I love this shop. I would argue that it is the best aquarium store in the area. Not only is the staff incredibly knowledgeable, but it's obvious that they are passionate about aquariums and the animals in their store.After extensive research, I decided to start an aquarium, and wanting to avoid PetSmart and other corporate stores, I chose Extreme Marine to help me get started. Even after studying what I wanted, when I left I felt like I'd had a truly edifying experience. I left the store with a beautiful 29 gallon kit, all the water I'd need provided by the store, and conditioner to get my water cycle started.I later went back for plants and plant food (they have an excellent selection) and this led to a fairly in-depth discussion about my goals for my tank. Needless to say, this is my go-to place for my aquarium needs, and I'd be quite happy just popping in and perusing the aisles as well.

Extreme Marine is a great place! If you want to support a small business this is the place. Clara is very knowledgeable and helpful. She helped us save our fish that was dying by providing the correct information that I was able to use. He went from floating around the tank (getting close to death) to now swimming around like he was before. My two boys are very happy! I've been around Ventura since the 1970's and I love to support the small businesses here. Thank you Clara and Extreme Marine for all your help! Go check them out!

We were driving through ventura and needed two items. We called ahead and had wonderful service and everything we needed for our reef tank. Scott and his team were wonderful. I think we had at least 3 and maybe 4 people over 20 min ask if we needed help. Great service!

This place has absolutely everything you need for ANY tank set up. Plus, Cole and Clara know soooo much about everything in the store. I've worked with Cole both of them multiple times and have ALWAYS left feeling confident with the information I learned. You'll be fully prepared for whatever tank design you think of! If you're looking for a One Stop Shop for equipment, accessories, and animals with employees that actually know what they're talking about, that place is here!

Best aquatic store in Ventura county! The employees are knowledgable and helpful, and the store always has a great variety of freshwater and saltwater fish in stock for really reasonable prices. I have been shopping here for six years and I’ll never buy fish anywhere else!

Great local fish shop, I drive past 3 big box pet stores on my way over to this place for a reason.Every associate is knowledgeable and helpful no matter how busy they appear. What I’m assuming is the owner spoke to me for a good while and it is clear that he loves his business and the aquarium hobby as a whole. It’s refreshing to meet someone as excited about their business as you are about purchasing their product. I’ve purchased plants, Cherry shrimp, and filter media so far. But I will be back when I build my big tank.

Such a great fish/aquarium shop!I enjoy bringing my daughter here. We’ve purchased a number of fish and some fish food.They have such a wide variety of fish here. I really think you could find any fresh water fish that you want. I’ve seen crawfish and baby lobster for tanks. You can also find shrimp and tadpoles on some occasions.The saltwater fish are beautiful. So many variety. Starfish, tanks, and plant life!

I came in, looked at the fish. After the employee finished with the customer he was with. He asked if he could help me. I picked out the fish I wanted. He said he was going to pull them. I went to the front of the store to look at some other corals and anemones, it was taking him a long time, so I went to the back and he was helping another customer and pulling his fish instead of mine. This customer came in after me, so I left my cell would’ve been two to $300. I will not go back to these people again it’s a shame when they feel that men should be helped before women.

I've been going to this store for over a decade. The staff here is always very kind. Some of the staff have their fortes in different areas. This is great since the store is dealing with such a variety of fish including fresh, brackish and salt water! Alexander is generally the employee that helps me acquire my fish. Alexander takes great care bagging and handling the fish and always helps me with a smile! I will keep visiting this store in order to support Scott's awesome business!

I've been shopping with Extreme Marine for about 3 years now and they always have great staff that are knowledgeable about the hobby, decent prices and rotating stock that keeps me coming back. Their tank displays rotate regularly and are always very healthy. All fish I've purchased from them have been healthy and hearty, no issues. Love them! My favorite fish store in the county by far.

Great owner, he was skilled and was nice. I bought 2 catfish and they hasn't died yet unlike PetSmart or Petco. large selection of saltwater fish and freshwater! The selection of fish was great! Although the prices were kind of bad as in high prices.

