Excellent store with a bit of everything. I went in just to check them out and walked out with 2 books on hiking in CO.They offer everything from hardware to garden items to patio furniture and rugs.They have a rental section as well.The staff was friendly and helpful and the prices were reasonable.

Always great customer service never have to wait for anybody to come help me usually have everything I'm looking for and if and if they don't they can usually order it. Their key makers are on point. They have a great selection of outdoor goods. Their rentals are fairly priced and usually always in good shape. Rodney is one of the best guys that can help you. And their staff is always Pleasant.

I had a fantastic experience at Slavens, our local hardware store! We visited to find license plate screws, a float valve for the toilet, and some caulking. Every department we entered, a helpful staff member approached us and guided us to exactly what we needed. Great customer service and a wide selection of products made our trip enjoyable and efficient. Highly recommend Slavens for all your hardware needs!

I went there to get screws and weatherstripping for doors. The employees were very helpful in helping me find what I needed,While browsing through the store I noticed there were family pictures displayed, I want to thank the person that did that. It was so nice to see Mr. Slavens again.I moved to Cortez 42 years ago and worked at the Donut Whole on Main St. across from Brus paint store.It was so cool to see Mr. Slavens walking down Main St., Looking so dapper wearing his suits, hats, and walking with his cane. He was such a nice gentleman.

Living in a town with no Target (I don't shop at Wally World), it's always great to have a good hardware store. The prices are higher but the selection is there and all the folks who work there are friendly and helpful. Shop LOCAL!

We stopped by to buy dog food, they didn't have any stock. Bummer!But we got some other great things. We looked around and found some items we needed. Friendly employees and they are easy to find if you need help with anything.

Rude , that’s all I have to say I have spent thousands of dollars at this store over time. Yet they glare at me every time I go in and every time I leave I am 21 years old I admit I look young but this is ridiculous I will never go in this store again and I will recommend to everyone I know to stay out of true value Cortez

Workers are very helpful and friendly except for cashier, she asked if we was a member but told her we would like to become a member, she Totally ignored us finished ringing us up, and then gave us the total of our order, if someone spends over $100 bucks and asked to be a member of a store, why wouldn't we want a discount.. but it never happened 😕 cashier can do way better with customer service, example ( smile when speaking with customer, asked how everything go, and Do Not Ignore customers!!!) If you don't like your job then please find something you do like. We still kept a smile and told her to have a good day.. what we got was a Blank stare 😐

WOW! This store is amazing. There actually two levels not to mention the lumber yard. This place has everything under the sun. It's as well stocked as a very large ACE. The people here are super helpful and courteous even when you're going in there to "invent" something.

I was visiting town for Thanksgiving week, and stopped in with my brother and dad to get some materials for a little garage work. The store was very busy, as it was for Black Friday deals I am sure. We did not require any assistance, but I could tell that the staff were very helpful to other customers that were in the store. Well maintained store with plenty to choose from, as I would expect from any True Value.

Slavens Easy Care paint is super poor quality do not waste your money on there easy care latex paint it is absolute garbage don't ruin your walls with it. You will hate your self if you use it. Go-to Ace hardware I mean this with all my heart.....believe me !!!!

Shop here near daily. Great people especially the tall guy in the rental area this afternoon. I came in and parked next to a kid sitting in the car next to us alone. Having two children of my own and knowing what people are capable of we sat outside the store to wait for her parent to come.I ended up asking the guy in rental are if he knew about the kid and that I was worried of strangers he said dont worry he'll watch the car till a parent shows up. We NEED SLAVENS. This locally owned hardware store has all the needed items for home projects that you are looking for, like screen measured to order. The plumbing, painting needs and personal help. Tools for novice and skilled are right in the department. Assistance to answer your questions and direct you to the proper area and help you find what you need and how and why IT'S what you are looking.for. Good experience, knowledgeable sales personnel.

I’ve been shopping at Slavens for 8 years and will never step foot inside that building again. Nice folks, but won’t support their complete disregard for public safety during the pandemic. Almost none of their employees wear masks and when they’re helping you they have no regard for social distancing. It’s a bummer, because I love shopping local, but never again.

This hardware store used to be the best in town until they decided that they were no longer going to take their customers health seriously. They don't wear masks and they don't stand 6 feet away from patrons. Until they choose to take my/our health into consideration I will not be visiting this store again. I'll vote with my dollars by supporting other businesses in town.Have some class Slavens.

The staff needs some lessons on accepting members of their community. I have paid hard earned $$ there and honestly the whole staff acts like I'm bothering them. It's a shame such a small town store be so rude. I'm going to a REAL hardware store with smart and courteous staff.Thank you but no thank you.

My brother went to go buy a Milwaukee Radio from this store. I watched the worker pull the sale tag off an made my brother pay full price for the thing when they had it marked on sale. Older Gentleman with a long beard was upset after we left.
