This review is mainly for Rite Aid Mt Shasta's supposed pharmacy tech "training" program. All of the people who left one star reviews as customers, might be interested to know what actually goes on behind the scenes. I entered this program after being told by Joseph the pharmacist, that I would be trained extremely well. He assured me that I would be taught how to do everything from the ground up. I even turned down a scholarship to attend the pharmacy tech school of my choice because of how well he said I would be trained. He explained that Rite Aid's training program is free, and once you complete the online portion, you get a certificate and your pharmacy tech license. The difference between what I was told and what actually happened is laughable. Trainees at this pharmacy receive no actual "training" in any sense of the word. You are barely shown something one time, and then expected to do it perfectly and at lightning speed thereafter. If you make a mistake, or ask questions, you will be promptly yelled at by the pharmacist in front of the other employees. You are given a manual outlining Rite Aid's vision of proper training in their pharmacies, but that's apparently just a formality for the current pharmacist. Maybe they are just used to stabilize wobbly chairs or something. My very first day I was pushed into cashiering, and you know who showed me how to do that? You guessed it, a fellow trainee! The manual expects you to be trained at each work station repetitively for weeks at a time until you are proficient at each. The Mt Shasta Rite Aid pharmacy expects you to work as if you are already a certified tech from day one. And as for certification, how would you feel about having your prescription filled by a trainee who has no real idea what they are doing? How about having a trainee bill your insurance? Would you like to call the pharmacy and have a trained professional answer your medication questions? That might happen here, but you are just as likely to have a trainee fumbling their way through your patient profile trying desperately to accommodate. After all, they have probably been yelled at least once today already by the pharmacist or other staff. As someone who was in nursing school before, the blatant disregard for patient safety, respect, and privacy at this pharmacy is astounding. I was only told about contamination when I asked directly since I happened to see it in the manual. Turns out there are certain medications that can cause cross contamination when subsequent meds are counted on the same tray. Who knew? I sure didn't, and you would think that would be one of the first things you were taught. But then, they don't actually teach you anything at this pharmacy. The pharmacist and staff pharmacist constantly talk about the customers behind their backs. At the end of almost every interaction, they laugh and talk about how stupid they all are, and how they don't know anything about their medications. I was told by the staff pharmacist that all the people in this area are entitled, and dumb. I was told that the less information I gave them, the better. They are both extremely arrogant, rude and inappropriate. If you care for your family and yourself, you will not fill your prescriptions at this pharmacy.I was let go from the program after only six weeks with no real reason whatsoever. I guess I wasn't performing up to par with a certified tech. Oh, but wait, that's right, I wasn't a certified tech, I was a TRAINEE! The very definition, last time I checked, was that you are still learning, and shouldn't be expected to perform as if you had already finished the program. I was only 24% finished with the online portion, imagine how efficient I might have been had I been allowed to reach 100%. The work environment in this pharmacy is toxic. In the end I am glad I never became one of the kool-aid drinking zombies at this place.

I left the ER with a rx. I have covid, I was masked up and unaware that I couldn't enter the store. Instead of having compassion for a patient not feeling well at all, I was rudely told by and pharmacy tech that I am not allowed at the store at all. Then when I told her that all she had to do was nicely ask me to leave, she rudely said "thanks, have a good day". I'll never go there again.

The pharmacy is consistent in it’s incompetence. Telephone holds of 40 minutes, filling the wrong prescription then refusing to take it back 5 minutes after leaving and realizing the error, and not refunding us. After waiting several hours for an Rx to be filled, calling to check it’s status and being told it was set back to the provider because refills are not authorized (this was an initial order, not a refill). I could go on. Switched to Mt Shasta Pharmacy- viva la difference!

This place fails big time! I've been waiting on a specialty medication for over month!! I am now really ill. Was even asked to call and remind them to do their job!! Yet they fail to answer their phone!! This is my life they are messing with. I suggest using a different pharmacy as I willbe transferring

Love to shop there, but it takes an act of God to get someone on the phone from pharmacy. They let it ring until it rolls over to the automated system during work hours. Called 7 times in a row, same thing happened. I know they're busy but damn

Flabbergasted. I have a 12 year old diabetic dog who requires 3 units of insulin twice a day. I request a box of their smallest needles and they treated me like I was a tweaker. I’ve been using this pharmacy since I was a child. Rose and who ever the pharmacist is working today, you are both cruel. I went to CVS and not only did they sell me what I needed, but they also asked about my dog and treated me how customers should be treated. I’ve known the service here is abysmal for years, but I have NEVER been treated so disrespectfully and cruelly. Thanks for punishing my poor old dog just because you felt like wielding your small amount of power over others. I already filled a complaint with your ethics department and tomorrow I’ll be calling your customer service lines. I’ll be calling whoever I need to make sure I remain a thorn in your side for as long as I can.

