Prices are extremely high for dental cleaning. They wanted almost $1,500 for a dachshund's cleaning. Half of her teeth have already been removed. She's 12 years old. I wasn't told ahead of time. Only the morning I arrived. I had to cancel. I didn't have the money for it.The vet chewed me out, and told me that I was told 3 months prior, by the receptionist (how would she know what the receptionist said to me, that is here say), when I had taken mom's dog in for other issues. And told me that I should have cancelled, ahead, so they could have put another pet in my mom's dog's spot; instead of being left with nothing to do for that half hour procedure. I think they should have told me the cost before making the appointment. They lost my business.

Very kind and helpful. Reasonable rates too.Update Feb 13, 2023: our dog got injured over the weekend and they got us in on Monday. Excellent care and patience.2024: still fantastic staff and I like that they speak very straight forward and listen to the owners.

I recently moved here from another state, and I didn’t know what to expect. I really liked our vet back home and was skeptical of change. I chose Placerville Vet after many phone calls to multiple other options due to their accessibility, affordability, cordiality, as well as their communication. I was provided a cost breakdown of the appointment prior to attending. Staff were very informative and judgement free. Agnes and I thank you as her new providers <3

I love this veterinary Hospital and it’s staff members! But what’s more important, my dog loves this place. My pup was a COVID doggie and for the first 2 years of her life I had to wait in a car while she went in to be seen. The world finally opened up and I got to go in with my little Skye for the first time. She was EXCITED to be there! Had to great everyone and even put her paws on the counter to say hi! I just knew, she had been treated wonderfully the last 2 years and that made me happy. I HIGHLY recommend this vet clinic. 5 stars.

I do not recommend taking your pets here. I brought my dog here for the first time over a year ago because she had been acting sick. The vet took x-rays and determined there was a foreign object lodged in her stomach and intestines. It was described as “long, skinny and rope-like”. I was told that emergency surgery was required immediately or my dog could die. I was given NO other alternative options. (Although now I know there were many other things that could have been done). At such alarming news I took my dog in for surgery (she is a Great Dane and a surgery of this magnitude is certainly life threatening), and the surgeon found nothing inside her. The surgeon was shocked as was I, for obvious reasons. When I reached out to Placerville veterinary clinic the next morning, although her kind front desk staff agreed with me, Dr Carmody refused to take any responsibility for the error and told me that this happens quite often. I would be ashamed of my practice if this error was happening regularly under my care, but she didn’t seem to be. When I asked for her to help with the financial burden that I had incurred due to her error, she refused. And then when I advised her that I would continue to follow up on the matter, she sent a letter to my home firing me as a client stating that I was “threatening” her (as though I would EVER put an animal under her care again). She added insult to injury over and over in this matter and treated my thousands of dollars in fees as though they were chump change. She was condescending and rude throughout the entire ordeal and treated me as inferior. She used manipulation and fear tactics to try to intimidate me and I’ve never been treated so poorly by a business owner. I’ve never had a dispute like this before and I have to leave this review as a warning to potential customers. She will undoubtedly try to dispute this review as she won in a small claims court case against me. However, nothing that was decided in that case has anything to do with how she treated me as a human being and the scars left on my dogs body. If you’re looking for a vet with decency, morals and human kindness, look elsewhere.

The doctors and staff overall are fantastic. They always take great with our pets and go above and beyond. Dr. Heather and Dr. Lanae especially are very diligent and kind, but wonderful experiences with the whole staff from reception to the doctors themselves.

This is the Veterinary Clinic where they love your pets as much as you do. Every staff member I have encountered always greets us with kindness and understanding even under the most difficult of times. My dogs have never been better taken of than at Placerville Veterinary Clinic. The prices are reasonable, the staff is wonderful!

Our young, girl kitty had her first visit there recently and it was a positive experience for her. Dr. Barbara is very gentle and thorough. The staff was pleasant and welcoming.Thank you all!

Love the services provided here at Placerville Veterinary Clinic. My dog has historically really struggled at the vet, but since coming to this clinic has done extremely well! Everyone is so nice, explains everything, and does such a great job with my anxious pup. I always recommended this clinic for pet owners because of the great service.

The staff here is fabulous! Always professional, courteous, and friendly both to humans and pets. My little Gabby had her teeth cleaned today. A big thanks to all the staff for giving her so much love and attention. They even clipped her nails for free while she was out for the cleaning!

