FANTASTIC selection for a small store in a small town. Staff was super helpful and friendly. Store was clean. Well done!!(And you unkind people that are giving low ratings for it being expensive... Of course it's expensive!! What do you expect?! It's a teeny tiny mountain town. They have to stay open!! You try owning it... You'd price everything the same! Basic economics)

Stopped in to pick up a few things while staying in Fairplay. It's a nice little store with a decent selection of items. The prices are higher than regular grocery stores in larger towns but that's to be expected. Nice to be able to pick stuff up in town instead of having to drive to Breckinridge.

Only business in town that refuses to offer clean indoor restrooms going on over a year. Can't wash your hands before handling other people's produce. Shows the level of care. Very disappointing.

Excellent selection!! So many vegan, vegetarian, and gluten free options. The store is extremely clean, well-stocked, and easy to navigate. We scored some great deals on organic greens, vegan “cheese,” and a HUGE glass jar of natural peanut butter! If you need healthy food- or any food really- near 285 in Colorado, this is your spot!

Excelllllent meat and bakery options at great prices. Of course in the mountains your frozen food and pantry items are expensive here. But what they can make affordable they do! And they really have better meat and bakery items then we usually find at specialty grocers and costco in the bigger cities. The staff is wonderful.. they seem happy with their jobs and its a delightful place to visit. We spend more than we want sometimes but honestly the convenience and quality is worth it!!

Only grocery store in Park County, if you're coming up to visit, buy groceries ahead of time to avoid being robbed. The fact of the matter is that everything is overpriced, and their veggies and bread tend to turn quite fast.

The first time I stopped in at Prathers Market I admit I wasn’t expecting much more than high prices, a limited selection, and a note to self to remember to plan better next time so I could skip the trip. I couldn’t have bee more wrong.Although it doesn’t look like there’s going to be much going on on the outside, shopping here is surprisingly good. The store is actually really big and they have a large selection of goods to choose from, including a lot of specialty items that I got one hadn’t expected to see at a mountain store like this one.The employees are have always been consistently friendly which is an awesome bonus when you’re the only real grocery store in town. Although prices are perhaps a bit higher than you’d find at a big chain store in the city, they aren’t markedly so and after all, Prathers is the only store in town.

This store is the expensive outdated store. You better check every expiration date on everything you buy or you will get home with outdated food!!! If you buy their produce, better use it the next day because it’s old and won’t last much longer than a day. I have seen employees picking the moldy berries out of the package and putting it back to sell.I bought whole wheat flour and got home and it was expired over a year!!!Your better off going to Buena Vista or Breckenridge for groceries.This store is the worst!

I came back just to give an update: I've been in the area for years and I've watched this market grow recently. The owners are nice people. But I felt like upping my review from the one star because I've been shopping here for the last month...and my opinions have changed. I think the issues I was having here, have been addressed.My biggest pick was with the products on shelf being past date. But lately, I've noticed they have actually been watching the dates carefully. I'm impressed. This little grocer has really turned things around recently. I'm still checking dates, but I'm not seeing anything past it's date...which is nice.If you need some food, Prather's is a great place to go nowadays. That or you can make the dreadful drive over the pass somewhere...prices are fair to what I'm seeing on the other side. And yes. I compared receipts so you don't have to.

I would leave 0 stars if I could. I’ve gone in here while in town on a few separate occasions, and spent good money. This time while be my last time I support here. Let’s not even talk about the prices. Ridiculous. Ultimately It’s the extremely poor customer service alone. Employees are very, very rude. For no reason at all. Embarrassing to say the least.

Everything was reasonably priced, considering this was in a small town in Colorado. The cashier was great. I can not remember his name, but if you need to know where something is located, he can tell you and was super cool about it. He said he knows everyone in the town.

Small but well stocked mountain town grocery that had almost everything we needed for spending 4 nights at a nearby airbnb. Good selection of cakes to celebrate a birthday, fresh produce and other cooking necessities. Prices were comparable to what we find in our northern Colorado town.

The store is pretty well stocked, has all major and some specialty items. It is pricier than grocery stores in Denver but not by much. The variety of brands per item is limited but you can find all ingredients for meals. The store is clean, well-organized, with friendly employees. Produce is fresh but of limited quantity. Best grocery store in vicinity.

We live in Indian Hills CO and vacation in Pike Nat'l Forest. We find this market a breath of fresh air. Prices are reasonable and I find everything I need. Produce is fresh and beautiful. I still don't understand why Kings and Safeway in Conifer and Evergreen can't have fresh beautiful produce like yours and at a reasonable price. Example your big beautiful red peppers $1.29 8/13/23. I went shopping 8/18/23 Safeway Evergreen $1.69 a wrinkled small red pepper. Fairplay CO is lucky to have you!!!..

Okay as one of the only options we could find close to our cabin. Prices were higher than normal, but expected as pretty remote from big city. I believe the altitude had effect on some of our produce going bad quicker. Decent selection of items.

Prathers Market has the tough job of addressing the food wishes of the Fairplay community and the many travelers who pass through on US 285 in a limited space. They do this well with reasonable produce and a great variety of meat and dairy products. Despite its size it offers an array of organic and vegetarian products. It's an asset for those of us living in the South Park valley who otherwise face a one hour or more drive to reach a major supermarket. Well done!

Went at Christmas and many items were picked through in the dairy section. Limited options there but the bakery did not disappoint. Tons of croissants, muffins, etc. Staff was friendly and lines were short. Prices were higher than I’m used to in texas but I’m assuming this is because it’s pretty much the only grocery store in FairPlay and it’s a small town

Walking through the store, I was asked if I needed help or found everything I needed three times! Super friendly staff and surprisingly good selection of goods considering the fairly remote mountainous location.I saw a few other reviewers complaining about pricing. These folks clearly do not understand supply chains and the incredible efforts it takes to supply high elevation remote locations with perishable goods.Highly recommend this establishment, and appreciate a good business when I see one.

There are a lot of reasons I’m glad I don’t live in Fairplay anymore, but not having to shop at this dumpster fire is probably the best one. I have had conversations with former employees who have told me that the high prices are because of the ridiculously high markup, not because their costs are so much more. Shameful.