Found out a lot. Why my Angel Fish died but I was doing it for 5 year's. I would drain all the water out of the tank and clean it with water. Fill tank and put the fish back in. No heater. They went from an inch and a half to over 4 inches. I did this for 5 year's NO problem. Then one last week started swimming up side down and died. Then my other one started to swim up side down and died over night. Now I have guppies and a heater. We will see how long I can keep them. The Guy at the store was GREAT I did NOT get his name. Brown hair and beard young man.

My new happy place. Heidi is friendly and REALLY knows her stuff! Dillon M was helpful and cool too! Bought a beautiful compressicep and brichardi. Their java fern was ridiculously large and fairly priced! Coming back for my Tanganyikan catfish soon. Photo is of the frontosa I just bought from them.

Went in there knowing absolutely nothing other than we wanted to start getting into this scene. Cole put us on the proper direction of how to start, things to know, products to use and fully educated us on the process. This was absolutely next level customer service. They had an excellent amount of saltwater fish and freshwater fish. I had a good experience there, but i found a dead betta in a sponge filter. They also kept bettas in bowls while they kept others in planted tanks.

Updated my review. Staff was very helpful in setting up a salt water tank from stratch. However after several visits it's hard to get help here. I probably have a lot questions and they just seem too busy to help. I wanted to stay loyal but I will be looking for a new fish store.Update: 3/1/22 I was in the area so I stopped in. The guy who helped me was very helpful in looking for a particular fish. I ended up buying 2 salt water fish. He told me they have huge shipment coming in this weekend so I may return to see what they got.

Okay so I thought it was a great buying experience very knowledgeable staff. I should have done my homework on German Rams. I had no idea that they are overbred and can die suddenly. I feel like that's really something they should tell you. You live you learn. Nice selection of fish just super overpriced and since they only have a 24 hour return policy you can pay $40 for a ram that can and probably will die at any moment.

Great fish store. Everybody is pretty cool here. It's fun to check out the tide pools. And the huge fish they have. They have fresh water and salt water tanks and fish. Reasonable prices as well.

Extreme Marine has a great selection of items and creatures for fresh or salt water setups. I get supplies for my turtle pond here all the time. The staff knows the products and can help you with fish tank issues.

I love this store! It’s a great experience each time I go in until recent. I recent bought 4 neon tetra and 2 different breeds of cory cats. The Cory’s are MAGNIFICENT and thriving in my community. As for the tetra’s.... 1 actually died on the way home inside the bag. I had not noticed until i put the bag in to acclimate and was going to finally release into aquarium. I should have just taken them all back as I did take the one dead one back for an exchange. They exchanged no problem and all seemed well until today. It seems the other 3 died from whatever the other tetra originally had. They were swimming in spirals and I immediately took them out before death. As of now I have the one left surviving with the other tetras i had prior. My water is perfectly fine and the community was thriving before adding these fish. I’m only hoping my entire stock is not depleted after this experience. I still will be going back no matter what!

This place is the best! They have the widest variety of fresh water and salt water fish and supplies. I've bought lots of fish from them and they're all beautiful and healthy. They're also very helpful and answering any questions you might have and their prices are great. It's fun just to go there and look around at all the fish. It's also a small cell phone business, and the owner Scott is great! So please go visit Extreme Marine and get yourself some fish!!

My son and I were in Extreme Marine yesterday for some supplies. This was our first time in this store as we are from Carpinteria. I’m not sure what’s up with the negative reviews here. Worth the trip!I’m not from Ventura but living up in Santa Barbara we don’t have a ton of great options for freshwater fish. I’ve been waiting over two months to find a time that I could escape my two kids under two and have a little alone time with stocking my new aquarium.Not only did they have an excellent selection, but the customer service and knowledge was off the charts. I really appreciated not feeling rushed when asking novice questions, even though there were other people in line to be served.
