We stayed at the grey fox from Friday until Monday of April 2024. We met with one of the hosts Patrick, who’s super friendly and accommodating, you can clearly tell how much he enjoys and loves his job. There was a wedding happening when we arrived and it was such a good vibe right from the start, we were already surrounded with love and happiness. We came here to celebrate our 24th wedding anniversary and when the newlyweds Hailey and Adam heard about it, with the help of Patrick they came over to our cabin and gifted us the flower bouquet that they used for their wedding day, we felt so honored to experience their love for each other and grateful for sharing it with us. We enjoyed a bit of hiking; nearby tour through trees; and the tree of mystery, which is less than a mile away. This place is truly amazing and every moment we had was magical.

What an absolute gem of a campground! We totally enjoyed our time here. The owner, Patrick, is very welcoming, helpful, and so kind. I can’t wait to come back!! They have, a mini golf spot, a game room, a playground, hot showers and they take incredible care of their property. Mystic Forest is the greatest campground in the universe! Hehe they just added a cafe in their shop and they make a great latte!! Thank you Patrick for everything!

We stayed here from Sunday until Friday, and had the most wonderful experience. My boyfriend and our Dobie stayed in the cabin closest to the entrance (might be the only cabin available via air bnb as most of the park is camp sites for tents and RVs, we did see another newer looking cabin on the property but I’m not sure if it’s available or privately owned). The park itself is nestled in the forest, and features a half mile trail through the woods that loops around the property. It’s extremely quiet and the owners are very kind. Patrick was amazing and made our stay awesome. I understand they recently bought the park less than a year ago, and are working are getting it more cleaned up. There are several secluded camp sites in the forest behind the RV area that have a lot of potential. The location of Mystic Forest is perfect as well if you’re looking to explore both north and south Redwoods as it’s right in the middle. Almost everything we did was within half an hour drive. With that being said, my only suggestions for improvement are on the cabin itself. The mattress is really really hard, it felt like a sheet of cement so we opted to sleep on the fold out futon our entire stay after the first night. There is also a musty odor around the bathroom especially, and furniture. I don’t feel like the cabin wasn’t clean, just old and needs a little more renovating. It didn’t bother us too much because we were only in the cabin to cook meals and sleep, but it was a pretty obvious smell. Our experience here was so relaxing I did not want to remove a star for those things although I normally would. I’d stay again but probably bring our own bedding. Maybe it’s something that can eventually be solved. If you’re looking to explore the Redwood parks and forests, I highly recommend staying here.

I camped here in late August of 2023. Patrick was an amazing host and the campsite was BEAUTIFUL! There were people that came and went but I was the only one that stayed there the whole weekend. Campsites are of good size, my 12 ft tent fit in site number 9 along with the table. The fire ring was a little close to the site behind me but no one was there and there were no fires allowed so it didn't really matter. Honestly it probably wouldn't bug during the regular season because the other side's fire ing was farther away. There's a neat tree that's been hollowed out that you can walk into in the campsites. It is exceedingly green and feels like you are in a mystic forest, hence the name. In order to get to the bathrooms it is a bit of a walk, but no more than you can expect from a state park campground. Also the trail goes through a neat little covered bridge over a creek, although it spits you out between two RV sites so just be careful to follow the correct way out. The bathrooms are flush toilets installs and they have showers as well. There is a game room on site and tons of trails and various plants to harvest depending on the season. There is also a store on site that has plenty of goods as well as souvenirs. Reception was good via Verizon. Gas is nearly directly across the street and trees of mystery is also very close by. Significantly more scenic than any other campsite in the area and far from what you would expect from the campsites at your average RV park. 100% would stay again and again and again.Nearby activities: Not far from Redwood National Park, del Norte State Park and prairie Creek State Park, all of which are major redwoods groves. Jedediah Smith State Park, crescent City, eureka and Ferndale are all within an hour drive. So nearby you have lots of trails and lots of good food.Walkability: There are trails all over the RV park and others within a 5-minute drive.Food & drinks: There's an on-site store with lots of food to cook or snack on and drinks to imbibe. I don't believe they sell alcohol though. There is a gas station across the way that you can buy it at but I don't know how late it is open.

Patrick and his wife just purchased this super cool RV park and 2023 was there first season. Patrick was super friendly and we talked for an hour or two. He pointed me towards some great Jeep rides I could do in the redwoods. Just amazing. They have great spots in the trees that are back-in, I took a pull-through site in the large clearing. Camp sites are on grass or dirt, but berry level. They are in the process of revitalizing the campground. The location and owners neutralize the dateless of the place or maybe that is its real charm. I would definitely come back for a longer stay in this area.

Mystic Forest RV Park, absolutely best in the Redwoods. This family oriented park makes you feel welcome and appreciated from the time you drive in. It's run by a young couple that truly loves where they are and what they're doing. The park is in excellent condition, the bathrooms are clean and well maintained, and the park has many amenities. There's lots of room between rigs and grass everywhere. The owners go out of their way to help you have a good time. My wife and I feel very fortunate to have found this gem and we look forward to our next stay there.

Beautiful area. We only had a tent and they were fully booked but were able to accommodate us and our baby. Absolutely loved the location as well. We went in July and the Sun didn't actually hit us until 10ish. The actual Tent area has a lot of lush and the trees are really tall so you won't get baked in your tent. It stays nice and cool regardless because of how shaded it is. Its pretty quiet here too despite the population count and right next to a highway. Its pretty surprising. The new owners were an absolute delight, not only to talk to, but very accommodating. Would recommend anyone to pass by here if you're on a trip.

