The staff member Sarah was so helpful! I was trying to find out more information on the plants I had in my aquarium. I called the store and asked for a staff member that was knowledgeable on aquatic plants and shortly came to the store. When I came into the store I showed them pictures of my plants and they helped identify each of them and how to properly take care of them! My experience was extremely personalized. Sarah helped me throughout the whole process: picking out rocks, taking the time to pick out the healthiest plants, picking out plant fertilizers, and answering all of my many many questions. J&M Aquatics rocks!! Not only in their quality of aquatic selections for plants/fish, but also in their knowledge. This store is not like your average pet store; they do their research! My betta is very happy!

I love this store! Any time I can shop a local store over a big chain is a bonus, but this place has packed A TON into a small space! They have a huge supply of habitats and accessories on hand. They take excellent care of the critters and were very knowledgeable in answering my questions. We just brought home a baby ball python from here and he appears to be in perfect health!

Would love for you guys to get better carrying cases for the take home boxes. I got a feeder mouse and that sucker got out IN MY CAR. I used to get better boxes that were taped and properly sealed.

This is the cleanest pet shop I have ever been in. They truly care about their animals and their fish. Their prices are fair and not above the usual pet store chains. The people that work there are nice and knowledgeable about the animals they have. This will be my go-to pet shop, even though I live 2 hours away I will make the trip knowing that I will get healthy animals that are well taken care of. The owners of this business should be proud of their accomplishments in running such an amazing pet store. Hands down best place ever!!

Was looking for Honest Kitchen dehydrated dog food. They had it $20 cheaper than anyone else. Would rather buy local than online. AND they were very nice people! I will be going back!

Not sure about the store these days, but the pair of chinchillas featured in the pics attached here are being neglected at best. First that cage is full of plastic. A nibble or to of that and those little guys will die. Also one is obviously chewing on the leal stained part of the wall, there is no telling what toxic mess it will ingest from that!!!!I have been in this store and it is not a safe temp for chinchillas either!!!!Seen another review talking about how well the animals are cared for at this store, that was not my experience. On the whole this store seems equipped for the most basic if pets, at best.

First off I want to start off with just saying that not all the employees that work for this small mom and pop store are not kind. One of the employees Dylan is a very intelligent guy, who is always eager to help us when we come in with any questions that we have, and does not make us feel like inconvenient at all. A couple of the ladies that work in there are very kind as well, and never act like we are bothering when we have any questions. We have definitely had a few very unpleasant encounters with a few employees that work there. Very rude behaviors and when in the wrong, don’t apologize until made a big deal. Walked in today with some products that I had previously purchased from another store and had already been using on my reptiles, I asked one of the employees Dylan what the appropriate amount was to give my reptiles and how many days of the week. he answered my questions very nicely and I went about my time there. I was waiting for the crickets that they went in the back to get it while waiting one of the employees came up to me asking if she could help with checking us out. She was talking about the items that I had brought into the store with me. She rudely had accused me of stealing the items when that store they do not even carry the items I brought in. I did not even get an apology until I called when I got home and asked if they had gotten a chance to check the cameras. Because she kept saying over and over I’m still going to check the cameras. I’m still going to check the cameras even after talking with the other employee that, I asked to help me when I first arrived to the store. It really upset me and made me very sad because we go in there almost every day and I felt very profiled and to even get an apology. I had to call and make a huge deal about it. And then, in the very end, they didn’t even check the cameras. But overall besides this visit every other time has been pretty good not all employees act like this the most part of them are really great.

I love coming here to get my crickets for my toads they're always in stock and their staff is very friendly. Plus they sell animals like spiders, anoles, frogs, and also snakes.!!

I like this store, but it seems like everytime, I buy a new fish from there and put it in my tank, ich, gets introduced to my tank. Then, I have to put my fish through the stress of hyposalinity water for two months. They do have a good variety of stuff though.

Great pet shop. The staff was all super friendly and nice. Unlike most chain pet stores they have healthy and well taken care of animals. They had a large selection of beautiful beta fish as well. I love my beautiful new fish.

Not happy with the recent experience here I went in to get some dog food today, and I had my toddler and infant who doesn't walk with me. So here I am struggling to manage a baby in one hand and a 35lbs bag of dog food in the other. An employee came around the corner and instead of offering to help, steps aside and I lost grip on the dog food. It was only then she offered to help. Not gonna lie, I was a little bitter about the fact that she didn't offer to help me and watched me drop the bag of food. She claimed to not notice that I was struggling. Really?? You literally looked at me right before I dropped the bag. I really wish I didn't have to do business with them.

Love this place always helpful with advice and tips on my fish tank and dogs! I've ordered all my fish through them and have never had any sick or unhealthy fish. Dog loves the treats!!!

Its unfortunate, I used to really enjoy going to this store and now I dread it when I need to pick things up. Staff is really stand offish, and not very friendly and they dont seem to really want to help and it makes for a generally uncomfortable atmosphere. They have multiple people just standing and talking behind the counter and take much longer to help customers even on what seems like a slow day. Its been like this for the last several times Ive gone, and what friends have told me when they go. They have nice products and a lot of fish, but customer service is just really lacking. Also a huge majority of the tanks are labeled wrong as well.

The store is in a slightly shady area of town. There's an occasional homeless/vagrant individual or couple hanging out on the sidewalk, but I have never been approached. However, I probably look unapproachable most days.I have bought several lizard related items at this store in the past. I mostly purchase crickets now. There's almost always more than one associate available. The crickets vary in size from week to week. There's been more than one time when the crickets were too big for my lizards and they had to be switched out for a smaller size. The associates have NEVER been grumpy about that, have always had a good attitude and are always helpful. I would recommend this location to anyone looking for any variety of pet supplies.

I have been a customer since starting my aquarium hobby. Always great service and fish. Today I called and had a question about freshwater crabs and brackish water. My experience with J and M is always inconsistent. Sometimes it’s really bad and some times it’s just okay. Pro: staff is more knowledgeable about animals than at most pet stores and they supply great brands with good prices. Cons: employees are very rude most of the time and tend to stand in a big group around the register a lot and if you interrupt the group they treat you rudely and shortly. They can be heavily understaffed where you’re stuck standing at a register for a long time even if you’re the first in line. The other day I went in, I waited around 20 minutes (yes I counted) for someone it show up to a register. I eventually had it just leave without getting anything by at all. Personally I have never had a good experience there, only okay ones. All in all, it’s better than big box pet stores but don’t expect to get treated like a paying customer.

I'm sure this place is fine for pets and fish tanks, but with the word "aquatics" in the name, I hoped for more pond supplies. Not so. They had a small number of water hyacinths overpriced at about $10 each. Bookcliff Gardens is a much better and cheaper choice for aquatic plants, and for pond chemicals and equipment, you probably need to go online.
