He is the worst vet ever!! I had a disappointing experience at this vet in Santa Paula. Despite positive reviews from five years ago, my recent visit was the worst. I took my dog in for a cherry eye, and the this men “vet” was rude, making the situation worse by causing my dog's eye to bleed. He refused to offer advice or a quote after the incident. I cannot recommend this vet, and he doesn't deserve even one star. Avoid this unprofessional and disrespectful service.

First time I had to step in here as an emergency and the staff were so amazing. Cared for my concerns for my furbaby kitten. Thank you so much!! She has just started to eat on her own. A little bit but can do it on her own. Her wounds are healing and pain is under control. So thankful

I have been to all the Veterinary facilities in Santa Paula and Fillmore and this place is hands down the best. The doctor is very knowledgeable and he gets right to the point and really just cares about the pet. The staff at Four Paws is friendly and their online system makes it easy to set appointments and find out which vaccines are due for your pet or you can view the health history of your pet.I had a bad experience at the Fillmore Vet when I needed to take care of my dogs infected tooth where I had to wait almost 3 full weeks to get her treated so I came here and not only was the service far superior but the cost was literally half of what Fillmore wanted to charge me!This facility has its own lab to test the blood work of your pet so there is no delay that you would experience at other vets because they have to send out the blood work to external labs and wait for the results.I highly recommend this place, once you go you will see what I mean.UPDATE: I have 5 dogs and all of them are treated here. The service is still my favorite and these pieces are very reasonable. I've been coming here at least 5 years.

My absolute favorite veterinarian to trust my animals with! Dr. Rivera is amazing, and so is his wonderful staff. Super accommodating and he and his team genuinely care for your animals. Do not mistake Dr. Rivera's quiet nature, he is incredibly friendly and will take the time to inform and educate you on your animals conditions and treatment. He truly loves helping animals and helping pet owners be better and caring for their animals. To top it off, very fair price rates and absolutely no price gouging. Everything you can ask for from a friendly local veterinarian.

Took my 3 elderly dogs for checkups recently. The girls at the front desk are very pleasant and helpful. Dr. Rivera is great at explaining everything in detail. They do their own in house blood work and give results within 1-2 days. I would recommend to friends and family!

The personnel at four paws veterinary were professional knowledgeable. I had to take my dobby in and they gave me an appointment next day early morning. Dr took his time to explain what needed to be done. straight to the point. I have had experience were they try to sell you more than what you were in for. Not here.. The only reason I am giving this poor excuse for a doctor ANY stars is because it won't allow my post without one. Long story as short as possible: I WAS a long time customer of Mr Rivera (can't call him a doctor from what I've witnessed) HE prescribed chemotherapy for my nearly 18 year old cat. Supposedly the manufacturer of said meds quit producing the meds in the strength I needed, but Mr Rivera said he had the meds in double the strength I needed. No problem, I will split them bcus I have a splitter and have been doing that for alot of things all my life. NO he said. He will NOT give me the life saving meds I need for my nearly 18 year old cat. I asked if he could point me to another pharmacy or anywhere I could get the meds I need to split. He said he didn't like the way I was talking to him so he wasn't going to help me at all. He ended up selling me the double strength and I will NEVER return. One week later, new vet, also in SP found a heart murmer that Mr Rivera missed. Something also wrong with stethoscope???

I cannot say enough good things about this Dr. Rivera and his staff.They have continuously taken care of my pets and have always helped me when I needed them. I was particularly needy with an emergency and they welcomed me in quick and took care of all my worries. I highly recommend this office.

