I’ve been here a couple of times to buy some Parakeets on two different occasions. I’m not sure why some of these reviews say the employees are rude. All three of them greeted us and were helpful. The young girl was very helpful in helping pick out our birds. Both times we were there in the morning and they were cleaning out cages and feeding the animals. Floors were being mopped. Only reason why I gave 4 stars, it’s a bit crowded. Not much room to move around the Isles. Other than that, we liked it and we will continue to shop there.Also, I wouldn’t want everyone coming in to hold/touch and photograph the birds if I were the owner. People will just come by to do it regularly and bring their kids like a petting zoo.I don’t blame the owners for setting a price for it.

It’s quite frankly disgusting the way they keep these animals. The front has many parrots, at least 5 African greys, and a bunch of macaws and others and every single one of them looks stressed and is plucking their feathers. There’s signs everywhere saying “no photos or you’ll have to pay 15$” and it’s no wonder why, they don’t want to be exposed for the state that their animals are in. The people are rude, the shop doesn’t look like it’s been cleaned in a long time. It seemed like a cool shop when it first opened but it’s sad to see how far down hill they’ve gone. Especially with the care their parrots are receiving. All pets shops are debatably inhumane, but they have some decency. Not this one, not a shred of respect for the animals.

Drove over 30 min to check the place out and purchase a few things for my birds. Last time I spend my money here. The lady that runs the place is completely rude and thinks she knows everything. I’d rather spend more money on a product and get better customer service than to deal with her again. Not very good business practices.

One of the best pet stores I ever been to I am a truck driver and I driven through 48 states and very lucky this is my pet store which is minutes from where I live here in the high desert area. The birds here are raised with love and wonderful care. This is where I met my best friend Rocco we instantly connected with each other. A lot of variety of different types of pets here I am more into birds and chickens and quails. They have everything you need. I want to thank the owners for all the help. They are always here to help you find you what you need. I have had birds for over 20 years and I was so tired of cleaning and all the mess they made. They showed me a trick of how to fix that lol ask them how at the store.

The most horrible experience I have had by far in a pet shop. My sister and I went to get a hamster and the stuff it needed. My sister usually takes my niece to see the animals, she was trying to ask the lady for the stuff she wanted and sense the lady has seen her before and my sister has not actually buy anything she was very rude and was trying to talk down on my sister. She said " I know you have a pattern you come and ask questions and go somewhere alse to make your purchase" , when my sister has not buy anything from anywhere. She than went to the cash register to ask her daughter for what she needed and it was the same experience all over again. It sucks that people think they can just treat other people like that we had 5 kids in there that were very respectful of the 1000 signs that saydont touch, if you touch you buy. The store is very packed and the animals look very sad and sleepy I dont know if thats normal but it was just a bad experience. The lady said that people should assume that if they are not going to actually buy something they are not welcome..🤷‍♀️

If I could give them zero stars I would, very unprofessional! They follow you around like ur gonna take something. if u take ur phone out they tell you you can’t take pictures- OF ANYTHING! No pictures at all.. U have to pay to take pictures theirs hella overcrowded cages Dirty Cages .Just a sad environment for these birds and animals. They should be shut down. And the people who run it could all use a reality check because you don’t treat customers like that.

One of my favorite pet stores in the high desert, bought two of my dream birds from there and they're in fantastic condition. Hoping my guinea fowl pair breed by next year. They just need to get use to my boxers presence but do well with my chickens and even sleep with em at night. My boxer is a multipurpose dog and aside from guarding poultry and pet cockatiels I use her for pest control, hunting, and search and rescue. Fantastic service and I will come back for when I get my aviary ready :]

I absolutely love this place and so do my kids. The entire staff was very friendly and helpful. We got my son his first bearded dragon for his birthday and are completely satisfied with everything we got for our new little family member! Met some cool bird friends there as well and can't wait to come weekly to get our bearded baby his proteins and visit all the beautiful animals there and staff.

When I walked in for the first time, I was impressed by High Desert Pet Shop's variety of birds: doves, pigeons, quail, chickens, finches, cockatiels, scarlet macaw, parakeets, ring neck parakeets, rosetta parakeets, pheasants, lorikeets, conures, love birds, cockatoo, amazon parrot, and parrotlets. They also sell fresh water fish, bettas, several kinds of lizards and monitors, tortoises, snakes, scorpions, tarantulas, geckos, and frogs. For feeders they have mice and crickets. The employees are super responsive and helpful.

Wife's owner very unprofessional Treats returning customers with attitude. All the animals including birds and fish that I bought there Died within Days. Poor quality animals and poor quality feed, I was buying dog food that had worms and mold. I have never ever returned ever since they lost a loyal customer.

Was just in there, their birds look highly neglected. They are gorgeous animals but plucked feathers. They like tired and miserable. There was a lizard, unsure of what kind. However was huge, and no adequate hiding. Only half the body was able to be covered by the provided hide. The enclosed looked gross and unkept. All around very grossly kept pet store. Hopefully someone shuts them down. Also disgusting customer service and rude as can be to customers. They probably don't want people taking pictures because of the condition of the store and pets. It's absolutely ridiculous.

