The woman clerk seemed interested in two of my grandson's old silver dollars. She took them over to another male clerk (maybe owner), he was busy with another customer. He took a quick look, not much concerned, quoted a low amount for an 1880 and a 1900 silver dollars we had. We will get other quotes elsewhere.

I called the shop to order 5- 1oz gold coins, the lady I talked to gave me the price and we agreed, she called me a couple of days later to pick them up, I went to the shop, two guys were working there, I guess they knew I was coming, they wanted to charge me $125 more for each coin, and the gold prices haven't changed since I ordered them, these people are very shady, I just walked away without a purchase???

Stopped by yesterday and purchased a couple silver coins and one small gold coin. Just like I remember the last time I visited, the staff here at Bob's are very helpful and friendly. Prices are great and always a wonderful shopping experience. Nice selection of coins and currency too!

Always the best prices selling and buying in Orange County and beyond. They really know everything about coins so you can pick their brains if you are interested in coins. Plus, the Mexican restaurant across the way is worth the travel and they have a cool dog.

I've never really had a favorite coin shop until Bob Patchins, I'm serious.All the ones before were missing something and that's called honesty!I mean that, I understand making a profit it's business but from my experience this store is fair and they don't make you feel inferior when you ask questions etc. They make the hobby fun.

This coin store has a great variety of U.S. Coins and bullion. Coin books, albums and other supplies all at reasonable and competitive prices. Tony is very knowledgeable about U.S.Coins and the bullion market. Nancy and Jay are happy to help you find what you need for your collection or a gift. The Coin Gallery is clean, friendly and organized. For 40+ years this has been my favorite coin store in Orange County.

I've been buying silver from here for years, but 3 out of the last 4 times I've gone out there they've been closed. The only day I have time to go there is on Saturday and lately they haven't been there.

Well what else can i say. I was just offered 140 dollars for a coin that was valued at 1275 online. And valued at 1000 by another dealer. This coin is graded and slabed. No gimmicks. So why cheat a potential customer? I wont be bringing my things here. Im glad i learned how shady they are early on. Glad i havent bought anything here cause i never will

The owner is informative to his idea of handing out information which benefits one side. I had a coin he was interested in but he wanted it regarded before he made an offer. Of course, he downgraded the coin when critiquing it himself. It was sent to his grader and came back as he suspected, a lesser proof grade. My coin was purchased by Swiss America. When I questioned them on the difference they responded that their grader graded the coin as they saw fit at a 65 proof. As I understand, grading varies upon who is doing the grading. It is like asking someone , what color red is this? You will get various answers. In this case, the difference between the two gratings , selling wise, was 64 proof $800 , 65 proof $1800. Now unless I wish to get the coin regarded again, I am down $1000. This may not be a big deal to Mr. Patachins, but it is a huge blow to myself and family. The funds were desperately needed for groceries and to pay the IRS of which I owe dearly. $1000 is $1000, and now I am in a state of despair. Never again will I return to this place. I also sold him my $20 gold piece. When I got home and figured out the gold value, I was shorted $198.00. So goes life, we learn by our mistakes.

Nice display. Good service. I got a silver maple for $4.50 over spot which is reasonable. Better than many other places that I have looked at for the same coin.

All smiles when you are buying but a whole different story when you are selling, especially when you are trying to sell back their own Morgan Silver dollar coins in their own 'bob Patchin' initialed blue sleeve clear plastic protective covers! 3 of their own coins were identified as " cleaned and polished, my only 1883CC Morgan was graded a VF when their own sleeve was typed "CH BU MS 63", and a third Morgan was graded 3 bid grades lower based on the 2013 bid/ask grey sheet. These coins were purchased and placed unaltered in a protected Dansco Album from 1963 and stored in a fireproof safe. I have been a purchaser at Patchins since at least 1986 when I began to assemble the American Eagle silver dollars and some years prior to that. I am very disappointed in this development.I am certain that Mr. Bob Patchin will not be pleased to hear of this account between myself and his son who was in the process of evaluating the 68 Morgans for potential sale. The evaluation came to an abrupt halt midway through when I asked for a grading clarification on the 3 coins. I can only assume that Tony was somewhat embarrassed an made accusations that those were not his coins and that I had altered the coins or replaced them with others. Those were my ONLY coins in those years purchased to complete a Dansco set started by my father prior to 1963.I have been collecting coins since I was 12 and have complete sets of denominations with no missing holes of IndianHeads through Morgan Dollars including a complete Dansco Type set album.Shame on you for being less than honest and truthful in your dealings with your former customers and unwilling to take the opportunity to make the matter 'right'. This will likely not set well in the Numismatic community or your public.