I'm absolutely shocked by all of the positive reviews here.Short Story:My experience with Dr. Rivera left the impression that he is very unprofessional, unprepared and has a horrible bedside manner.Long Story:I'm between vets right now as my dog's usual vet left the clinic he was working at, so I turned to Four Paws to handle a dental cleaning for my dog Rupert.Rupert has a health condition so it's extra important he gets attentive vets. I sent all of Rupert's records in to Four Paws weeks in advance to make sure everything was good.The day of the cleaning I'm meeting Dr. Rivera for the first time. Dr. Rivera comes in the vet office and asks *me* what the issue is with my dog. He didn't know Rupert's name and was not even aware he was there for a dental.Knowing Dr. Rivera hasn't read any of Rupert's backstory or notes, I told him about a white phlegm substance that's been in the back of Rupert's throat for a month. Rupert saw a specialist about this who said when he has the dental they should take a sample of the substance in his throat to diagnose it. I forwarded this email to Four Paws weeks prior to Rupert's dental.Dr. Rivera starts forcing his finger down Rupert's mouth without asking me, trying to look at the back of his throat. I'm confused because if he needs to look down Rupert's throat he could have just done that while he was under during the cleaning to make him more comfortable.Then Dr. Rivera starts talking about how "difficult" this cleaning will be, and how there could potentially be a lot of blood when they try to diagnose the white phlegm in his throat.At this point Dr. Rivera is noticing my reluctancy and says "you don't seem to be too comfortable with me" or something to that effect. My head is absolutely spinning at this point. He's not offering any reassurance, he's just putting blame on me for not feeling comfortable with him after he's telling me how difficult and bloody this dental is going to be. He then says if I don't feel comfortable with him than to go elsewhere. I immediately left the office at that point and drove home with my dog.How would anyone possibly feel comfortable leaving their pet with this person after all of that? I couldn't even imagine a worse way for Dr. Rivera to have conducted himself that morning. He literally said and did all of the wrong things.It's extremely disappointing because I've had to cancel 4 other dental appointments for Rupert in the past because he wasn't healthy enough to be put under due to his health condition. On the day of his dental appointment at Four Paws he was finally healthy enough to have this done and now he will have to wait even longer thanks to the carelessness of Four Paws.

Today I had to have my cat of almost 14 years put down. Dr. Rivera and his staff are kind, compassionate, thoughtful and made a hard task a lot less stressful. Thanks to all of you for helping me to know I did the right thing by ending my friend's pain and suffering. It's a hard job and you were very kind. I appreciate your concern and assistance. They did the same thing two years ago when my 16 year old Siamese, Ozzy, had to go. I am thankful that the quality of the care has increased, if anything. I cannot recommend this clinic highly enough.

Dr Rivera and his staff are wonderful to us and to our kids. We take our two dogs and cats for annual checkups and if they're ill. Our older Kai Ken dog felt very strongly about NOT having a necessary blood lab drawn. Dr Rivera came into the waiting room where we were and was non-plussed about her scratching him and trying to bite him. He treats them all most professionally and explains any findings to us so we understand, instead of taking down to us in "Doctor-ese". My kitty momma has a new veterinarian! For as log as I have my pets, I will bring them to 4 Paws. The ladies at the front desk are professional, they get right to business. The vet is professional and gets to the bottom of the problem in an efficient manner. I brought my 2 year old cat to be checked for a infected ear flap due to a bite from another cat - perhaps- my cat is both indor outdoor so is susceptible for accidents and fights. I am pleased with the service provided from the staff and vet. The vet technician was courteous and fun.Thank you!

We were in town on vacation when we noticed our dog having problems. I called at 1:10 on a Saturday, and even though they closed at 2, they gave us an appointment and took wonderful care of our dog. I highly recommend this vet. He was knowledgeable and very helpful. Really nice guy, too!

Best prices and they have an in-house lab. Results are fast and services are cheaper than fillmore vet or ohana vet on Faulkner rd. You won't be sorry with Dr. Hector Rivera. The staff is great and waits are not too long!

I took my pitbull there very clean places. Told me exactly what was wrong with my pet needed surgery. Took her in right away took real good care of her. When she came home didn't even see the cut they did on her belly. That's how good he stitched her up. Now she's healthy and enjoying life.