I have been a customer for well over a decade. When I spoke to the pharmaciest in regards to an as needed medication being that they have been filling automaticly every 2 weeks when it's AS NEEDED as it's never happened before. He would not listen to what I was trying to tell him. Asked for his name he accused me of being rude. Said he wouldn't help me if I continued to be rude. I told him asking his name wasn't rude. I asked for the pharmacy manager. Said he was the pharmacy manager. Told him I was driving down to see him. Arrived 20 minutes later (1:48 now) and he was gone. Worst customer service I have ever gotten. Now thinking about moving all my, and my family's, prescription needs to CVS or Walmart.

On 2/25/2022I picked up diabetic test strips for my wife.Unfortunately I had to pay $50 for strips that were not for her machine and are not returnable. The pharmacist received a request to fill the order acceptable to her insurance…. They had no idea what insurance to charge to. So they filled the prescription not knowing what type of monitor she had. When I arrived the charge was nearly $150. When I provided the insurance card, they processed and dropped the price to $49.99.When I called to complain, he indicated that he remarked if I was sure about the medication. He did not. He also said he asked my wife. My wife was not there.I firmly believe this pharmacist should be removed. He is apparently new as I have not had issues with this establishment before. After reviewing the google reviews, I see there are many bad reviews. No doubt, this will have an affect on business.3/14/2022I was told by Corporate 3 weeks ago that a regional manager would contact me in 3-5 days. Never happened. If anyone would like to participate in a class action suit, I am open to contact.7/14/2022Happy to say that Rite Aid stepped up to do the right thing. After talking to a Corporate representative, the local store agreed to give me a monitor that matched the test strips I was given.I am also pleased to see free N-95 being given away in the store.

Everyone is local and everyone is well-trained, helpful, and friendly. The pharmacy is a fluid, productive machine, and even in the busiest of times, they're open, cordial, and can answer any question you have.

EDITED 6/2/2023 - RiteAid is still filthy, understocked, and understaffed, when the other stores and pharmacies within a mile radius are FINE. Last week they refused to accept a return of hair products stating they are being "abused." I pulled up the national return policy, which says nothing about this. Showed it to the manager, "too bad." Asked her for a printout of the new policy and she said she could get it to me. Made me wait while she helped 5-6 customers when there was another cashier doing nothing, went into the back, and after 10 minutes, did not return. Contacted corporate, they said they would be in touch three separate times, no call. Complaint now filed with the BBB so we'll see. I am moving all of my prescriptions and am 100% boycotting RiteAid from now on. #neveragain.RiteAid in my area has had major problems for decades with hiring and management. The store is often dirty, is under-staffed, and has a poor track record with filling some of my prescriptions. They failed on several occasions to let me know my medication wasn't in stock and was going to take some time to fill (a week in one case). I had to call several times to find out. Store personnel will not pick up the general line. Since Covid, it is even worse. As of 5/15/2022 about 70% of inventory was out of stock. There were no batteries, there is no makeup, no office supplies, etc. They try to keep critical things like batteries in stock, yet as of last week there were almost none. Meanwhile, their garden section is perfectly fine. They had plenty of Valentine's candy in stock, meanwhile, I could not buy the medical supplies I needed. They also have a problem with vagrants out front and since there is no management, nothing is done. I was accosted by a very aggressive panhandled just a few days ago. I tried to call the store. No answer, so I had to call the police, who took care of it.The store in Mt. Shasta is causing rural blight and needs to be shut down. There is a nice CVS in a tiny location down the street that would do a good job of running a proper pharmacy.RiteAid is known for hiring only part-time, then rotating schedules so employees can't get another job. Until they pay their employees and treat them properly, RiteAid will continue to make billions yet will suffer the karmic repercussions that are forthcoming, one way or the other.RiteAid also did not enforce masks at the beginning of Covid, and during the heaviest surges, except for a several-week window. Their staff fills prescriptions without wearing masks. There are no mandates, yet they are obligated to keep customer safe and they choose not to. I have to wear a mask at work and I have my own office and don't even interact with people very much. Your customers are often sick, RiteAid! We need to be protected from Covid, even now. Especially now.The floors are always filthy. They have had plastic sheeting hanging from the ceiling into buckets for over 6 months, blocking aisles and creating a trip hazard. THERE IS NO EMERGENCY EXIT either. Burnt-out fluorescent lights are left to blink incessantly, causing a seizure risk for epileptic customers such as myself.RiteAid, if you can hear me, please shutter the Mt. Shasta, California store and let another pharmacy do the job.