For starters, I almost never write reviews, but I just had to rave about this amazing site. We had such an amazing trip to the redwoods and a large part of this was the phenomenal campground. From the beginning, the new owners were so kind and welcoming. All they cared about was making sure we had the best stay possible! They always had great recommendations for hikes and things to do in the area. I also felt like it was perfect location wise. We weren’t too far from any end of the parks, which helped make long days of hiking less long. I can’t recommend this site enough.

This place was absolutely perfect! We tent camped in their tent sites and they were so cute! We had site 4 which was very secluded and felt like we were in the middle of the forest. The bathrooms and showers were very nice and clean! There was also a general store on property that had everything you could need. As a bonus they even had a rec room and mini golf! I would recommend this RV park over any other campground in the area.

We were a far way from home and Patrick provided us with nothing but kindness and hospitality! Very clean quiet campsite and very affordable as well. There is also a little gift shop that has everything from cute gifts to things you may have forgotten for your trip. We very much enjoyed our stay and wish we were closer so we could visit more often, highly recommend!Nearby activities: Right down the road from Trees of Mystery!

If you're looking for a quaint and quiet RV park with a lot of character right in the middle of the Redwood National and State parks this place is ideal. We have a little travel trailer and picked a very wooded back-in spot (though there are plenty of pull-throughs and tent camping spots too). There are trees everywhere and a beautiful trail through the back of the lot. The hosts were super accommodating and kind. The laundry and showers were great. None were coin-operated which was a plus. Our site had a fire pit and a picnic table. Hookups all worked great. You can tell the park has been there for a while but honestly we prefer old trees and dirt sites over concrete pads and swimming pools. This is camping after all.

Staying here was a fantastic experience! From the secluded clean camp sites, phenomenal accommodations from the lovely folks running it, to the ease of access to the beauty surrounding the area! We were referred here by locals as a 'hidden gem' and were they ever right!! The bathrooms and showers were always clean, and for it being a holiday weekend, all of the campers were very respectful of the noise ordinance. Thank you for such a wonderful experience to reset and recharge

Tent camped with my family, and loved it so much I came back with my friends the next month for a nights stay! Patrick and Maya were incredibly helpful and informative, and the tent camping sites are just beautiful. Cool amenities, two minutes flat from the beach, and well maintained; we'll be seeing you folks again in the future for sure!

Patrick and Maya are really building a great place here! I think they said they took over this established campground earlier this year. We had tent site, and the tent sites are nicely separated from the RV sites, with a lot of privacy under the trees. Great place for families. Location is perfect for exploring Redwood National and States Parks.

The park is old and run down. To be fair, most of the buildings in this area are old and run down. I’m not sure why that is with all the tourist money coming in. So if this was a review on a curve it would be a 5 star place. Crescent City is a dive with mostly transients. The bathroom stalls did not have locks. The owners were really nice and welcoming and I guess they just bought the place. So, they are doing the best with what they have got. It would take a couple million dollars to get this place to where it should be.

This is an older rv park with amazing new owners that have started making updates. Had to make changes to our reservations and Maya (New Owner) was so kind and understanding. We were here over Memorial day weekend so the park was full and the atmosphere was fun and friendly with a large group playing games in the center grass area. Great area to go on a motorcycle ride. Looking forward to visiting again!

Great place to set-up camp and stay. We stayed in tentsite 4 which was semi-secluded and private. Bathrooms are clean and showers are hot with great pressure. A huuuuuge thankyou to Patrick who helped us when we were in a pickle, you saved our butts! I'd absolutely recommend staying here if you're in the area. I can't wait to come back next time we're in the Redwoods.

Dream RV spots level with grass (no stick weeds) spotless showers and bath house. Patrick and Mia are new owners here. Very helpful hosts. 50 acres of redwood forest and hiking paths. Lots of space between sites and fresh air and quiet. Wood available. Speedy wifi!! We could easily have doubled our days here.Walkability: Easy and level grassy areas.

Great location and they were very helpful in getting us a spot last minute. Tent sites are very private and would recommend over an RV site for a teardrop. Only bummer is that the shower facilities are in the RV section but not a huge deal. We would stay here again.Nearby activities: 1/2 mile from the mystic forest. Eat at the Woodland Villa Restaurant just down the road too!

People are friendly and there are many amenities. We walked the trail twice and played mini golf. Although the golf course has seen better days it was still fun and it was nice that they had a pool table and ping pong. The residence is clean and well kept and the environment was breathtaking. everything was at a slower pace which made it easy to relax. The laundry has to be scheduled. That made it hard but honestly that was okay considering

This is a very scenic location and great place to camp if you are in a motorhome or tent. The site could not be in a better location to see the redwoods as lies in between Del Norte Coast Redwood State Park and Prarie Creek Redwoods State Park. Both parks are absolutely beautiful. It does not feel like one of those concrete RV parks. It feels like you are camping in a beautiful forest. The owners of the park Patrick and Myra are wonderful. The air is so fresh hear as the ocean is nearby which also keeps the place cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter.

Loved this place!Easy access, easy navigating in the park. Best price per lot since we entered California. Large parking spots that range from, tucked back in under these awesome trees to full sun grassy areas. Pull through or back ins. Owners are fantastic, helpful knowledgeable and friendly. Giving above and beyond great service giving this little jem of a place a warm family feel about it.Lots of area knowledge!1.5 miles from Trees of mystery. Paul Bunion and Babe the blue Ox.Not full of long term tenets so no "clutter" piled up around RV's! WINNER!............................................Class A. We paid $45 pd.Park has 30 amp only.Plenty of water pressure.Sewer hookups.Clean well kept laundry room.Clean well kept showers.Nice size gift shop.Snacks and drinks.Free wifi.Nearby activities: Trees of mystery.Ocean.Walkability: So many trails!
