at caring for them and also comforting those of us who love those pets so much. They are awesome.

Dr Wendy was super knowledgeable and helped my old sick kitty. They have the ability to do blood lab work in the office... no waiting for external lab results. Nice staff.

My 10 year old dog became I’ll while we were in Salida. I called around to the local vet offices and Animal Care Center was able to see him. What a wonderful care group. The office staff, the Vet tech and veterinarian were superb. I wish I lived closer so they could be my permanent vet.

Janet was absolutely great. It felt like we were making progress with our dog's recurring ear problems. Then she left and costs went up for procedures and additional exam fees for hundreds of dollars were charged. The Doctor came in for less than five minutes and had a tech administer the medication. She didn't even take our dogs temperature, but found it appropriate to charge so much for a less than thorough exam. We were told the exam would be unnecessary next time since a tech could do the work. Well, when the time comes it turns out they would just like your money. There was never a cohesive treatment plan, she just kept doing the same thing every time we came. We aren't going back. I would recommend looking elsewhere for your pet's treatment.

I'm so grateful I was referred to Dr. Wendy at Animal Care Center. What a blessing the entire team is! I have two golden retrievers and both have been treated by Dr. Wendy and both are doing great! When I first moved to Westcliffe in June 2021, no vets near here were taking any new patients. It took forever to find someone who would see us until we were referred to Dr. Wendy. It's a long drive for me to take my dogs there but it is worth every single mile and then I can take them swimming in the Arkansas River on the way home!

I have never encountered a veterinary clinic so professional and have so much empathy as they have. My fur baby got sick, we were to late and he passed while in their care. They took care of all arrangements to have him cremated, and also gave me time to say goodbye to him in privacy. They are amazing and caring people. If I ever get another four legged family member they will for sure be my first choice!

This is the worst vet we have ever been to. They will automatically muzzle your animal regardless of temperament. Additional they are unable to produce vaccine expiration dates and batch numbers which is against the USDA. This vet is illegal and is braking the law. DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!

So far a wonderful vet. My other vet in Florida refused to fill a seizure medicine for my dog for some horrible reason but I had no problem here. Very caring and understanding.

I got a same day appointment for our Frenchie, Lilo, which is hard to come by in our area. Michael at the front desk was very welcoming and even offered us refreshments. The vet tech and Dr. Wendy were so kind to Lilo and tried to calm her as they assessed her needs. Thank you for the great care and welcoming environment.

I was camping by Hayden Pass when my 15 yo dog had a mass on his rear rupture. I called Animal Care Center and they got me in that afternoon. Very caring vet. She fixed his rear. I liked her so well, I brought him back the following week for a dental and to have 4 teeth removed. I'm home now and my pup is doing great. I wish I could pick up ACC and move it to Denver. (BTW, they're reasonably priced as well.)

This place is awesome. This was my first visit. I took my year old puppy in to check his neuter wound(he had the surgery at another vet out of town) it was looking a little yucky. He was very nervous and growling at the vet and techs since the last time he was in a vet setting he had his surgery. They were all so friendly with him. The vet needed to look at the wound but he was not comfortable with her yet. She spent 10mins or so playing with him with toys and treats till he felt better. I really felt like they gave him 100% of their attention and care. I will definitely be back with all my animals.

I brought my dog here for a life saving situation because no other vet could fit him in. I knew he needed a dental and scheduled that a month out from the situation. Being 11, his breath was terrible! Brought him in for the dental and said DO NOT PULL TEETH, JUST CLEAN! I have heard horror stories about local vets pulling every tooth in the dogs head and charging thousands of dollars. The vet called with her concerns, my dog lost a tooth during the cleaning and had issues with a lot of teeth. They repaired and sealed some, and had to pulled others. It didn't hit $1, 000 and after a month I found my dog chewing on a bully stick. He hasn't done that in over a year. The neighbors dogs usually come for a visit, steel them and I just buy more, but now...his mouth doesn't hurt and he's playing again. I love this office, have my daughter moving out from Ohio and this is where my grandpups will go hands down. Thank you for bringing the playful spark back to my little old man.

I am new to Salida and have a 12 year old Yorkie with a history of bladder stones and pancreatitis. I scheduled an appointment to get her rabies vaccine and accidentally got the appointment time wrong. I called when I thought I was going to be late for the appointment and was told at that time I had gotten the appointment wrong(we live 5 minutes from their office and could have been there immediately. I begged, literally BEGGED them to still see us because my pup was also having a pancreatitis flare and needed meds and they refused. So now I will have to drive TWO hours to an emergency vet to get care for my pup. Coming from a larger city where my previous vet would have absolutely made an exception and seen my pup cause they would not have wanted an emergency to happen over the weekends, I shave to say how disappointed I am with the vet availability here. In a small rural area with little or no access to care, I have to say I am shocked at how horrible the vets here are. I am also a nurse working long hours at the local hospital that is understaffed and overworked. I am struggling to find time to do anything but work. I understand that vets have busy schedules too, but I made an honest mistake and just want my pup to be ok. She is absolutely 100 percent my child in my eyes so I will do whatever I can for her. I am saddened that no vets here seem to care very much about a small breed senior dog who needed care. This experience has me reconsidering moving to Salida. I don’t recommend this vet or so far any that I have experienced in the few months I have been here. I would recommend this vet office consider getting an automated appointment reminder system to help us make sure we get our appointment times right. I would have made it to the appointment as scheduled had your office had that in place.

My husband and I were out camping with our two dogs up near St. Elmo and we had an emergency with one of our dogs and Bloat (scary!!) We had to drive to Buena Vista to get service and all the vets I kept calling were closed with no emergency help.. finally when I called the Animal Care Centers emergency line I got an answer from Dr. Jo Myers who got right to the clinic and meet us there without any inconvenience felt! We got lucky and our dog puked right when we got to the vet but Dr. Jo Myers was so compassionate and checked her out to make sure everything was really okay. She even helped my husband clean up the puke (mostly water) that our dog got in our Jeep without hesitation. She's the best and we were beyond happy with our service and the cost even with it being an emergency visit.

We vacation for a month in Salida every year. This time our little Westie got a chicken bone out of the trash and ate it. She became very sick, throwing up all night. We called one vet but the were busy and couldn't see her. We called this one and they were awesome they said bring her right in. They had to do xrays, iv etc. From the moment we called until we picked her back up they displayed amazing customer care. Very friendly, knowledgeable, professional, and caring. I wish they were my normal vet. I can't thank them enough. She is doing amazing now.

I couldn’t be more grateful to the loving staff at the Animal Care Center! My little 10 month old Shih-Poo, Dolce was having horrible diarrhea for a week, and then started vomiting, becoming incredibly lethargic, then stopped eating. I took her to the emergency care first, and they didn’t know what was wrong with her after the parvo and giardia tests came back negative. I asked around for a great local vet and was introduced to the animal care center(and I’m so glad I was). Scheduling the initial appointment was smooth and the receptionist Deb was a total doll. Then, Dolce and I were greeted was the most loving and adorning staff ever! The nurse and doctor were amazing, and we discovered that Dolce had a bacterial infection in her GI tract within 45 minutes. It’s now a week later (after antibiotics and probiotics) and Dolce is back to her happy puppy self, running and playing. THANK YOU!! ❤️

Wish I could give zero stars.We needed certain information regarding the vaccines they gave our dog and they could not provide it….this is not only frustrating but illegal.They also did not let me see anything they did to my dog and wrote that he needed a muzzle and was better without me….also lies.Would NEVER take my animal here.
