Had a great stay during their last weekend of the season. Very very friendly and hospitable group running the place. AND they had a pancake breakfast on Sunday morning which was so good. As a surprise they brought in a sauna for the weekend and it was awesome! Clean and beautiful campsites (stayed at site 1) with sounds of the Taylor river flowing across the street. Some things to know before you go:Some sites are on the parking lot so you can unpack easily- others are located away from the lot so you need to carry your things or put them in the wheelbarrows they provide. Vault toilets, no running water except for a pump (which was nice and cold!) located in the parking lot. Unlimited firewood! No showers, but they provide vouchers to go to the local community center about 15 min away which we did one day.Beautiful stay overall.

Excellent campground in a beautiful setting run by great people. Super well organized and thoughtful layout, with spacious and private sites, a clean and well maintained bathroom, and rare campground amenities such as mountain drinking water, free (!!!) firewood, wheelbarrows to bring things from car to site, a welcome beer at check in, free breakfast pancakes on Sundays. The owner Sam was awesome, super helpful when it came to hiking and mountain biking recommendations. The space itself is set right across from the Taylor River and you can hear the sound of the water at night when drifting off to sleep. There’s a nice nature trail right on site. The campground is close to both Crested Butte and Gunnison, with plenty of great activities nearby. Had a great stay here. Highly recommended!!

Loved everything about this trip! The owner Sam and his staff Emily were so helpful and friendly. They gave us some recommendations for trails to hike and we did every one! They definitely know what they are talking about. You can tell they are passionate about what they do, the grounds were very well maintained and the bathrooms were super clean! I highly recommend staying at Campfire Ranch on the Taylor. You won't regret it!Nearby activities: So many great hiking/biking trails near by!

We had an amazing experience at Campfire Ranch on the Taylor last weekend. The cleanliness of the site, especially the bathrooms, was impressive. The surroundings of the campground were beautiful, but the highlight was the proximity to the river - we could actually hear the sound of water from our tent at night. Although the campground is situated near a road, the traffic is minimal and didn't disturb us at all. Being close to Gunnison and Crested Butte towns was an added advantage. We could easily visit the towns grab Secret Stash or hang out at T-Bar. Overall, we loved the experience at Campfire Ranch so much that we are considering camping here in the future instead of staying at a hotel. It's more cost-effective and offers the same camping experience with the convenience of nearby amenities.

This was such an amazing experience! Sam was awesome! He greeted us with little gift bags with shower coupons and goodies. He also gave great hiking recommendations. The camping spot was clean and very well kept. Also free firewood!? That is unheard of! It is very close to both gunnison and crested butte, if you wanted to go to town. This was one such a great camping spot with amazing hosts!

Great location for our stay in the Crested Butte area. Quiet tent only campground just a short drive into CB. We left camp at 5:30 am for a hike out of CB and encountered almost zero traffic. Staff is super friendly and helpful. Everything is well maintained. Pit toilet, potable well water, and complimentary firewood. Peaceful setting near the river.

We had THE BEST time at Campfire Ranch this weekend. The campsite is super well maintained, the scenery is epic and the staff are all so awesome (special shoutout to camp intern Emily!!). You can tell that the Campfire Ranch crew really wants you to have a great time and they truly care about your experience. They also help you book super epic experiences. They set us up with a white water rafting trip and it was amazing - highlight of the trip. I wouldn't have thought to do it without their suggestion. Also they had great recommendations for hikes and places to grab lunch while in town. Can't recommend it enough - we'll be back!

recently had the best weekend at Campfire Ranch, and I must say it was an absolutely amazing experience from start to finish. I wish I could rate 10 stars instead of 5! First and foremost, the location is breathtaking- we got there at night and then woke up and saw the canyon walls right in front of us with the soft sound of the Taylor river right across from us! The staff at Campfire Ranch are exceptional. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with warmth and genuine hospitality. The staff at Campfire Ranch are exceptional. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with warmth and genuine hospitality (they even invited us to hang around the campfire, and we made them some dinner!) The team went above and beyond to ensure that our stay was comfortable and were always available to answer questions, provide recommendations for activities, and their passion for what they do truly shines through. Overall it was incredible and, we booked another stay before we left!

Recently went on a roadtrip with two of my roommates and stayed at Campfire Ranch on the Taylor for three nights. The location was the perfect distance from CB and Gunni. The bathroom was very clean, the scenery was beautiful, and the campsite amenities were great. Sam and Keenan were also so friendly and helpful. At one point, we locked our keys in the trunk, but Keenan offered to contact the local locksmith and even provided some extra goodies to pass the time. Would definitely visit the area again and stay at Campfire Ranch! Highly recommend!!

