I got my Leo here just a little over a year ago. I am so glad I decided to adopted him. He is now over a year old and a solid 20 lbs. He is very lazy and loves his snacks. He loves playing and he is my little fury cat human child.(he thinks he is human) He got out when he was a kitten and came home,which I was surprised and relieved, he now refuses to go outside(lucky me)

Everyone there was helpful and caring. I adopted this little beauty! Now on September 3, Alice (Allie) actually came up to me at my backyard table! She let me pet her ears, and she licked my hand! Great milestone!

We adopted our cat there about two years ago now. She is a very shy girl but has since warmed up. They take good care of their animals and are thorough about the adoption process. Even going as far as to offer animal behavioral advice and services for after adoption.

We adopted two kittens from Roice-Hurst and they we fantastic to work with. The foster took wonderful care of them prior to us adopting them and did a wonder job socializing them, so they are friendly and cuddly. One of the kittens is almost completely blind but such a brave little girl. I appreciate all the time and energy that Roice-Hurst puts into the animals care and into the adopters.

Went in just to visit a dog named tuco. Told me he was the sweetest dog. Dog immediately tore into my leg with it's venomous hatred. I'm coming for you guys in court. Whether youre nice or not it doesn't mean your dogs are. Pants torn, hurt knee cap bleeding bruising and swelling. Don't come here. Theyre basically Lucifer with the devil waiting to pounce. -5/5.

There was a lot of phone tag & left messages when I initially started looking for a dog to adopt; that was a little frustrating. However, I did end up finally adopting a 3-month-old puppy. I absolutely LOVE this crazy thing & she fits right in in our family. The adoption process was very easy & quick. The phone call check-ins from someone there are nice. They have many resources for people adopting animals from there, which is nice & not something I've run across when adopting other animals.

I brought my daughter here looking for an emotional support pet and the gal new just the kitten for her. She has been perfect for my 9 year old and the cost was very affordable. It included her vaccines and spay, plus they gave us toys, food, a scratching post, and a pet bed.

I adore Roice-Hurst! They strive to find a good home for every single pet they take in. The behaviorist on staff is so helpful in evaluating and placing the pets where they will fit in the best. Two years ago we brought home a pibble named Zander and he is the doggy love of our lives! RESCUE ONLY DON'T BUY FROM BREEDERS!!!

Adopted my sweet kitten from here recently. They take good care of the cats in their facility - they each have their own space, no need to share food or litter boxes, keeping them happier and healthier, and they clearly get plenty of attention from staff and volunteers. They were great with my adoption. Definitely the best animal care of any shelter in the county.

Adopted my sweet boy from here about 8 months ago now. The staff was friendly, efficient, and helpful. We loved being able to get a read on whether our first dog would get along with the dog we chose. They are now best friends and we couldn't be happier.

We have had a very negative experience with Roice-Hust adopting a kitten. We had the cat home for less than 2 hrs and immediately discovered it was deaf. RH had the cat in their care for months. The cat was also previously adopted and was returned claiming that a child was allergic. The worst part of RHs poor service was the fact that it took them 5 days to call me back! Finally when i did get to speak to someone they were totally dismissive of our perspective and accepted zero accountability . Either they knew the cat was deaf and failed to disclose it, or they were so neglectful of the cat that they didnt discover what was obvious after only minutes of attention. Our vet and mangers of other shelters have agreed with us that this situation would have been prevented if anyone was actually caring for this cat prior to us adopting it.

What this place does for our community and the animals in it is insurmountable. This is a no kill shelter 👏🏼. Every animal that goes through is treated very well by the incredible humans working and volunteering here. I’m a firm believer in adopting. I highly recommend adopting from here as well as donating to them if you can. They put every dollar to great use.We adopted our sweet doggo Indio from here… he’s amazing and came home neutered and vaccinated.Thanks Roice-Hurst for all that you do!

A great place to volunteer at! I moved here and was looking for a place to volunteer at that had flexible hours. I love animals so looked into Roice Hurst, I am so glad I did. I spend a lot of time at the shelter and it is always a great experience. The staff are nice, other volunteers are so friendly, and the animals are of course the best. It is such a rewarding experience. The best part is, they are completley flexible with volunteer time. If you are looking to volunteer some of your time I recommend Roice Hurst.

A few months ago we lost one of our cats (we had 2), and some friends of mine suggested that I check this shelter out because they had a cat that would compliment the personality of the one we have left. I went to the shelter and really did enjoy the cats that they had, especially the one that my friends recommended. I expressed interest in wanting to adopt him and filled out an application. They recommended that I wait a couple days for the cat specialist to give me more details, but they promised to keep the cat on hold until then. I was expecting to just get some more information about the cat -- they made it sound like I was able to adopt him and that I could have walked out the door with him that day if I was really determined, but I was fine with being patient. I was really excited to have found my cat a friend and spent 2 days getting him excited to meet his new buddy. When we went to pick up the cat, however, we found out our application had been rejected and that they thought none of their cats would be suitable for us to adopt.Moral of the story: if you plan on letting the cat be in a garage and/or outdoors, and you mention that in the application or to the staff, they probably will not let you adopt a cat. All the animals seemed nice, and the staff seemed to care a lot about the animals, but they made me feel like the home and love I had to offer to any of their animals wasn't good enough, and I really do love my animals and want to give them a happy life, so this whole experience has been disappointing for me. Beware of trying to adopt from an overprotective place because even if you find an animal you love, they may not give it to you. 2 stars because I'm sure this place has positively impacted a lot of lives....just not mine.
