Why complain about a bake shop that sells day old goods for fresh prices. Why own a bake shop if you can’t make fresh items. It’s Saturday. Maybe the price is higher when it’s fresh. And to the young lady that lied and said it was fresh made everyday.I hope your day isn’t as stale as your bake sale stuff. Amateurs

Way overpriced for where we are. A basic bagel with lox, cream cheese, and tomato cost over $15! All the toppings are a la carte, which I’ve never seen at a bagel shop. Come on guys, this is GV, not Manhattan. I’m sure other things they offer are great, but I have total buyer’s remorse

Grass Valley has two Flour Gardens to choose from. I prefer the atmosphere of the Brunswick location, but the sweet treats, coffee, and food are good both places. The downtown Flour Garden is a go to place to grab coffee and maybe a bagel for breakfast.

Nice place.Good coffee. We each had a different bagel and cream cheese. Thin, tough and strange runny cream cheese. I threw half of mine away.

Buy a bagel $2.75 want cream cheese on it $3.50 want butter on it $.35 cucumber $1.50 want it actually toasted? You’re out of luck. 😅Somehow I got a bagel that was $9.00 and not even good. I had ordered two and the lady rang me up for one which I thought was the normal price for two (would be more reasonable.) when she realized she rang me up for one she was super rude like I didn’t say anything on purpose and goes “no that would be a deal for two bagels) HAHA. They have really taken inflation to a whole new level.

We ordered two cakes from here. Placing an order was a great experience. They were busy when I called and was told that they would call back and they did within 5 minutes. Olaf was very patient in taking down the order. The cakes themselves were absolutely beautiful, and sooo delicious! One cake was a chocolate cake with coconut custard cream filling and cream cheese frosting. The other cake was a lemon cake with lemon curd filling and lemon butter cream frosting. The cakes were both moist and soft, the filling and frosting on both cakes was not too sweet. Will definitely order cakes from them again! Thanks for making my birthday so memorable!

I'll put it this way, a loxs bagel and a green drink will cost you over $32... Might as well go have a sit-down breakfast at a real restaurant if you're going to pay that amount. Taxed!

I love the Flour Garden Bakery. They make great soups, baked goods, treats. The chocolate dipped macaroons are delicious. I’m so happy for Bill and Susan Copeland for their 40 years of successful business, a local treasure.

At the end of the day the selection is slim. The pressed juices are very delicious, just wish they were colder. They have dog biscuits that my dog loves. The iced coffee is really good too.

On our way to Fairy Fall Head Trail we stopped here randomly for a coffee. My hubby ended up buying the blueberry almond muffin and a raspberry mocha with extra shots. When I tell you he loved it, I mean he really loved it. I have never heard him moan like that with each bite and sip he took. I was amazed. LOL. This place is awesome. We will definitely be back when we head out that way again.

I have been here a lot of times, pre and post pandemic, and very little has changed. When I first moved to the area, this location was my go-to for coffee, bagels, and whatever vegan treat they had that day. I liked that they had a little play/reading area for the kiddos, and their food was a reliable 7 out of 10. It was also nice that their bagels were all (with a couple exceptions) vegan by default, and that their hummus was house-made. They also have pretty yummy soups, and you can buy large frozen soups to take home. Okay, so why only 3 stars? Well, it's mostly the attitudes of the employees. I remember pre-pandemic one employee scolding a child for the way he was playing with the dinosaurs... as in, not addressing the caregiver, but speaking straight to the child. They also seem to choose when they feel like answering the phone. Okay, maybe I caught them too busy to answer a couple times, but seriously? It was a pandemic and ordering ahead is an excellent solution for all involved. Then there was the time someone did answer, but told me she was too busy to take my to-go order... And the way they always ask if we want to tip them? ugh. It's annoying at best - I've worked enough food service to know they could fix this easily enough. Basically, if you need a bite, it's an okay place to get one, but since they have the exact same menu at the other location, I recommend taking the drive over and saving yourself the aggro. ***Side note: To this location's credit, it's usually less crowded than the other location.... maybe because of the service?***

My husband and I have the fondest memories of staying with friends for a few months in Grass Valley and waking up every morning and heading to the Flour Garden for a great cup of coffee. We are heading up this week to visit and will be sure to stop and visit an old favorite. Thanks Flour Garden, for adding to our positive feelings about Grass Valley, CA.

