Customer service is lost. We called ahead to ask if they had a product. The did. We knew we were cutting it close to closing time. I told her I was on my way. Walked in (doors still unlocked) 7:58. Refused service and said their drawer was already closed. Thanks a lot Big R Monte. We will be pushing our business to COOP from now on.

Customer service at this location is A1 had an online pick up for the evening. I got there let alone it was about a hour and a half drive to get there. They said it the order wouldn’t be ready till possibly Monday, but they got the manager to come in (keep in mind she was already off) and they got me taken care of. I can’t even name another store that would even do that for someone. All the ladies that work there are extremely polite and have great customer service! I will be returning to this location when I’m back in Colorado.

Went to get a part lady at the register. Didn't know where to find it or what it was. She didn't even check with anybody else or offer to check with anybody else. Went to the back. Another lady said she didn't know where to find it called on the radio. They told her the aisle she helped me try to find it. Could not find it. She got a manager involved. The manager didn't know what we were talking about. Led me over to where he thought it would be and walked away to go help another customer. I called Alamosa Big r to get a skew number on it. They didn't even know where to look for the part? Monte Vista Big r must have a whole new crew of people. Nobody knows anything around there.

So today Sunday July 16th I came into the big room store in Monte Vista and I needed to buy clip for my gun the first clip I bought ended up being 26 dollars I took it out to the car and tried it in my gun it didn't fit so I got the gun and clip brought it back into the store to find a clip that would work I found one and returned the original clip that didn't fit the new clip was only a total of 9 dollars but there was an "issue" with the first clip not coming up in the system anyways the store manager got the return to work so I exchanged the clips well I was owed a difference of a little over 4 bucks and he told me that I pretty much had to eat the 4 dollars because the first clip had some kind of problem with the return so for the 19 dollar clip I got charged the original price of the first clip that was 26 dollars when I should have only been charged 19 this is poor customer service and bad business

They have great staff, very helpful. I went in their a week ago and bought feed. I had great help out to my vehicle. A tall Mexican man was so helpful in loading my bags of feed. Then I forgot to grab a few other things so he help me with finding the right person to talk to in what I needed. I left as a very happy customer with everything I needed. Thank you Big R

I can't say enough positive stuff about this store and their staff. I've never had a bad experience. They are always willing to help my husband and I, and consistently go above and beyond. We moved here in May and have been able to get our small farm going with the help of this Big R and its employees.

This store is terrible, they tell me that they have a product, I drive all the way over there and they don't have it. No ONE there wears a mask and they don't make customers wear masks. It takes too long to be waited on when there to find out they don't have what you need most of the time. The Big R in Alamosa is much better and managed much better in my opinion.

Nice store, but be careful when checking out. I picked up a couple boxes of .223 ammo because the shelf price said $8.99. When it rang up it was $10.99. I asked the cashier to check it because I knew it was wrong. When an employee went back and checked it he confirmed the shelf price was $8.99, but they said it was in the wrong place and had the wrong bar code. So instead of honoring the price like they should have for their mistake, I still got charged the full price. I really like this store but I’m a bit jaded now. I’ll probably just buy ammo online now.

Big R is a Triple Crown (horse feed) dealer, but there is one Triple Crown product that not every store carries in quantity. Since it's a couple of hours for me to drive to a Big R (in Santa Fe or up in CO), I called the Alamosa, CO store to see if they had Triple Crown Safe Starch Forage in stock. The lady who answered checked on the computer and told me that they didn't have any in stock, but suggested I call the Monte Vista store. I did so, and asked the same question of the man who answered: Do you have Triple Crown Safe Starch Forage in stock? He didn't get it. I explained that Triple Crown is the brand, and Safe Starch Forage is the specific product I was asking about. After I went through this exercise THREE times, he informed me that Big R does not sell dartboards. I told him that it's horse feed. He put me on hold, where I remained for quite some time. When the call was (eventually) picked up, the voice said "Hardware". I told this person I was calling about horse feed. I was put on hold again, for quite some time (listening to bad country music) and who picks the phone up but the man who had originally answered. I was not about to deal with him again, so I just said I'd go to the Santa Fe store and hung up. I have to mention that I was born and raised in California. I do not have any sort of foreign or regional accent. I do not mumble. I am a lawyer, so I have to speak clearly, especially when trying to explain something. I was at a loss as to how "Triple Crown Safe Starch Forage" could sound the same as "Dartboard". I was at a loss as to how "Horse Feed" could sound the same as "Hardware". And then I realized the following: recreational marijuana is legal in Colorado.

I went in to buy ammunition, granted for the 2nd time today. They helped me at the gun counter, gave me just exactly what I asked for. When I got up to the cashier to pay, they refused to complete the sale. I will notgo back there ever again.

Ordered gates and they said they had them in stock ready for me, I drove 2 hours to pick them up and they had different ones that were more expensive for my order. (Apparently they forgot to actually check for the gates ) I offered to meet the manager halfway on the price difference and they refused. If you can't get it right try to make it right. They offered nothing, San Luis valley service an't the best but this was pretty bad.

Attractive and well-stocked. Customer service is generally first-rate. Best selection of pet food in Monte Vista. Whenever I go to Monte Vista, Big-R is one of my stops.

Love this place. Friendly people and almost everything we need plus you can bring your dog in, the co-op doesn't allow it anymore. They even had Santa there for the kids and your puppies.
