My wife and I booked a weekend there as kind of a lark. I would say overall that it wasn’t a bad experience…went there in spring expecting decent weather but encountered a driving rainstorm both nights. The host Jennifer was very friendly and helpful which is a bright spot…there are people living there fulltime in their own RV’s and I would say it is best to avoid them.Just as we were driving out we stopped to let our dogs out, one of the ‘locals’ walked past and started entertaining one of the local cats…I slowly started approaching them and this guy started threatening me, erupting into a foaming tirade of name-calling and “F” bombs with obviously not the slightest concern that we were guests there.I have no idea what got this dude so upset, it was the most vile confrontation I’ve had with another human being in many years and completely ruined what was otherwise a reasonably pleasant visit.This guy has obviously been living there for some time and seems dangerously unstable, which is why I emphasize “just avoid the locals”-like the local cats, they’re feral.(ADDENDUM): Jennifer is aware of what happened; she watched the guy blow up at the moment it happened. While I’m not the litigious type incidents like this definitely have a negative effect on your business and if this guy ever makes good on his violent threats the resulting lawsuits could easily bankrupt you. I did nothing to provoke this person-so if he’s done it to me and he’s been living there very long I’m pretty sure he has threatened and harassed others similarly.I would advise you to deal with the situation before somebody gets hurt or worse…

A slice of Heaven! A real gem...peaceful and serene. Very relaxing and inviting. Friendly and professional staff and management.Grounds are much improved since my first visit 5 years ago. Plan to explore the area or do nothing at all.

This was a nice little spot we stayed at this weekend. The took us last minute which was nice. We were looking for a dog friendly spot last second for a quick get away and we found it. Staff was really friendly and helpful, they even upgraded us for free since they had many opening.The downside to this campground is there really isn’t much besides the pool. I was looking forward to going on some hikes with my dog but their nearest hike was 3 miles down the road. The roosters were a nice touch but sucked as they crowed at 4am. Just hit the snooze in my head and fell back asleep.Other than that it’s a beautiful little camp site with clean bathrooms. I would highly recommend this spot for a last second spot.

The site we got was small, and lacked the camping atmosphere. We where surrounded by 3 walls and didn't even have a fire pit. For 60$ I was expecting a bit more.Just a note in response to the owner. The wind was not over 10mph. And yes this was the correct place.

We had went and reserved a spot. Let me tell you pictures do no justice. There was no one to greet. I called the number numerous times. I had no idea what camp spot I reserved because when you reserve it implies they will tell you the day of. It was a creep scary vibe. Have chickens and cars looked abandoned there. Like hills have eyes vibe. Long story short I called and didn’t receive a call till hours later. She text me saying what my eta was and she will be leaving soon. I implied I would not be staying there due to the customer service and communication. My kids were hot and aggravated. She said she would refund me but I still yet to revive it. I wonder if it was a scam. This place is not what it seems. Please go to the reservations or anywhere but here.

*This review is referring to the campground. BEWARE!!! This place is HORRIBLE, unsafe for children and probably dangerous. My family and I reserved online (my mistake for not researching appropriately). Drove all of the way out there - within five minutes witnessed drug activity in the bathroom. I was so shaken up we are not even asking for a refund. Just want to make sure this doesn't happen to anyone else.FYI nobody asked us to leave. We couldn't get out of that place fast enough.

Beautifully rustic and Nice Camp ManagerThe campground is beautiful with trees and well spaced locations. While the overall camp is on a hill, the sites seem fairly level. I have a class C and could get to my spot just fine.It is quiet and peaceful. I prefer rustic to cement. So I like Oak Knoll.The stars are visible at night. The sunsets are fantastic. I could see through the trees.The camp manager/hostess was very nice and helpful. 5+ stars for her.

We stayed for Labor Day weekend, and couldn't have had a better time! All park employees were super friendly and helpful and the bathrooms were clean and nice looking, and priced extremely fair! The other guests were all very friendly too, and the entire campground is pet friendly, which is awesome because my girlfriend has 2 poodles (who loved every minute of our little vacation). Feels like you're way out in the country without being TOO far from civilization. We will defnintely return with more paying customers!

Terrible let us drive all the way out there in 106 heat only to be told cuz by chance I called that cabin they offered me was over booked , she let them book an extra day who was in cabin, and we did not have a cabin wth air and said she sent email but got no email and no call from her only told me when I called 3 hrs before to check ! Glam ping tents not what they look like in the photos oh no!! Very unprofessionally runner all the way around! Terrible experience to say the least won’t ever go back! Very very over crowded as well ! And not very nice what we saw ! Save your money don’t go here! Lilac campground better!

I really like this campground. Plenty of shade, everyone is nice, bathrooms are clean, water access is very convenient. The roosters next door will wake you up if you are a light sleeper. The front desk was a little disorganized, but responsible.

Small, pool was not working and most camp sites were uneven but has showers bathroom and a run down game room but you can definitely make thw best of it and have fun. We did.

If you want a relaxing and quiet weekend, Oak Knoll Campground is the place to be! This is my 3rd year coming back here and honestly I don't think I see myself ever going anywhere else. Everyone here is quiet and respectful of everyone's space. You barely hear anything throughout the day and after 7-8pm it's almost a dead silence throughout the campsite. The grounds are well kept as is the bathrooms. Speaking of which, Oak Knoll has probably some of the best looking and cleanest bathrooms I have ever seen at a campsite. Anyone who has ever gone camping knows that the communal bathrooms always tend to be a drag. Aside from the clean grounds, this campground also has full hookups, a pool, cabins you can rent, a dog park, baseball field, a games room and mini store (honestly they just carry the basic emergency essentials like ice, firewood, non-alcoholic beverages and a small quantity of ready to eat foods like cup of noodles). The campsite also has 4 Indian casinos within a 3 mile radius, as well as a bigger mini market, gas station and the Palamar Observatory (free - open to the public) a few more miles away. All-in-all Oak Knoll I think is one of the best well kept secrets when it comes to campgrounds in So Cal.

What a wonderful place to escape the busy hustle and bustle of everyday life! Sparkling clean pool and restrooms. If you enjoy bird watching and enjoy nature this is your go to place. They even have a laundry facility. I am very impressed and will go again.

Friendly helpful staff, spacious campground sites, with beautiful mountain views. Oak trees with plenty shade, well kept grounds and pool. Nice showers and clean restrooms. Fun for families. Highly recommended.

Awesome place to gang out with the family! Bathrooms are clean and has a nice pool too. Some spots have electricity to connect night lights. Will definitely be back again!! #😀

Small campground at the base of Palomar mountain. Camping in the oak trees with cool crisp nights, and so quiet you could hear a pin drop. Small spaces and many full time residents.

We were staying there but we got kicked out because our children were "running around" but they were right infront of our motorhome. The camp host is not the nicest and the people there are old and mean. Not family friendly, if you have a family I suggest going to a different campground.

Very old and ran down. Had to wait 10 minutes for someone to open the store. Store items were way over priced. It's worth driving 5 minutes down the road to La Jolla trading Post. At least you can get gas there.

I spent the night in the back of my pick up with a camper shell, nice campground, cool trees, little store with WiFi, and lots of stuff, at the base of the road that goes up to the top of Palomar Mt, (5min drive to snow) paths all over for hiking, Rincon Down the street, Nice Couple run the place. Cabins and Sites, I think Ill get a cabin next time they look really nice.

Reserved our space and arrived at 8:30pm to find the gates locked no way to enter and no one to contact. Ended up I'm the middle of nowhere having to rent a hotel room. There is nothing in the website that's states that they close and lock thier gates. Total scam
