Although it’s a 20 minute drive, Howie’s is worth the drive. We’ve found a bunch of food items not carried in the larger markets. The meat department is top notch in terms of quality and service.It’s a pleasure to shop at Howies

First time here and BOOM hit exactly what I needed. I was looking to pickup some lunch on way to a local brewery that doesn’t have food and their deli was perfect. One of the guys recommended the Chili Verde Pot Pie as 🔥 and yes sir it was. I will definitely be back as everything in the deli looked great. Even took two sandwiches to go.

My favorite market in the area. Helpful and friendly staff always there to answer any questions I have and help me find what I need. Meat and seafood are great quality. Been coming here for over 10yrs and still love it.

This market is a neighborhood gem for fresh produces and meats. This is on the corner of Duarte and San Gabriel Blvd. I have passed this place so many times before and never went in to shop. My son can back from San Diego and wanted to shop for fresh steak meat. He suggested that we visit this place.I was surprised when I went in to find all these nice and fresh produces and the extensive custom cut meats. They even sell aging beef. They are more of a mini Trader Joe’s for the local neighborhood.Like Trader Joe’s, they also have unique selections of wines from all over the world. I saw a section of Italian wines from different regions. For the red wines, I saw a good number of sauvignon carbonated wines from France.I also noticed the fruits on the shelves were so fresh. They all looked like they were just came in from the farm.I haven’t explored the whole store yet. They seem to have good amount of cheese selections too. We will come back to look through their cheese and other meat selections next time.

Have bought very expensive meat at their butcher. Tri-tip was awesome. However twice now I felt very disappointed after spending more than in a regular market and getting a super fatty gelatinous hunk of meat . Once with a brisket and another time I paid $15/lb for beef short ribs that were so fatty with huge bones and very little meat.

Excellent fresh food, but pricy. You pay for what you get. They have bakery in the front and the side prepared food to serve those who do not want to cook. Excellent fresh streak, they carry Japanese Kobe (Wagyu) and dry aging streak. They also provide private catering service. On the weekend they have tri-tip BBQ by the front store. The store features in many filming commercial advertising. Pls place to pickup ham for the holiday!

I was buying their cut-up fruit (watermelon, cantaloupe, honeydew) until they changed the container, giving the loyal customer less, at the same high price. No more.

Great place to buy groceries. Small, but you save so much time its worth paying a bit more. Good to great produce. The meat and fish is the best I've ever found in San Gabriel Valley. I can't buy meat or fish from big box stores anymore. Quality is that much better at Howies. Great staff is always super friendly and helpful. I'm never left waiting. Plus its nice knowing that corporate America hasn't destroyed every small business. Support local quality!

All I can say is "Wow!" Fabulous selections of the highest quality groceries of all types. Surprisingly affordable; the fruits and vegetables are excellent and the prices are not much different than a "run of the mill" grocery. Just a superb shop with warm and welcoming staff. I'm hooked.

Great place for a little bit of everything. Hard to find items, specialty foods, e.t.c. Fantastic meats; they age their own and only sell prime meats. Bbq every weekend!!! Terrific tri tip sandwiches.

Came here to buy steak but ended up not buying it because they didn’t look so fresh as some of the meat was browning. They were thick cuts at close to $30/lb. approx., but I wouldn’t spend that for something that looked like it should have been sold last week. Small quaint store, not much staff to attend to a customer and make them feel welcome or to see if we needed help with anything. For a smaller store, it’s missing that charm as stores this size needs human interaction to keep new customers from wanting to keep coming. Parking is decent. Exterior of the store looks very appealing. Interior of store is decent.

Great Deli they make home made foods , salads & deserts. The market is good size, I go there to get my lunch a couple times a week they have weekly daily specials. I recommend you try this place if your in the neighborhood.One more thing it can be a little pricey because everything you as for is weighed but! well worth it. Enjoy!!

Its amazing what they pack into this little store. Reasonable produce selection and a good wine/spirit shop. Alexander's meats are great as well. Its pricey but when quality is the most important, I go here

So refreshing to come to a market that is small enough to get friendly, fast and attentive service, yet large enough for all your shopping needs. They have a great wine selection, bakery, deli, produce and good old fashioned meat counter..the real thing! They also have a barbeque set up in the parking lot area during warmer months where you can grab a quick lunch.. I wish there were more small markets like this one. Howies obviously cares about quality, and maintaining a clean and attractive enviroment.

Simply just the best market in all of Cali! You’ll never be disappointed by the genuine quality service from people who actually care to serve you! The positive atmosphere of the this store, that is reinforced by the hard work of the staff, will make you leave feeling better than when you came in. If you have a chance to meet the owners I definitely recommend making the effort! The Nolan/Milazo family are just such great people with full hearts! One thing anybody can take away from this store is that there’s something for everybody, so I encourage you to find out what’s there waiting for you! I love you Howie's and the people who are making it what it’s becoming!

All the employees are helpful and very kind. Love that family feel.I've been going here for the last 41 years.They have a hugh amount of tea's to choose from , delicious barbecue on the weekends, fresh produce and wonderful selection of wine

Howie’s is the only private market in the Pasadena, Alhambra, South Pasadena, San Marino area that is without a doubt, the best market in the San Gabriel Valley.The staff is very friendly, honest and helpful.Their bakery is lovely, their wine selection is top notch, however, suffers from a paucity of knowledgeable help, which was probably my fault, as I couldn’t go until after 5, 2/2 my work schedule.As for their produce, it is the very best fresh produce I’ve seen in this area, bar none. Bristol Farms and Whole Foods pale in their shadow. I’m not sure what the “ high end” chains are doing, but Howie’s puts them to shame.Howies’s is a gem in and for the community, and should continue its strong support forever, as far as I’m concerned.

The friendliest, most polite staff of any market I've ever been to. Including the security guard out in front. Meat section has amazing cuts to choose from. They sell bbq on the weekends, and best believe it lives up to the Howie's market standard.

Best grocery in the SGV, dare I say L.A. county. This place is where I get all my produce. Alexander's prime meats and catering is also located here. They have the best A5 Wagyu.--You can't go wrong with any of their steaks, really. And their bacon is a hidden gem!

Looking for quality treats or excellent deli with hot or cold food ready to eat? Howie's has loads specialty items along with all the basics essential that we all need to keep our homes stalked. I've made those quick runs in and out as well as detailed shopping sprees, finding perfect products for breakfast, lunch and dinners. The employee's at this Market are helpful efficient and courteous. I've been going to Howie's for decades. I give it a 5 star if the prices were more competitive.

Great meat selection. Not the greatest produce selection but what they do have is good quality. They sell hot dogs on the weekends that are really good! Never tried the tri tip... But it looks great!

I have always loved Howies for their large selection of fresh vegetables, roots, and herbs. Where else around here can you find fresh horseradish?? Alexander's meats within the market is also a great addition. Everyone here is very friendly, helpful and know their product.

Outstanding tamales. Nice people. Very nice butcher. Nice bakery. Small and easy to maneuver. Good, easy parking. A small shop that packs a punch because they have really nice quality stuff.