Good Morning,My name is Tina and I would like to take a moment to inform you that the Pharmacy at Rite Aid here in Mount Shasta is going downhill. I do understand that they are understaffed as Sophia just informed me when I called today.Let me start at the beginning:I called to refill my husband's prescription (since I am at work I could not leave to do it in person, which I would usually do) S - Pharmacy answered and asked if I could be placed on hold. I said sure. after 21 minutes I figured she had forgotten so I called back. S - Pharmacy answered again and asked if I could be put on hold I have 2 calls in front of you. I said (not too friendly on my part I admit) I have been on hold for 20 minutes already. She shot back not too friendly "I'm all by myself" and the line went dead. She had hung the phone up. I called back again. When S - Pharmacy answered she did not ask to put me on hold and I asked if she had the time or should I make other arrangements since I was on hold for 20 min and then hung up. She asked what I needed. I put in the prescription and then asked for the corporate's phone number. Sophia stated she does not have access to it, so I asked to speak with the Pharmacist. I was put on hold again and then since I am at work and had already used both of my breaks for the day. I hung up.I understand being understaffed however it is unprofessional to tell your customers this and to be rude to them because you are understaffed. If she had apologized for the wait or hang-up, it would have been a totally different story. I would have gone out of my way to make her feel better about her day. I do not believe that taking her situation out on customers is acceptable. We all are going through things and especially at the Pharmacy the customers do not need snarkey or condescending. Respect flows both ways.I have attached a photo of my call log with the pharmacy.

I just received a nasty call that I was wasting their energy because my Dr sent a Rx to them per my insurance and it was supposed to go to another pharmacy so they called to get it transferred and that prompted rite aid to call me and tell me to NEVER have another Rx to them because they will cancel it and never call them either. I tried to explain what happened but he just talked over me and then hung up on me!

I dont know if they sell drug tests at the pharmacy, but everyone working in the pharmacy needs a drug test and a course in hospitality. Worst people i have ever met in my entire life... RUDE and i hope you get shut down....I wish I could give a - 5 star rating because it's that bad ... 👎 👎

I’ve experienced the worst service at this pharmacy then anywhere I’ve been. It can literally takes days to get an RX filled, or even get through on the phone. Employee interaction can be decent, however, more often than not there is rudeness, unwillingness, and incompetence. I’m sure they all dislike working there as much as the many people dislike going there. I truely wish there was another option for a pharmacy.

The people in the pharmacy really try, but service is poor. Takes over a week to refill a prescription many times and then when you call to check if its ready they say yes. But when you get there it isn't and you have to wait 1-2 hours. And don't believe yhe web site when it says the pharmacy is open on Sunday, it's not!

Went to Mt Shasta Rite Aid to pick up meds to treat COVID-19 because my regular pharmacy didn't have the medicine yet. I called from the parking lot to check if they were ready and they were. I then asked if they could bring them out curbside and they said "no". I told them I didn't think it would be a very good idea for me to come in the store since I had tested positive for COVID-19. They said that I wouldn't allowed to come in and that I would have to get a family member to come in to pick them up. I ased them again to bring them out to me and they refused. I drove the 25 mile round trip to pick up my wife and came back to pick up the meds. Not sure why they could have done a contactless transfer in the parking lot. I quit using this pharnmacy 15 years ago because of their lack of compassion for customers. So glad there are still other options for getting medication that we need in this county.

I have tried to be patient with the ever-rotating cadre of workers running through this pharmacy location in Mt. Shasta. 50% of the time they do more than ok, but when they get it wrong, they REALLY get it wrong big time, and today is one of those days. I would give this location zero stars after two+ years of service if I could. There are absolutely no excuses for the repeated mistakes that are made by the staff at this location who consistently over-promise and just as consistently under-deliver. Rite Aid corporate should be embarrassed.

