I recently visited Pioneer Market, and overall, it provided a decent shopping experience. One standout feature was their offering of Girl Scout yogurt, which added a unique and enjoyable touch to the dairy section. However, there were some aspects of the market that could be improved. The layout of the store felt a bit cluttered and disorganized, making it challenging to navigate through the aisles efficiently. Additionally, some areas seemed to lack variety in product selection, which may disappoint customers looking for a broader range of options. On the positive side, the staff at Pioneer Market were friendly and helpful, which contributed to a pleasant shopping atmosphere. The prices were also reasonable, making it a convenient option for everyday grocery needs. In conclusion, while Pioneer Market has its strengths, such as offering Girl Scout yogurt and providing friendly service, there are areas where it could enhance the overall shopping experience, particularly in terms of organization and product variety. Nonetheless, it remains a viable option for local grocery needs.

They have thieves working for them and the manager backs it up. I had $90 worth of food stolen from me there. Be careful shopping there. The $90 of food was for a disabled senior citizen.

Love the checkers but hate the store! Very, very unfortunate it is the ONLY grocery store so it has a monopoly. I own a home here and I strongly feel the people that live here, pay taxes here, deserve a modern, clean grocery store. The vents in at the yogurt section are caked with dust! I'm sick of people saying we don't have enough people? Enough people to remodel the local store? We deserve better! Half the time the bakery is closed! The Deli closes early too! We have over 1,000 airbnb houses alone who all pay property taxes. Why let one person monopolize a grocery store! Clean it up, remodel it! Ot sure was remodeled outside to put in Tesla charging stations! Work on the inside! I shoukd not have to drive to Oakhurst! I don't want to drive to Oakhurst to shop! I'm sick of people having so low standards for themselves in BASIC amentities of groceries! Again, the workers are very friendly, because mountain people are down to earth! We have a little health food store that is modern! It's too small, and very expensive! I've gotten food poison likely due to low refrigeration of food. Forget about organic or grass fed meats, they are almost never available. If another store was put in, people would instantly flock to it! Mariposa is different now. The new owners have relocated from the Bay Area and we know what it's like to have a clean and updated grocery store! Mariposa can do better! The stars are for the staff! Not the store!

My wife and I went into the store and we thought it would be nice to get a deli sandwich. When my wife inquired if they had any gluten-free bread, the person behind the counter laughed and said, gluten-free bread.??? I don’t know nothing about that we ain’t got nothing like that back here She shook her head at us and acted like we were idiots for asking I asked her if we could purchase a loaf from the store and bring it to her and she could make a sandwich. She made another funny noise and said I guess so. So that’s what we did. We then proceeded to wait almost 30 minutes for our two sandwiches to be made. And we had to ask for the rest of our loaf back. I’ve never been made to feel more unwelcome at a delicatessen before. Would it kill the store to have one freaking loaf of gluten-free bread behind the counter?

It was very well stocked. Best one around the area. Good spot to hit before Yosemite!

Great local market! They've got all the basics: good produce section, deli, wine and liquor, touristy gifts, cards, some basic pet supplies & food, pharmacy, coffee, bakery, restrooms, frozen goods, decent parking & accessibility, Tesla charging, multiple lines open at one time which is always nice when you're in a hurry... overall a really great local market and I would only change one thing if I could which would be prices . . .Of course I understand supply and demand and that in small towns on the way to National Parks you have to keep the prices high for tourists and to support the local economy, BUT it would be really nice if the locals could get at least a 20% discount on food items, because it does get pricey for the folks that can't make it out of town often to do their big grocery shopping. With that one change, I would give Pioneer a definite five star rating!

Can you guys teach your sandwich people how to heat a sandwich? I circle “yes” on the HOT section of the form. Put arrows pointing to it. And somehow, every time without fail, your apparently illiterate sandwich makers behind the counter give me an ice cold sandwich. What exactly is the deal? Please retrain them on how to read a form. It’s not that difficult to look at the form, see “Yes” circled under HOT, and heat the sandwich.

Home town feel. Service from friendly people you see everyday and or have known your whole life. Good prices on food even compared to the big city stores. Always clean, always smells good. Always more cashiers working than any other store.

This grocery store was honestly really good. I wasn't sure what to expect with a store called Pioneer Market, but they had all the essentials and more. We got everything we needed, no problem. Reasonably priced too.

Good sized store. Not too busy. Plenty of tills open so not long to wait. Staff nice & chatty. Plenty of car parking. No shortages of tomatoes and fruit & veg like there is back home in England (thanks to Brexit & Boris and his cronies 🤨). Good range of products, including bread.