Great location, amazing staff and everything you’ll ever you need for camping! Unlimited firewood and drinking water both included- not to mention clean bathrooms! From the time we checked in, Jack was so personable! He gave us great recs for hiking and restaurants. As two novice campers, he even helped us put up the tent. 10/10 recommend

She gave us some awesome hiking trails to check out, we did all 4 of her suggestions and they were all awesome! The hospitality is off the charts! Greated with a goodie bag and beverages, very clean bathroom, and well maintained walking path and sites. 10/10 recommend. Will stay here again 👌

Camped at Campfire Ranch for 3 nights over Memorial Day weekend and it was an awesome experience. Sam was a great host and treated us like friends. He provided solid recommendations that turned out to be amazing hikes, would not have figured that out on our own, just too much to sort through out there to find the perfect hike. The amenities like firewood, clean bathroom, good water, gift bag, and a few cold courtesy beers added a touch of class that exceeded any car camping I have experienced. Sam has a unique and super cool approach to camping, look forward to other locations opening. If considering it, extra $ worth it, go for it! See you again Sam!

This was our first time camping in Gunnison and we couldn’t have asked for a better campsite and host. Our campsite was a little further from the bathrooms and common areas, but worth the short walk because it felt more private. The bathroom is very clean and there is unlimited fire wood, clean water and trash. All those amenities eliminated all those little stresses of camping! Lastly, our host Sam was awesome and gave us amazing recommendations on hikes and things to do in the area. Highly recommend!

Wow! We loved our stay at Campfire Ranch- Almont, beautiful location, the staff was extremely friendly, and accommodating. Highly recommended, they gave us suggestions on places to rent paddle boarding in CB, coffee shops, and local restaurants. We will definitely back for another visit soon. Sam and Keenan were amazing! Thank you.

Really great experience here all across the board. Came with a group of 10 girls and our dogs. We had sites 1-2 which were recommended to us and they were such a great fit for a group setting. We had great communication through email and also in person. Staff is very friendly and reliable! Our campsite had plenty of flat spots for tents, plus unlimited firewood and clean restrooms. Only 10 mins from town and 20 mins from CB. Such a lovely spot!Nearby activities: Access to the Taylor river, downtown crested butte, fishing, hiking, parks

This is not a difficult review. For a campsite, it is awesome and only about 5 minutes from the little town of Almont and maybe 15-20 minutes from Gunnison. Only grip is that it is on the road....kind of BUT! very quiet at night with the only sound being the river flowing and honestly, not a deterrent at all but just an FYI to you. Very peaceful overall. The campsite was super clean and the camp staff were extremely helpful. You are able to rent gear if needed, free firewood and free potable drinking water (I say free but it is probably in the cost of the campsite but it was not a hidden fee!!!).The Campsite:The path to your campsite is a mixture of gravel and mulch and very well marked with some trees and a rock path. I recommend trying to get campsite 7 or up (campsite 8 is reserved for ADA) if you want to have to hike/walk in your camping gear a short distance. They provide wheel barrows for your convenience to haul your stuff in and out. Campsites 1 seems a bit of a walk but extremely doable and honestly, further off the road. All campsites come with an elevated gravel pad for your tent, a clean picnic table, and a shovel/bucket for extinguishment of fire in your existing fire pit. Did I mention there is FREE firewood with no mount restrictions for your campsite? The one bathroom available is a typical Forestry type bathroom with an inside flare to help make it feel less......Forestry primitive. The cleanliness of the bathroom though is beyond what I expected. Emily, our camp staff member at the time of our stay, definitely took it upon herself to maintain that bathroom throughout the day, numerous times. I never once went into the bathroom hoping I wouldn't find what I expected to find in a campsite bathroom. Water.... in the parking lot there is an old farmhouse type hand pump potable water station for everyones use. This is a gravel filtered, monthly tested, potable/drinking water.....yet again, unlimited water! All-in-all, the best campsite I have stayed at in a while. The Staff:From the minute I booked the campsite I had email communication and when I had questions, I just emailed, as suggested, and had a response within 24 hours. When we arrived, the campsite check-in station is a very distinguishable trailer with a fold down back door that blends well with its surroundings. Emily, the staff member working during our stay, was very happy, upbeat, and welcoming. A free beer upon arrival, a goody bag and nothing but smiles. She made my family (wife, daughter (13), son (10), and myself) feel very welcomed. She asked our plans and if we needed/wanted recommendations of what to do so naturally, we said nothing was needed.....until the next day when we mentioned that we potentially wanted to go rafting. She said she had the place called Three Rivers Rafting. Emily said she would give them a call and see what she can do for setting it up. By days end, she came back to us and told us where to be and at what time (days/time provided to her upon initial discussion). Emily was able to roll the price into our CC on file with the campsite. Seriously felt like we were staying at a resort. Emily had it. She was on par with our needs. Never complained or looked like we were inconveniencing her. At one point, my wife and I thought she was an owner but later found out she was a CSU Intern just working for the summer. All in all our experience was amazing. The hospitality from the staff, location, friendliness of our fellow campers and a good damn time.....we will be back needless to say and we urge you to try it out.

