Diedra working self checkout area and Jalyn (pretty sure) working the normal checkout restored my general hope and optimism in this community tonight. The rate at which Jalyn (pretty sure I’m messing her name up) scanned my groceries at a rate I have never experienced it broke my head. They should be awarded for their hard work and dedication to their position and the experience we have as a Safeway shopper. They were so fast that I had barely finished entering my payment details and it was done AND BAGGED. I shop two or three times a week and am a full time resident. Seeing them work that hard on a holiday weekend in our tourism based community is truly mind blowing. I have not had that good of an experience in Safeway in awhile and I thank Jocelyn/Jalyn. While I waited in line to checkout I could see the self checkout area and Deidra being constantly bombarded by customers and HANDLING IT LIKE A PROFESSIONAL. Exceptional service in a high stress environment.

Attention Bill, I was told that you are the manager of Maria Reyes in Safeway at Kings Beach, California. I have been to so many Safeways around the country, as my boyfriend and I have been traveling perpetually for the last 6 years, and we love Safeway. I have to tell you that Ms. Maria has got to be one of the friendliest employees that I've met. She was very attentive, explaining exactly what comes in a combo meal vs other options, she was so polite and gave the best customer experience.

I’ve been using this deli intermittently for a year and it has never worked out well. Deli staff needs training. Based on my interactions there has been little to no training of the deli staff.

By far the best Safeway in the Tahoe/Truckee area. Not as busy as the Safeway in Truckee. Friendly staff. Easy parking. Great produce, deli, bakery and meat selection. They could use a self check out line but that is my only complaint!

Staff was rude and unhelpful - maybe it is the local management culture of carelessness. When I asked the meat department staff for help I was greeted with annoyance and a blatant disregard for my request. I wanted some specific cuts for a beef fondue. The staff told me « you do not explain well » and I was directed to the prepackaged meat area. I even asked if he was having a bad day as I was shocked by his rudeness. Then I went to the deli department and the lady looked disdained and reluctantly helped … and told me « have a good day » before I could order another cheese item. Clearly I did not feel welcome in that store. I would like suggest to management a better training on customer care and support.

Hours are wrong! Not 24 hours! Cashiers are automated and junk so what's the reason for closing on a Friday night before 11 pm? Hours need to be changed to occasionally 24 hours but we do as we please so good luck knowing!

Not very friendly or helpful. Seemed like I was bothering everyone. I ordered a ham and cheese sandwich and that's all. From the way it looks, Safeway in Kings Beach is not a great place to work. Every employee seems unhappy and miserable.

Never enough checkers, especially on holiday weekends. Their produce is so-so, and most of the time you have to bag your own groceries. Prices are high.

Absolutely wouldn't recommend this location. One of their backroom workers decided to not lock the bathroom stall, throw his jacket over it and then snap at me when I opened the door. You'd think employees would be smarter than to block the line of sight if someone was in there. Afterward, I went to get a sandwich from the deli, no one at the counter. I went and asked the guy slicing avocados and was promptly told, "I only do sushi, you'll just have to wait for someone else"

Very limited deli option. I unfortunately bought the worse fried chicken here. All other Safeway's fried chicken I have tried are good enough.

The thing is, it's Safeway's fault, not the rude employees.The employees were clearly from a financially and culturally deprived background, like marginalized, exploited people in stuck in a utopia for white billionaires. Forced poverty results the ignorance and resentment on display at Safeway, and Safeway pays poverty wages and no real full-time benefits. So...#WeCantAffordBilliionaires

My visit here today was great the store was very clean, lots of items to choose from, everything in the produce area was nice and fresh and lively.The cashiers were nice but used self checkout, the outside of the store very clean and well maintained.Overall a great visit Thank you!!

Standard issue grocery store - has all the basics and it's clean. Deli lady was kinda grumpy - but may have not been a good day or something. Not a huge deal, the sandwich was fine.

I am a fan of Safeway, but this location was the all-time worse Safeway experience. They marked down some expired food and then charged me double the price not willing to give me the marked price and my 8 piece bucket of chicken had all the wrong pieces in it. I called the manager and instead of helping me out, he was rude and made excuses for the poor service.

Typical Safeway store: well stocked throughout and very clean and we'll organized. Staff very helpful and knowledgeable when asked for a specific item (Caramel Sauce) they took me right to it, and then asked if there was anything else I needed to find. Good store but pricey.

The lady at the deli took FOREVER to make one sandwich for the customer before us. REFUSED to let my 6 yr. old try a TINEY piece of meat before we chose what we wanted for our sandwich. So we passed. Got some breakfast burritos from the hot case. They were BARELY WARM AND DRIED OUT tortilla was hard a rock. Starbucks was a HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. MANAGER SHOULD BE "FIRED." DISRESPECTFUL and RUDE. Would NOT fix our orders without charging us more money. We will """"NEVER"""" go there again(.) If I could give negative stars, trust me I would.

Very poor service at the deli. I wanted to pick up some sandwiches and salads. The salads looked dried out. The employee said she closed the sandwich counter but there was no sign to inform the customer. Then I walked by a few minutes later and she was making a sandwich so I asked if it was open. She responded with a no and that she was making herself a personal sandwich to take home.

This little supermarket is very well stocked! The cheese selection is very extensive along with the bakery section. Everyone was wearing a mask and distancing appropriately. Parking lot is well maintained and I noticed the employee in the parking lot wiping down the shopping carts. Definitely recommend this Safeway to anyone grocery shopping.

Very clean and organized store. A little higher priced than what I'm used to paying but they are 24 hours so that's pretty convenient. I noticed when I greeted 2 different employees at different times of the day, neither responded. Probably too busy. 🤷‍♀️

Great store for a small mountain community. Excellent selection. Vegetables generally fresh. Good wine selection. Can be shopped out on holiday weekends, so, plan to shop early. Don't go at 5 pm on ski weekends. Love the folks in the pharmacy. Always get my vaccinations there.

I was at the Kings Beach Safeway in Tahoe yesterday and I found out you can park there for free and go to Kings Beach. I was trying to find parking and circled around many times and finally found a place. I asked my cashier Lynn why people who were walking from the beach were parking in the Safeway parking she said where else are they supposed to park. I then ask what about the customers of Safeway and she did not really care. Please have someone monitor the parking at this Safeway. I will be doing my shopping where else.