I appreciate that they make a lot of their food with organic ingredients but their pastry selection needs to be rethought. The only enticing treat behind the counter was unfortunately full of raisins. Also awkward when the cashier asks if you would like to add a tip “of 15 or 20%” to your bill... before they serve you the food.

I Have eaten soup, fresh bread, and great coffee here on many occasions with a small group of friends. The inside of the bakery feels a bit like a grocery store, but the quality of food, drink, and service help me overlook that. Organic, Vegan, Gluten free are all options here (lots of choices, not just one or two). Be careful in the busy Safeway/Center parking lot.

I used to go here a lot. It has totally gone downhill!!! The owner needs to get a handle on the people actually running this place! If I could leave a 0 star I would. I ordered cupcakes way in advance for a shower. I also ordered baguettes (which they make on Friday, so I asked them to be sliced on Friday and put in a plastic bag) all to be picked up right before the event on Saturday morning. I was in a hurry gathering all necessary things to bring to shower and stopped into Flour Garden to pick up my paid order. I gave them two names to look for orders. Three of them looked and could not find them. As my car is running, I started to panic! They said they didn't have the order and started to question if I had just made the order! I told them that I had order a few weeks prior and recently paid so that I could just run in and pick up the morning of the event. So they kept looking. Finally one of them came out and asked if it could be under another name. I gave the same two names, then one said "Oh it was under this name, not that name." Then she proceeded to tell me that I did not give the other name! I told her that I did give both names. I asked to speak to the manager. He started to argue as well that I did not give two names. Apparently they did not hear me...but instead of apologizing they continued to basically call me a liar. Then when asked about baguettes they told me they did not have them! As I see the girl slicing them, I asked if they were plain liked order. Well no they were not! They were cheese, which did not go with my recipe! The manager said, "Well your choice is to take the cheese ones or I can reimburse you." I said it is too late now! I said you should just give me the day old cheese ones that I did not order AND reimburse me. He laughed at me and rolled his eyes and repeated my choices. Worst customer service ever! Worst manager ever! I asked for owner info, and gave me her email. I wrote to the owner and still have not heard back! The cupcakes were stale as well. $90 and stale? I will never order from there again. It also took days of calling there just to order or have anyone get back to you...cake person was on vacation? Never! I've owned businesses and would never run one like this. Fire that manager to start!

Love the Flour Garden Bakery at the Brunswick basin. I make it my stopping spot for nourishment when in town. Central with excellent internet, indoor and outdoor seating, and oh my, delicious bakery and food items. Love that I can also get healthy smoothies too - excellent addition. Staff are always helpful and delightful to chat with.

Extremely rude and ungrateful staff! The manager aurara was rude and when I told her she laughed in my face after leaving a good tip for an 8 dollar tiny little smoothie that was half melted. I haven’t been there in years and I remember why. Customer service is key in my line of work and I would be out of business if I employed people like that.

Extremely rude owner and staff. Many better options. After 27 years of this rudeness, I am done. Good luck staying in business with that attitude. I guess she thinks that because she has been here a long time she can be obnoxious!!! The burnt pie on Thanksgiving for $30.00 was a disappointment too. The pies were pre-boxed, so she decided to stiff people with the burnt ones. Happy Holidays!!!

There's an older blonde woman who works here, named Natalie. She's spacey and slow, but everyone else is friendly and helpful. The food is all house-made and delicious. It's pricey, but there is a discounted day-old section.

Everything to make your palate feel happy and healthy! My body feels good after the green smoothies and sinful after the cake and pastries!! Not to mention the varied coffee drinks!! Try the Aztec mocha! Won't be disappointed!

Went there for 3 days straight thinking the next might be better then the last...I was SO wrong. Baked goods were chewy, and when I tried to have one warmed the 2nd day they burnt it and still served it to me. 3rd day my coffee was wrong so I politely asked if they could fix it. A thin older blonde huffed and puffed made me another then flicked her hand for me to go away while laughing with a co-worker. I was too scared to drink it after that. One star is for the beautiful mural, I enjoyed that.

I come here almost every morning, the food and the coffee/drinks are delicious! But the Baristas are usually grumpy, and annoyed by whatever you order. They act irritated if you so much ask them to make you a bagel or so on. Delicious food and drink but the people working lack friendliness.