Campfire Ranch exceeded all my expectations and then some! The views in the canyon are unreal, the facilities are super clean and well-maintained, and the staff are incredible, welcoming people. Location is unbeatable up against the river and nestled between Crested Butte and Gunnison. Make sure to stay for pancakes on Sunday! Can't wait to go back this summer.

Visited Campfire Ranch with a number of friends and have to say that their unique approach to the camping experience was incredibly refreshing and far surpasses other camping sites/services we’ve used in the past. Sam, Keenan, Jack and the rest of the team were incredibly friendly as well as knowledgeable, giving us some awesome recommendations for local hikes and activities. We will be back.

Campfire Ranch is so unique and unlike any other camping experience. The best part is the incredible staff, everyone is so kind, welcoming, and makes sure that you have a good time! It doesn’t hurt that it is located in one of the most beautiful places in Colorado. If you like to have fun, go!Nearby activities: Amazing mountain biking, fishing, and hiking.Safety: Very safe!

I have been to Campfire Ranch a couple times now and highly recommend this spot to others. I am not the most knowledgeable about the area, but am always able to get great recommendations on local activities within the area. My brother had a great float trip down the Taylor that ended right at camp. After the float we were welcomed back by a cold beer. In addition to that we had a couple of great days mountain biking at Hartman rocks with some fellow campers. Lastly, the fly fishing experience was made better by having the local insight on flies and popular areas on the river. 11/10 would recommend this as a great spot for an adventurous weekend getaway.

If you're looking for the best overall place to camp in Colorado, look no further because you have found it! Stunning scenery, relaxing vibe, great service, and the world's cleanest/nicest vault toilet (seriously!) are all among the great things you'll have when you visit Campfire Ranch! Best of all, Sam (the owner) is all about making sure you have the best camping experience possible! He is the most attentive, gracious, and accommodating host imaginable. From the minute you arrive at your campsite you feel relaxed, since so many things that are sometimes stressful about camping are taken care of. Free unlimited firewood (HUGE VALUE), refreshing drinking water from an aquifer, clean & spacious campsites, camping gear available for rent, ample parking, not to mention the welcome/check-in basket & beverage of your choice all combine to make Campfire Ranch a real gem! My family and I have camped here multiple times for 3 summers now and it seems to get better each time we visit. From my little kids to my 75 y/o dad, all of us find the place so enjoyable. Every time we leave we cannot wait to go back!

Campfire Ranch on the Taylor was awesome! Sam was an amazing host, very welcoming ( I mean who doesnt love a welcome beer😉) and the campsite was stunning. By far our favorite place. The boys fished, and caught brown trout, along with seeing amazing wildlife, Big horned sheep, elk, and deer. The campsites sits along the beautiful mountains. While we were there he had fun things to do, wood-fire sauna, pancake breakfast, he was beyond helpful in setting is up on a great hike. We will definitely be staying again and telling all our friends and family about this amazing find. Thanks Sam!

This was our family’s first tent camping experience, and it was a great way to start our new adventure! Sam, the host, was so friendly and helpful. It was great to meet someone who clearly loves what he does, and genuinely wants to share his passion with others. The sites and pathways were tidy and well-kept. The bathroom was the cleanest campsite/trail bathroom I’ve ever seen! There was fresh mountain water available to campers and passers by, and the unlimited firewood was a major plus! Along the nature trail was a triangle hammock that Sam had hung up for campers to use. Our three boys loved it!Sam provided pancakes for everyone on Sunday morning, and even supplied us with real maple syrup! All in all, it was the best way to start off camping as a family. I’d definitely go back and would recommend Campfire ranch to anyone wishing for a homey, /rustic experience.

Amazing spot to camp, close to other towns! Welcome drinks and free coffee and we got pancakes in the morning of our last day. Tanner was helpful and made us feel very welcome! Can't wait to come back next summer. Highly recommend this place. Plus side you get free firewood and the bathroom is super clean! Definitely wanna make it on your list.

This place is absolutely amazing. Part of me was briefly tempted to give it 1 star because once everyone finds out about how fantastic this campground is it’ll be completely booked up every time I want to come back to stay in Crested Butte and I’ll be crushed ;)But seriously, I’m so stoked I found this place! It’s just 20 minutes from Crested Butte and a short drive to a ton of trails. The sites are beautiful, clean, spacious, and private. Falling asleep to the gentle white noise of the beautiful Taylor River was incredibly peaceful. The bathroom was always clean, there’s tons of parking, and the water is actually filtered spring water from the mountains that tastes great (and is tested regularly.)Every last detail has been thought of here. The anticipation of guests’ needs does not go unnoticed. Sam, the owner, is not only friendly and welcoming but he is also very knowledgeable about the area and all the outdoor recreating it has to offer. He was great with trail recommendations for hiking and biking. He also seems to be a dedicated steward of the environment, and his passion for preserving nature and promoting environmentalism is laced throughout the campground.Happy I booked and I’ll certainly be returning! Can’t recommend it enough!