This place has alot of birds. Too many to be exact. They owner abd the staff watch everyoneije a hawk and you cannot tajebany photos of anything if you want to look up reviews about products. The management is rude and boisterous to customers. Very unclean and messy place but what can you expect from low class people like that. I won't be back. In fact, I'm going to report the owner about the miscare of the place and the hording of the animals. Not a comfortable place at all. So sad for the animals. They management and staff need to get it together. I have no photos because they won't allow you to take any. Very questionable.

honestly very disappointed i arrived no one greeted walked around the whole store no one asked if i needed help. i was looking into purchasing a green cheek conure and i face time my wife and right away the worker or whatever she is was like no pictures if not i have to pay 15 dollars. I don’t understand why we can’t facetime how else is my wife suppose to see what conure she will like or think our bird will like. Also they said no touching the birds i’ve been to so many pet shops and they will let you bond with a bird your looking to purchase, but the energy of the employees was bad. Never again will i go to that pet shop.

I felt extremely uncomfortable. I literally just walked out a couple minutes ago and the employee was following me around and she was filming me.I was about to tell her If she was so uncomfortable with me in the store she can hold my hand while I look around the rest of the store.

Do not even waste your time here its not even worth it. We went to go buy chickens and a hen and all of them are sick, 2 of them already died. We wasted $400 on them and they decide to sell us the some old and sick chickens. We called them to ask them why they were sick and they were really rude and started cussing us out. The service is bad and the animals they sell aren't worth the trip. So do NOT waste your time here.

When I went to High Desert Pets, I was completely amazed by their selection of animals. And anything you need to care for an animal, I was greeted by family oreinted staff. The care and happiness of the animals is their first priority, which I find makes a healthier pet when purchased. If you have any questions about your purchase their glad to help. I find High Desert Pets a win win all the way out the door,and to your home with a happy new pet and accommodation s for it.

Don’t normally write reviews. But I just had to for this shop . Love this store . Amazing prices , great staff ! Healthy animals , such a good vibe store . Love the variety of animals and so much product ! I don’t understand why the hate on this store ? But I guess there has to be haters …. 15$ to take pictures and touch animals is not bad at all ! Will be taking my whole family next time ! Thank you for the new addition to my fam! Will be coming here for all my pet needs for sure !

I walked in and it was the best smell I ever smelled walking in to a pet store. They were cleaning and working hard. I like the store and all the selection of beautiful birds, Doves, bearded dragons, chameleons, the cutest piglets, etc I'll definitely be back 👍

When I walked in this "pet shop", immediately I was hit with a strong smell - something putrid encompassed my nostrils. As I daringly walked in, I witnessed all the animals neglected. A myriad of overcrowded birds and due to this, a lot of them were missing their feathers because of these small enclosures causing them to stress and pull their feathers out. No one inside greeted me when I walked in, but gave me dirty looks instead. Animals were missing food and water, unclean areas, dead baby ducks, their products are overpriced etc.The owner by the name of Jackie gave me attitude, and I also saw her be rude to another person working there. This place should be investigated and shut down. One of the worst pet shops I've come across in my life. Needless to say, I left without purchasing anything. If I could, I'd give this place 0 stars.

I called every pet shop in the High Desert looking for a cockatiel bird.. nobody had anything!..then I called High Desert Pet Shop I was so happy when they said they had cockatiels! I drove over there and was very surprised that they had such a wonderful variety of cocktails..I found a beautiful gray and white cockatiel at a very reasonable price..very nice and helpful employees highly recommended

Good price on aquatic live plants. ( update review owner older gentleman is great, but his son or young worker has a terrible attitude came in to try them one more time, I'm done here never again will I go back here if you want better quality fish and friendly staff go to WOW FISH AND PETS Thats a great pet store.)

I've been goin there since they opened. They are always super helpful and informative!!! Super nice people to deal with, you don't get that much anymore. You can tell that they care about their customers and their business!!!It's nice to see a small family business thrive here in Hesperia!!! They work their butts off daily and it shows!!!Thanks for all that you have done for me and my animals and everyone that you've helped with theirs!!!

I 100% Recommended this shop We took our boys to buy their birds. The staff went above and beyond to help us they even taught our boys how to hold them and gave them time to bond with the birds (to make sure that was the one my son wanted). Happy to see there still nice people running business up here. Their patience, kindness, knowledge is one of a kind. Let's not forget about their prices are good too as well as the variety of birds and reptiles.

The aquariums are overcrowded, filled halfway and clearly not taken care of. All of the betta tanks had fake plants in there that gave them no space to move and they were all dead from what I saw. The fish look decent but not healthy. It always smells horrible in here. The only positive is cheap prices on food. They don't care for any of the animals here, they're in cages too small for them and way overcrowded