If I could give it 0 stars, I would. Nothing is EVER easy or quick with this pharmacy. The wait time is always way longer than it should be. Long waits at the drive thru just to get a person to talk to you. We had to go 4 different times to pick up a prescription...Unacceptable. We will never use it again.

this rite aid pharmacy is a joke among locals. even some of the doctors offices in town have an automated message when you call that says rite aid will NOT fill your prescriptions on time and doesn't pick up the phone or respond to faxes! when we drive down the street we make a game of guessing how many cars are going to be in line at the drive thru. when we go grocery shopping, we know we'll see the SAME cars in line when we pass by on the way home. mismanaged, understaffed, i don't know. the employees are nice and all but they can't do enough to fix this store. go to cvs instead.

I go to buy beer and get carded, which I could kind of understand, Although I'm 54 years old. As I get my wallet I give the six pack to my girlfriend to hold. Evidently at this store anyone who touches the beer will be carded, no common sense just policy. My girlfriend who is a little younger than me was then asked for her ID which again was nothing more than a hassle, to walk out to the car. The manager was there and not a single ounce of empathy from her for the complete hassle, instead just hid behind company policy. They really shouldn't sell beer if their policy is so ridiculously rigid, or really I just won't be going back to companies like rite aid who rather inconvenience their customers with policies than use common sense.

I needed to pick up a prescription. I was told at the counter that it would be between a 30min and 45min wait. I proceed to do some other shopping and returned around 1 and a half hours later only to be told it would be at least another 2 hours.I live an hour away. That is seriously poor service either on the part of the pharmacist in their use of time, the person at the counter the first time, or the person at the counter the second time.Note, the person at the counter the second time was not kind about it either. Had she been less obtuse I likely wouldn't even be writing this review despite the fact that this isn't the first time this place has done something similar.

UPDATE:MY SCRIP WAS FILLED4-24-2021THANK YOURITE AIDMy experience today with the pharmacywas disappointing. The pharmacist refused to fill a perscription my dermatologist perscribed me because the pharmacist felt he knew better than my dr. I've been waiting for this scrip since April 14th. My husband has been back n forth with different answer's each time. My drs office said he was rude as well. I love my pharmacy and everyone usually makes sure things are taken care of but there has been several incidents lately. And let me say that Tommy is the best.Thank you

This Pharmacy is overloaded, not enough help. They need help bad. It takes soooooo long to get your meds, even if you call it in two days in advance. This makes people angry on top of the stress they already feel abt having to wait for hours for an important medication they need. The workers are trying as hard as they can but it’s not enough, they need workers ASAPDon’t loose your cool with them, their trying as best as they can.Ken

The one star is for the pharmacy. I will be trying tomorrow for the third time to pick up a refill that I ordered by phone 4 days ago. I feel sorry for the techs and clerks. They repeatedly have to tell customers over and over again their prescriptions are not ready. This is after waiting in line for several minutes each time. The company’s system they have for dispensing meds is not working. It has been going downhill for several months.

I really like the staff at the pharmacy, they are very friendly and involved more than just passing out pills sent over from a text from Mercy Medical Center, these people care if you treat them kindly. I thought they were fun and had some good tips for me that turned out to be true. A smile goes a long way in this town, the only thing they were missing was an on site masseuse, with a chair massage that you pay $10 for 10 minutes while you wait for your prescriptions, you take the pressure off the staff while they fill and you add employment to Mt Shasta, a true win/win. Just a thought, I saw the staff rolling their shoulders, give them 10 minutes per day, it will increase moral, also add music, times have changed.Great team, you should be proud. Jack Trout

I have been using this pharmacy for the last three years. They are often out of my prescription and I have to wait a number of days for it to come in, even though it is a common prescription. They are slow and not very accommodating. My husband quit them after the first three months and moved over to Owens pharmacy. After this last experience of being asked to wait an additional half hour, though my prescription was ready, before they would run a new discount card, I am definitely pulling all of my prescriptions and moving over to Owens. Owens is friendly, fast, and very accommodating.

Stopped by to pick up some milk at 8:15pm. Checked on the store hours prior to going over. Said they were open until 10pm. Showed up and the door was locked with the guy vacuuming. He said they were closed, and the sign on the door said it was open until 10pm. Not sure what is going on with this place?
