Had a late lunch here with our family of four. We got there after 2pm. Brunch ends at 3pm then they serve dinner at the bar and dining area. Friendly staff. Nice place in the middle of nowhere. We didn't know it was also a hotel with a pool.We asked to have them clean the booth at the end since I didn't want to bother anyone else with my coughing. My husband and I ordered the pulled pork with slaw, brioche buns, and choice of Memphis or Carolina BBQ sauce. We chose Memphis and it was good! We ordered the side salad with vinaigrette which was refreshing. The boys had chicken tenders and fries and pancakes. They both gave two thumbs up. A little pricey for two pancakes at $15.This is a great place to stop for good eats (farm to table) if you're passing through.

We only ate at the restaurant as a stop while we were on a 200 mile round trip. Motorcycle bike ride. Great. Easy place to stop refill with some food and a wide selection of beers. People were awesome. Place was very clean. Definitely look like you could host a wedding here as a venue. Cute outdoors. Fun activities in their courtyard. Just wish we had showed up later when the bar was open..

We popped in for lunch and the restroom. Lunch was very tasty and the restroom was very nice but it took us a long time to pay our bill when the place wasn't even busy. Saying that there was only one friendly woman waiting tables during lunch hours that day so I do have sympathy. Beware the gift shop area unless you are rich- many items don't have prices which of course means $$$

It's a nice place. A group of friends and I travel over to the coast every year the first weekend in May to work. It's been three years since we last stopped at The Buckhorn. It's located right next to the 166 so you can't miss it. It was clean and the food was good. On this visit I noticed there is an actual hotel here. From what I saw it looked pretty cool. I think it would be a great place to stop in for the night if you needed a place to lay your head. But other than being willing to stop at a place I've never been, I don't really know anything about the hotel. But it looks like it has a nice outdoor pool area. There was also an outdoor bar pool table. Not a rules table but in nice condition. There is a cool and rustic Southwestern bar adjacent to the Buckhorn that looks very interesting and inviting. It's just across the hall so you can't miss it.I would recommend at least stopping and checking the place out. The only thing I had any reservations about were the prices of the food. I had a patty melt with fries and a Modelo. The check came to $25 and some change. I just left $30 for our server Igel. Quiet but laughed at my jokes.

The Buckhorn is a true respite for the weary plains traveler. We experienced a kind of pure hospitality throughout our stay that is rare to find. Vanessa, Carissa, Melissa, and of course the inimitable Sam made us feel welcome, at ease, and offered insightful recommendations to fully enjoy Cuyama. It is clear that the owners of this establishment have deep roots in the surrounding community and are dedicated to uplifting artisans, farmers, and local institutions through their business. I would recommend the Buckhorn to anyone traveling up the 33 or in search of true western hospitality.

Worst, toughest tri tip we have ever had. Had to pull the meat apart! Service ok. Ate in the bar. Very, very nice bartender. Knowledgeable about the area. Helpful. Probably could make any kind of drink asked for. Made our visit enjoyable.

We had the most magical stay at Cuyama Buckhorn—so glad we went out of our way to check it out! We ate dinner and breakfast at the restaurant and could not say enough good things. Would absolutely double back for the tri-tip and XXL salad. The staff was amazingly accommodating for our kids, who enjoyed the gorgeous grounds as much as we did. Will definitely be back!!

Restaurant review: charming, thoughtful, and full of character, but the food labeling is pretentious and often incorrect. The mahi tacos weren’t mahi (but they were a perfectly tasty if somewhat tough white fish). The veggie tacos, which the waitress said had “whatever was at the farmers market this week” (which is a red flag… this is hard for any restaurant to do!) had pre-cut carrots, brocc, and cauli, which isn’t a trio you’d see picked together in California in the spring. The “techapi rye” biscuit was tasty it very salty, but I couldn’t tell that there was rye (or any unrefined) flour in there at all. The salad was great! The servers couldn’t be kinder and were very accommodating.

GREAT get away “me/we time” location. The f food is so f good, I’m in love. The patty melt on marbled rye was so intensely good that I ended ordering it for dinner and then also lunch ! The fries with blue cheese dressing and some fruit salad were are faves. The mahi tacos were incredibly fresh but the TORTILLAS are what TRULY blew my skirt UP ! The bartender was so sweet and she made us bomb cocktails, thank you!’ The apple pie and blueberry were pretty good as well:))Rooms: They are cute little bungalows, feeling like your own house and balcony. Lots of fun games to play and the staff are always helpful when you need them the waitresses are super. We got to meet one of the owners once, what a fantasy mirage come true! It’s hip af here.Food & drinks: I cannot because it will make me crave it more than I already do , sorry!!!

Outlandishly priced menus. Wines that retail for $25 are priced for over a hundred. How come this hotel makes off with a 500% profit while the actual winemakers are lucky to get a fraction of that. Shameful and greedy.

I loved my stay here!! I came for the super bloom (to visit Carrizo Plains) at the end of April 2023 and it was simply wonderful!! First off, they had a s’mores kit waiting for you on the bed (there are fire pits everywhere!). I have every intention of returning on a new moon night (hopefully, after the rains) in hopes of viewing the Milky Way 😍

I had to give this place an instant 5 stars. Though I didn't eat here or get a drink. On my way back to the Antelope Valley, this ended up being the only place insight with a bathroom from Santa Maria to Lancaster. I am so greatful to the owner/manager for allowing to utilize the restroom. Upon enter the facility though I just want everyone to know it looks like a wonderful place to grab a drink, get some r & r, and enjoy the scenery. I highly encourage other to make this a destination location on their travels.

5 stars. I wasn't expecting much but the ranch/country themed restaurant turned out to be pretty nice, upscale. I would come again.

One of the best out of the way places I've been to in my life. You have to try this if you like Western Americana. Everything is locally sourced. Cooked by the Iceland chef. Definitely recommend their coffees pies and the avocado toast is actually not a rip-off .. Really good

This is a gem. Located just outside Carrizo Plain National Monument, it makes for a fabulous jumping off spot for adventuring. It is upscale cowboy done really well. The rooms are quiet and private, nicely appointed, and dog friendly. The bar is an adventure all its own -- really delicious and unique bar menu, curated by Sam, mixologist extraordinaire. The food is quite good, with some house smoked specialties that are not to be missed. Everything is pretty spendy, so be prepared to drop some significant cash. But so worth it! Highly recommended.

Employees are super nice!Food is good. Prices are high and serving size is not super generous, making for lower value. Fun place though. We frequent the Buckhorn on our drive from the coast to Bakersfield. Love that its there!!We haven't stayed over yet, hope to one day!

Service was good as was the food. The place was clean. We stopped for lunch. I had a turkey wrap, our friend had an egg salad sandwich and my husband had a pulled pork sandwich. I loved my wrap and my friend said her egg salad was wonderful. My husband wasn't as pleased with the pulled pork because it wasn't just pork and sauce but had other additions in it. He liked it well enough to not complain. The fried potatoes are homemade and great tasting. Only complaint I had was a pesky fly.

Excellent food! If you are driving 166 or looking for a place to fly-in for the ‘$100 burger’ ($200?), this is it. The burger and beef are excellent quality. Well worth the trip to try this menu. It’s one of those places that is casual, but the food experience exceeds the easy going nature of the premises. Outdoor seating, indoor dining and bar. Friendly staff. All of it creates a great place to stop and eat.
