Pamela was not willing to tell me what the adoption fee was going to be for a pet I was interested in since it wasn’t listed anywhere and even had to audacity to say my focus on the adoption fee was concerning. She wanted me to fill out an application before even knowing the adoption fee. I wish their pets the best of luck, but either she needs to not deal with potential adopters or the business needs to be forthcoming with information because the number of times I asked and did not get an answer sounds suspicious.

Horrible experience when looking to adopt a small dog purposely because we live in a small place. But because we cannot have a fenced yard where we live which is against our policies we were instantly denied adoption I will be spending that $350 on buying a puppy now this is why we have so many puppies without homes when someone has the need the Home The commitment For a lifelong friend

Please please Beware!!! This is a racist place Pamela is a racist. I tried to adopt a puppy and she flat out told me that she did not feel like doing a home study and she lives really close to me.Had she chosen to do a home study she would of found that I live on 5 beautiful acres with one being fenced in. I have no criminal background and plenty of funds to feed the puppy top quality food. I just do not understand how in this day and age one can justfy such an attitude.

I adopted a chihuahua from Pam 4 years ago now. She was very informative and helpful while I was looking at the dog who had a disability. She brought her to my house and indicated she did not know that I had a cat and the dog was very reactive and excited to chase cats. I told her I would try the dog anyway and that the cat was used to dogs. It took us a full year to get Gabby past being reactive to the cat but we have a wonderful animal family now. Pam called and extended the time to return her under the circumstances if we needed to but we continuously made progress. Now they are "friends" and we are delighted with all our animals. Very positive experience with a woman who works very hard to be an animal matchmaker in the best sense of the word.

We are so pleased with Rescue for Pet Sake and specifically Pam Gorman. She is so passionate about the animals that the organization has saved. She makes sure that the home is safe for the dog and gives suggestions for how to make changes for the pet’s safety. We love our dog and are so thankful to her!

Two and half years ago I adopted my dog, Sophie, from this Rescue. I filled out an application, answered appropriate questions by Pam, and she came and did a home check. I was approved to adopt and Sophie became a member of my household that night. Because of the positive experience, I decided to become a foster for Rescue for Pet Sake and to work in the Shoppe. I am now co-manager of the Shoppe and have fostered a myriad of dogs. Each dog is different and requires different types of homes. Puppies are especially vulnerable and we are very careful where they are placed. We prefer children to be over six, a safe secured yard, and other requirements. We expect the puppy to become a member of the family and not relegated to the backyard day and night. The unhappy family above was not approved to adopt a puppy because their other dog was kept outside 24/7 because of a flea problem. They have accused Pam of trespassing on their property at night to check on their dog and nothing could be further from the truth. Pam, nor anyone else from the organization, would want to drive somewhere at night to spy on applicants that have been turned down. It is ludicrous to even think that. She wrote about the experience on Facebook in order to educate people about backyard dogs, not to embarrass or expose the applicants. Their name was never mentioned nor the city where they live. They have exposed themselves by writing scathing reviews on Pam and Rescue for Pet Sake. I’m sorry they have done that because they could dissuade future applicants from applying for our dogs. I currently have three fosters, two littles, that were backyard dogs and are learning to love being in the home, and one who was thrown out at the age of five months and is just starting to trust people again. Again, we are particular about where our animals go and are sorry we have to turn down some applicants. Not adopting out animals means we cannot accept another rescued foster. Please come meet us in person and find out the truth about our organization. We only want what is best for the animals and are very sorry we have to sometimes turn down people.