They don't put everything in your grocery bag at the check out stand. Things can and could get left get left behind. You put your trust in them to put everything in your bag and when they don't you leave the store without all of your things. My guess is they put it back on the shelf and sell it again.

It would be easy for a grocery store to only have the necessities for a small community like Mariposa, so you'll be happy to know, Pioneer Market is much more than that. It's not huge, but it's still bigger than you might expect. Very good produce, decent sized meat area, bakery, deli and everything else you can hope for. Keep in mind that this isn't a high end store, but it's much more than what you might expect in a small community. Mariposa is very lucky to have a place like this. Too bad Oakhurst doesn't have one.

I'm a cashier at this market and it is awesome! Prices are a little higher since we're the only grocery in town but not unreasonable. We have a little bit of everything, from produce to meat counter, deli, bakery, and pharmacy. We even sell shoe laces!Sales are applied without any signups with us. We offer a loyalty card with a rewards program that offers discount prices at Grizzly Gas and Chevron in town. Seniors get a 5% discount on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Some people say the place is too cold but it's definitely nice in the summer. We try to be helpful and friendly and we're certainly entertaining! Come check it out; great place.

Being a local we don’t have many options up here. While they have great selection of items their deli and bakery staff are rude and don’t like to be bothered by the customer. There is one in particular lady in deli that I avoid at all costs. The bakery is supposed to have donuts out at 7 am but when you go be advised they go based on what they feel like doing rather than follow a schedule.

As a couple of tourists from Australia I would like to pass on my thanks to the lovely check out attendant who served us this evening. I believe his name was Gordon. He was extremely friendly and welcoming. Made our night! Hope he is appreciated for being the fantastic employee that he is!

Great selection of products in all departments. The prices were ok. The problem I encountered was at checkout. A rather large pale, blonde-white haired checkout team member was inappropriately nasty, rude, and seem to have a “chip on his shoulders”. He would greatly benefit from training on how to serve a diverse population that shop at the store. He doesn’t seem to like all customers and discriminates in his providing friendly quality service to all. So sad in this day an age one encounters such a level of ignorance.

Gordon is crazy! This guy is extremely rude to customers, tells everyone his life story and last night threatened a customer. He asked the customer “do you wanna die tonight? I’m on my last half hour of my last shift in this $h;t hole.” He really is insane.

Thurs about 2:30pm got 8 pieces of fried chicken. Was told it just came out of fryer. It was over cooked and dry. $17.99 + tax wasted on this chicken. Too far to drive back for a refund as I live in Coulterville. Be honest when you tell customers of the freshness.

Considering it’s near Yosemite the prices here aren’t bad. They are certainly more than a typical local store but it is much larger than I expected and plenty of selections. Only downside was on a weeknight they could have benefited from two or three cashier lanes open. But I would definitely still go back! Nice place. Friendly staff.

Enjoyed both of our visits during a weeklong stay for Yosemite. Good selections. A bit overpriced but to be expected. Bought stuff for breakfasts and sandwiches and a steak dinner.

A great place to stock up on food and drinks before heading to the Yosemite National Park! Very good selection of local produce and organic fruit and vegetables, as well as ready-to-eat meals. Good weekly offers on various products. Nice selection of fresh meat at reasonable prices. Friendly and helpful staff.

I didn't see problems with masks at this store, like some of the other reviewers, but mask wearing is basically ignored in this town. It's a bit of a culture shock. This store was useful as an alternative to restaurants and Burger King for buying ready-made food. I got a bunch of goopy pasta salads that could be brought into the park.

A hidden gem! This large grocery store in the small town of Mariposa was a welcome site before we headed into Yosemite National Park. Very clean and a great selection of a typical grocery store. Great produce and meat department and their beer and wine selection was a welcome sight. Typical layout of a store in a large city. Very pleased with the friendly staff and pricing of goods was cheap considering they are the only large grocery store for miles around.

I sure enjoy hearing employees laughing and having a good time, but when a customer needs service at the coldcut counter and the same employees act annoyed at being needed to serve you it sorta leaves a bad impression.Vons employees always greet you with a smile and How can I help you.Guess Ill be shopping there from now on.

One line of checkout turned into 3 when 2 other cashiers became available. I was third in line. When the two cashiers each announced “next”, everyone from the end of line broke off to the new lines. Naturally, I remained third in line.I informed the cashiers that they actually were not helping the “next” customers. To my surprise, one shrugged, and the other said no one moved, so...I said “well, someone moved, that’s why you’re taking a payment. That’s when she pulled the “sir, you’re yelling at me” card.Gotta love this place...

If you're driving through the Mariposa area, this is a good place to get groceries. The staff are very nice and the store has a pretty good selection. You can also get a free card that helps offset the cost of gas at some of the local gas stations, based on the amount you spend at the market.