I would give 11 stars if I could. My senior doggie had been acting off for a few days and I called them to see if they were willing to do an exam. They squeezed him in in less than 2 hours and when I tell you the doctor and staff are THE MOST compassionate people ever…. The doctor explained everything in detail to make sure I knew exactly what options I had. If you are looking for a veterinary office that makes you feel like they actually listen to you, educates you as much as possible, and want the absolute best for your pet, please consider this office. They also were very transparent about the cost of everything and the cost are so great for the care that you receive. I could not say enough nice things about them. I will definitely be bringing the whole fur family over to them. They made my little senior guy feel so comfortable and loved, even in his last moments. Thank you so much Placerville Vet Clinic!!

First cat in photo recovering nicely, he had been bitten on back leg, wouldn't walk on it due to a nasty little infection. In the 5 years ive known him, almost all his life, he had never been in a pet carrier, never been to the vet, and always been an outside cat. Needless to say he was pretty bewildered. Their staff put him at ease, treated him well and fast. He almost immediately forgave me for making him go. Thanks one and all Scottyb for Geronimo!

This place and it's people are amazing. As is true for all animal lovers, our pets are our family and how my dog is treated is my biggest priority.After a horrible experience at a different vet where they actually hurt my dog and re-injured her leg being careless and caused a chunk of her skin to be taken out of her knee from what was clearly an attempt to pull her across a table, I realized I should've known the place was bad by how indifferent they were to every pet that came in. No loving on any of them, no referring to them by name etc.When I took my fur baby here I knew immediately this was an amazing place. I watched as everyone from the receptionist to the vet techs greeted every pet that came in the door with love and knew each of their names and clearly were people who loved every animal. There was none of the bias I've seen at other places towards certain breeds. The doctor came in and spent all the time we needed, ensuring we went over everything and she happily answered every question I had. There was also none of the tendency to try to push me towards spending more money than was absolutely necessary like I've seen at multiple other clinics, AND their prices are incredibly reasonable which is a huge relief as I'm on a tight budget. Just an overall amazing experience and such a huge relief to know my baby is in caring, loving hands. Highly recommend this place the loving care here is clear.

They are great veterianians and have taken wonderful care of all my animals. My animals are like my children. I only want the best for them and Placervile Veterinary Clinic delivers all that I could ask for.

The vet and staff were really nice and helpful. I wish I could of gone in with my dog but I'm hopeful curbside will be over by the next time we come for a visit.Edited: By some miracle, they were able to get us in the same day for our cat who was in the aftermath of a seizure. It turns out our senior kitty has a thyroid issue and needs meds for it. We are so thankful to them for getting us in quickly and being so kind to us.

Placerville Vet Clinic is THE best! I have been taking pets there since the 1970's. Currently my cats see Dr. Carmody. She is extremely professional and knowledgeable. keeping up on the latest research. She is kind and respectful to both the cats and to me! Her attitude is always positive. The facility is very clean. All staff members are positive, polite and helpful. If I email a question or concern, I receive a prompt response. I am very thankful to be a client of Placerville Vet Clinic!2022 Same comments. Skeeter our cat 22 years old nothing showed up, changed diet cause got sick a lot didn't help switched vets to Placerville veterinary clinic they found what was wrong massive tumor... we took him in when they broke the news to me they were very compationate and sincere told me best route let him go home... i did not handle it well but they let me know when he was asleep... without asking saved me a paw print as a memento. Never met a more compationate group of people. Thank u to staff.Also when our elder dog was having a heart attack they were on the phone entire time trying to fit us in... when he passed they cried through phone thank you for love a support

We are newer to the area and had never gone here before, but called them needing to put our 21 year old cat to rest. They took us in the same day we called for an appointment and I felt they handled the whole process with compassion and sympathy. We chose to cremate and were given a keepsake when we went to collect the ashes. It was a clay disc with our friend's name and paw prints on it. We will be coming back here when we get our next animal friends. Thanks for making the process as easy as you could.

Our first visit was a last minute intake appointment for an abscess on our new pup. I was impressed that they were able to fit us in last minute on a Saturday morning. The Dr and her staff were so accommodating and handled our issue with speed and skill. We will be returning clients!
