Been shopping here regularly for almost 30 years, but that may have ended today. My wife, another regular, went in to buy six bottles of the wine she had previously purchased here a few weeks back when it was promoted as “wine of the month.” The girl at the counter proceeds to tell her that the wine now on display is the same one, which it was not. This escalates with the manager getting involved and he decides to have a similarly salty attitude and tries to explain that she just "doesn't understand our bag promotion." What??... Needless to say the attitude by both staff member was not appreciated, as there are many other places to buy great wine in Boulder who actually appreciate your business. Running off regular customers is not good for business. This place has lost it's way...

Finally stopped by after many recommendations and we *completely get it*. The selection is amazing, and Quinn helped us find some absolutely lovely bottles that we’re thrilled to try. We came in looking for something interesting, special - something to learn from, and got that and so much more.Looking forward to coming back and filling up our cellar. Thank you Quinn!

Good choice of Colorado craft beer. Helpful staff. You can build a case of mixed individual beers without a markup over 6 pack pricing and get a 10% discount.👍

After having been to a variety of stores in the greater boulder area, I have to confidently say that the beer selection here is unmatched to any other store in the area. Even Atlas Purveyors can not fully compete with their craft beer selection. They have the hottest craft beers, with everything from limited release IPAs to sours. You will absolutely not be disappointed if you go here to satisfy your craft craving. Their beer buyer must know what he's doing.

Great staff and location and a really nice selection. I really like the cooler in the back right with the craft beer beer singles. I've tried some great stuff this way and have learned about some really great breweries.Sadly, the last time we were there, that supply had been reduced and half of the cooler was other stuff. I hope that changes.Elsewhere in the store is a nice selection of canned mixed drinks, also sold individually. I prefer the craft beer, but I like to try new things, so I like this as well.It's fun when they have tastings here. I haven't bumped into that in a while, but keep your eyes open in case you do.Overall, this is a great spot. I just want more craft beer singles in that cooler again!

I'm sure the wine selection is great as well, but giving a shout out here specifically for the craft beer selection which is excellent especially for top local CO breweries and singles. Very customer-friendly policies as well, allowing you to break off individual cans from any 4 or 6 packs in the coolers, at the same price per can as it would have been for the full pack (unlike most stores which either don't let you do this and/or inflate the singles price).

This place is great and has a nice selection. They have an affordable selection as well as higher end stuff if that's your thing. Decent selection of beer as well, with a fridge that has new stuff rotating every week. Told a cashier that I didn't believe in expensive wine, which she didn't seem to find as funny as me, but overall a good place.

The team here is as great as the wine they sell. I have bought about a dozen bottles so far from them, each one something new I have never tried, and all have been great. A quick chat with anyone working there will get you the run down on what to get for an event or specific meal. They have wines across the whole price spectrum as well which is nice. I also really enjoy their selection of wines from outside the popular regions, I have had wines from Macedonia, Colorado, and Austria that were outstanding.

I lived in Boulder for three years about three blocks away from this store. While their selection is slightly limited (due to their size) it still quickly became my go-to stop for a quick beer run. All of their staff are extremely friendly and willing to help you find what you need, also quick and honest with recommendations if you're looking for something different. I'll miss your store!

The Boulder Wine Merchant is a really great local shop with very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Everything they choose to carry is selected and all price points are represented. I have never gotten a bad bottle or can of anything from them and their specialty items make it a go to place to find gifts for your favorite booze hound or wine enthusiast.

Friendly staff and such a great selection of craft beer. You can tell they also drink beer here, because the selection is very well curated. Definitely recommend for a more personal touch than a bigger box store! Easily a favorite and go-to for me.

There's something here for everyone. From bargain featured wines of the month to high-end bottles of rare finds, the wine is fairly priced and the staff is ready to share their knowledge to help you find what's best for your needs. They also have a great range of specialty beer and liquor and even some outstanding gourmet food items (check the fridge for some of the best bacon you'll ever have!).

I suppose the wine selection is OK although a tad sparse. But the indifference of the staff to their customers is absolutely astounding. Even the folks at Liquor Mart are friendlier. When I paid for my purchase, the cashier couldn't be bothered to look at me or say anything moderately pleasant.Even if the wine selection was great I wouldn't come back.

I'm not sure why people say they are snobby... Whenever I've gone into this store the service is always excellent. The people working come right up and ask to help. Paige, a handsome gray haired gentleman, is almost always there. He is knowledgeable about pairing wines with food. If I am going to a party or having one it is always nice to have a bit of his advice to help me pick - it adds a story that I can take to the party with me.

Fantastic selection of not only wine but also beer. What stands out the most for me is the amazing customer service. It's clear that the employees love what they do and really enjoy the opportunity to expose others to wonderful wines. They are always excited to help me choose something delicious and I appreciate feeling like a real customer not just a number.

My wife and I like coming in here on a Saturday for their wine tasting. The selection is great; the only downside is you will pay a little more than other stores in Boulder. However, you will find parking most of the time, and the staff is excellent.

After using Boulder Wine Merchant and our regular 'favourite pick' to shop for wine, and our recent $2000 spend over the last 3 months, we had an incredibly distasteful experience yesterday evening. Tuesday, 11 August at 6pm I went in to do my usual wine shop. Matt, who knows me by name, and whom I always hope to find on the floor was unfortunately not in. No one else offered me any help, and having noticed I left my BWM loyalty bag at home ALONG with my wallet & ID, I placed a couple picks on the counter and went to call my husband (who was standing outside to kindly allow other people to shop with the 3 pax limit inside) to make the purchase as I was without an ID. Well, the response from the lady behind the till was absolutely shocking. She yelled across the store at me for not having an ID, assuming I was a student, and then proceeded to refuse to allow my husband (who did have his ID) to continue to make the purchase. She shouted so loud that my husband almost left the shop with disgust, but he proceeded to insist that under law he is allowed to make the purchase. The result, a huge disappointment and leaving with a bad taste after such poor treatment despite our loyalty to Boulder Wine Merchant during our stay in Boulder over the last couple months.

Terrible service. Incompetent workers refuse to accept a vertical id even when it is legitimate and shows I’m 21. The ugly distasteful woman at checkout just shook her head and said no. We don’t want your 10% off discount for our next visit but thanks. Your store selection is trash and your workers are trashy

Wow, I'm surprised by the low ratings. Over the years, I've gone here many times, and always had a good experience. Added bonus: their descriptions are always fun to read. Sometimes I walk through just to read the display tags. Their monthly selections are often outstanding values.