It pains me to write this as I am a positive person who would rather spead an encouraging message than this. Two weeks ago my family had to lay our dog to rest after 13 years. We were, and still are heartbroken.We went to this company for help to find a new member of our family and met a woman named Pam. Unfortunately there was no help, encouragement or support. She accused us of bringing the dog back in the future without asking my wife or I a single question. She said that since we have children, that we would not make time for the dog that we wanted. She has clearly never seen any dog movie ever made! Perhaps if she knew my military history, commitment to my wife and family, and the fact that I am a dog lover through and through, she would have displayed more empathy.We have always, and will always rescue dogs. I wont allow a bad experience to sway us from the beliefs that a rescue will always provide more love and commitment to the family that I’ve built over the last 15 years. Unfortunately, I will not go back to the judgmental, assuming, and jaded non-profit, Resue for Pet Sake.*Response to the owner*We are very familiar with your adoption process and contrary to your assumption, we are happy it’s been implemented in recent years. The dogs gain great benefit from this type of process. We also understand that there are plenty of qualified applicants for any given dog and that the dog will go to the best over all home environment.These are some reasons why only adopt from and make charitable donations to rescue centers similar too Rescue for Pets Sake.Our issue is with the way we were being “tested” as Pam put it. Being spoken to in a condescending way as well as making preconceived notions about our family is not a way to conduct an interview.Yes, we still applied for “Courage” but in the end. The situation left such a bad taste that we opted ourselves out on the car drive home.There is no doubt that you will find a wonderful home for him and that we are missing out on a great dog or any other wonderful dog in your organization due to this pubic review. Rescue for Pets Sake is not being held responsible for the actions of one person nor should it ever. This review was to caution readers about certain insensitivity’s and tactics that are being used during the interview process by that one person. We hope that maybe, just maybe this will help her reevaluate her approach in the future. It is abundantly clear that you have a heart for what you do and that lives of dogs really matter to you...please don’t forget that people matter too.Thank you for your response and courtesy on this medium.

If I could give 0 stars I would.The lady who answered my call was extremely rude and when I was trying to ask questions they kept being ignored. The lady kept ignoring me and told me to stop talking and that I need to put in a application and call next month. Her tone of voice was extremely judgmental and she basically told me without even seeing my application that I wouldn’t be picked. She asked if I had younger kids in my home and as soon as I said yes her whole tone turned even more negative. This is a reason why people go to breeders. It’s sad that rescues like this exists. Such a waste of time which really hurt my heart because in the end I got told to be quiet and got told I wasn’t a good option all from 2 questions. If I have young kids, and do I have a fenced yard. Than they hung up on me and told me to call back sometime next month. I don’t think I will be calling back or supporting a rescue that judge and treat people poorly based off two simple questions. Oh and no dogs can go to a home with young children or young adults apparently. I guess only old people can adopt at this rescue and I’m not the only one to experience and say this.

I first became acquainted with Rescue for Pet Sake at an adopt-a-thon at Petco in Grass Valley. I had planned on just going to look at the dogs available. I ended up spending about 2 hours talking with Pam, the founder, and most of the other volunteers. I was amazed at not only their caring hearts, but also their incredible knowledge of working with rescues. Every story in itself is unique, and this rescue is prepared to take on not only the cutest, most adoptable dogs..but also the more challenging cases. I love that they are foster-based...all the animals they take in are placed in loving, nurturing foster homes instead of kennels. These pets then can learn what is means to live in a safe, loving environment until they are ready to be adopted out. It might take a long time, as all medical issues are dealt with before even trying to find a forever home for them. What I am most impressed about is that this rescue makes it clear that they are there first and foremost for the pet...they are the voice for these babies. RFPS has strict guidelines about where and to whom their animals can be adopted...sometimes this means having to decline a possible adopter because the conditions don't meet the rescue's high standards of making sure this is the best, safest, and most loving environment for the animal...this is because, again, the animal's needs come first, and RFPS wants to ensure the pet will have a FOREVER safe and loving home to spend the rest of their lives in. So I realize some folks might be hurt or angry that their adoption request was declined...but RFPS never puts the feelings of a possible adopter ahead of the needs of their pets...the pets ALWAYS come first. And I applaud that stance! Thank you, Rescue for Pet Sake, for continually doing what is best for the pets, even if your decisions might make you unpopular with some folks. Your support and love for these precious fur babies is unwavering!
