Well, I have been shopping at this feed store since 2003, so 20 years. I shopped with the previous owners, and stayed with them when Sam bought the business, and through his learning curve and challenges as a feed store owner. We mostly purchase hay at this feed store, and we have experienced all kinds of things in the hay, the regular rocks and sticks, but also trash, and one time even underwear! As we had these experiences, we never once complained. We would just shift our hay purchases elsewhere, and Sam would lose our business for a while. This feed store happens to be the closest to our place, so we go back and get hay when convenient for us. I purchased two bales of alfalfa 9/27/23, and found it again to be TRASH HAY..... literally. I went in and spoke with Sam, and discussed with him the loss of our best goat, due to a blockage, and explained to him that styrofoam and other trash is NOT digestible for animals. He said that goats are able to eat anything!! This is absolutely not true, and if he doesn't know this, then he has no business buying hay or feed for animals.I brought in my receipt for $43.98 for the two bales, and a ziplock bag with *some* of the trash collected from the bales, now 1/2 bale remaining. I asked him what he thought was fair to do. I called my husband, and he thought that it would be fair to refund the money I paid for the two bales, $43.98. I asked Sam to give me a refund for $43.98, and he said this was "not fair." He was first unwilling to give ANY refund, then refund of $18, then $20, then the price of one bale, $21.99, or give me another bale of trash hay. I walked away. What is fair? Hard to say what is fair. God is our Judge. Mine and his both. We won't be back to Sam's store, Ranch Feed and Supply ever again.Be extremely discerning about where you purchase hay to feed your beloved animals. Know that when you throw flakes in their feeders, that you are providing them with the best possibly available, and not some trash that he gets cheaper to make more profit. He has to deal with what he is doing as a business man and as a person, and I dont know how he can sleep at night, but that's on him.I am posting this here after exhausting all other means available to me to solve this problem, and as a public service to people who love their animals, so you all dont have losses and learn the hard way. I'm really sorry to have to post this, as I usually refrain from posting bad reviews, but this one is well-deserved.

We bought a nice chicken coop and run here. The entire coop and run wind up being 139" long x 43" wide. The assembly comes in 4 flat pack boxes. All the parts are clearly labeled and very well packed. The first thing you have to do is paint every surface. Twice. There are a lot of parts and it takes more than a couple of hours to paint everything. The most difficult part of the painting is the mesh along the inside surfaces of the run. It's tedious.Once everything is painted, it goes together really simply. It's definitely a two person assembly job. Like I said earlier, the instructions are clear and easily understood. Assembly is straightforward and the steps are in a logical order. We decided to add a base to keep the coop and run off the ground. The base is 2"x12"x139" with a mesh hardware cloth underneath to keep varmits out and chickens in.We also plan on using the composted and enriched media of the run to fertilize the garden. Thinking ahead, we needed a way to get the run off the base without having to crawl in and through chicken poop to unscrew the run from the base. So, I added 4 barrel bolts (2 on each side) to hold the run on laterally and longitudinally as well as a pair of hooks and eyes (one on each side} at top to hold the coop to the run.Probably the biggest drawback to this particular coop is the tray for the coop itself. It's not really deep enough and, when pulled from the coop, the top layer is going to be guillotined off and fall in to the bottom of the run.We also decided we wanted to add a little more ventilation as well as be able to see and interact with the chicken. I built a little mesh "window" that allows more air to flow in and for us to see the chickens in the coop.Delivery was reasonably priced, though the driver offered no help to get the coop out of his truck.

I used to always go to the Tractor Supply Co. in El Cajon until I drove by this place. I was greeted by Sylas and Justin and before I even had a chance to get my wallet out, they had already carried my feed to my car, checked me out, and asked if there was anything else I needed help with.Absolutely INCREDIBLE customer service!I've been a returning customer ever since. And even when they're not there, Kyle has made sure that all my questions are answered. I don't know who hired these boys but they deserve some recognition! This place is incredible and will continue to be a loyal customer!

Great place to go! Stop here instead of going further to the Tractor store. This Mom and Pop place is better. Great hay by the bale (3 string 100lbs) and has the animal bedding pellets. Lots more and friendly helpful service.

Buyer Beware! Due to the Newcastle disease that hit California most places will not replace any chickens if you get roosters with your layers. I wish the staff would have mentioned this ahead of time when I was buying my chicks instead of letting me find out the hard way.

We buy all our feed and supplies here. The staff is friendly and the owner is very knowledgeable. My daughter loves coming for the cats and chicks. It really keeps her busy seeing all the animals in and outside of the store.

Got two bundles of star, $20, they had chick's, and gave me a lead to find ducklings and turkeys. Not a bad spot, sort of out of the way if you're on the coast, but not a bad drive.

Love this place great stuff and awesome staff and very affordable I’m just not so sure about the times because their website says they close at 7pm during the week and 6pm on the weekend they are closed before they time! Is it because of day light savings they close earlier!
