Rooms were dated and smelled of old cigarette smoke. Toilet was not clean, and I had to fish the wad of hairs out of the drain before I could use the bathtub. Bed had 2 by 4s sticking out several inches under the mattress that I whacked my shin on. The only real positive was the breakfast bar and the lovely lady running it. Good choice of freshly cooked proteins, the pancake machine was fun, and every other choice of breakfast food you could want.

This place is RIDICULOUSLY overpriced and the pool is bright green. They refused to refund anything even though the website even though it says the pool is open when it's not (and judging from reviews, hasn't been for months, I booked it a long time ago). They didn't have a change machine or enough change for me to break a $20 and do laundry. The rooms are motel rooms and the area feels sketchy - a posse of stray alley cats yeowling, people hanging out late at night in the parking lot. Half of the things were broken at breakfast. Would never stay here again, it's not worth the proximity, stay at the north end of avenue of the giants.

Reserved our room here in large part due to the prominently promoted "pool and spa." Unfortunately, neither is available. They are both full of brownish green fluid (water?). I doubt they've been used in moths.. Had I known I'd have booked elsewhere. The room, though spacious, needs updating (furnishings, outlets, etc). To get a hot shower you must set the dial to cold. And there was an ant in the room. The breakfast was pretty good, on par with its competitors. Overall the cost charged is high for what you get.

This place is extremely dusty and not cleaned consistently. The first room someone left underwear by the chair in the room. Got moved to another room and I was sneezing all night. It was pretty gross. The front desk guy was fast, prompt, and solution oriented. So he rocks. There is only so much he can do. It's not on him, it's the cleaning staff. The location is awesome the freeway entrance is right next to it. Coffee was a nice addition in the morning before check out.If you're stuck and need to sleep somewhere give it a try. Bring your own cleaning supplies šŸ˜‚

We resrved a room with a kitchenette and specifically picked this hotel for the kitchenette, pool, and free breakfast. We arrived at the hotel and was told the pool was "out of order." When we asked for more details, like if it was temporary or would be down both of our days, we were told "it's out of order."We got to our room and it did not have a kitchenette. When we asked about the kitchenette we were told that room was being remodeled and they couldn't give it to us. It wasn't until we pointed out the price difference did they offer to refund the difference. We noticed we had approximately 1/4 of a roll of toilet paper and 2 towels for a family of 4 for 2 days.Of the 1 sinks, 1 was clogged and took about 5 minutes to drain. The main door had huge gaps on several sides and we could see people walk by through our door gap.We got to breakfast and their pancake maker was "out of order." Their juice machine was "out of order." The other non dairy items were not stocked. I'm lactose intolerant which meant I didn't get breakfast that morning. My girls loved the yogurt machine on day 1 but on day 2 "out of order."Although not in their control, Humboldt County/Garberville is a hole. Full of drug addicts, crime, and drug dealers. I watched drug transaction after drug transaction happening in the parking lot. Before leaving we asked for an itemized bill. We were told they would email it. We confirmed our email and waited. Nothing! We have called back several times and we were told they would send it and we still dont have it. I would not recommend staying here.

We were rolling through on our motorcycles in 2021, there was four of us and needed a room. The staff was super friendly and attentive to our needs. they offered us a cot, and Allowed us a discount for me to sleep on an Air mattress on the floor. The Breakfast was good, and the rooms clean. Importantly the shower had great pressure and the AC was cold as ice.

Our room was clean and we liked the little soaps they provided and the balcony overlooking the pool. Staff was friendly and breakfast was decent. Our room was dark though and smelled slightly of cigarette smoke. The room next to us had a small dog that barked a lot and the walls are thin. Also, it would be super nice if they could provide a few bottles of water in the room.

We stayed here on April 4, 2023 in room 228. We arrived in the evening and did not check the shower/bathtub that night, but in the morning found that the faucet was broken with no water at all. The breakfast had a broken out of service waffle/pancake machine, a broken out of service yoghurt machine. There was only some stale white bread, no milk, this was really sad. I contacted the hotel twice with no response at all. When we told the desk staff that morning before checking out, the woman basically shrugged. Still waiting for any response at all.

Stayed here one night and was glad to leave. The motel is very old and rooms were not detail cleaned for a long time and our room also had ants. When checking in there was no real host after we got our first room that the door lock would not open we were moved to another after a long wait for a host a maintenance person rechecked us in.The breakfast was a joke also and the area was very unsanitary. The place could be nice if the management and employees took some pride in there work.

You would never know you're in a tiny town at the best western plus. What an amazing place to stay. Very clean. Extremely comfortable. The hot breakfast was even good. Convenient check in and out. They have all the little extras (shampoo, conditioner, lotion, etc) at no extra charge to you. The room has bottles of water for you too. It was a wonderful stay.

My room seems pretty good. Heck it's Garberville! Staying 1 night lessee how it goes.Edit: It's a pretty good place to stay. At least the 3-br suite we stayed in was pretty good. Priced as if they know they're to only game in town. The breakfast was pretty sorry, but it did have the advantage of being free. Broken equipment, servers not keeping chafing dishes stocked with food, and so on. Coffee was OK.For a breakfast worth paying for, there's the Eel River CafƩ just a few blocks down the street.

We were appalled staying here. For some reason we were put in the basement and access was unbelievable, dungeon-like. Pictures show it all. Obviously there are major water issues as the condition of access to these basement rooms is a shock. That wall was what we saw from our room door. If it weren’t too late to go elsewhere after a 10 hr driving day, we would have left immediately. The room looked ok inside but the ā€œpatioā€ is a closed-in, tiny solid box, in terrible condition. Water was seeping UP THROUGH the bathroom floor grout, and previous flooding is evidenced by the swollen door base. The tv didn’t work, we had to change rooms, there was no microwave, and using the office microwave when you have to walk outside in the winter to bring food back to your room is absurd. We are seniors and the elevators don’t work. We expected use of the jacuzzi and it didn’t work. The pool patio is all chipped up.I’m sorry but this place is a disgrace to the best western brand. The cost was absurd for this experience. We’ve written to best western to alert them to the condition and f this place and we expect a full refund.Noteworthy details: Don’t go near this place.

- Friendly, helpful, KIND service. We were told about an awesome park/river access nearby (Tooby) to take our dogs- good breakfast...and wine and cheese the night we stayed- great gym! Super clean & TV- beautiful pool and surroundings. Hot tub is broken - don't get your hopes up- Quiet!! My mom and I both couldn't believe how peaceful this place was considering all the people and animals staying there. Pet area is small but will work and nice neighborhood to walk your dog nearby- very happy with Humboldt Bar and Grill for dinner - 1 minute drive

This place is unique in that it has a room that has 3 queen beds - so our entire family could stay in the same suite. Had a little kitchenette so we could make something quick for dinner. How wonderful. Their breakfast was delicious and the staff was friendly and helpful. We were grateful that they had a hot breakfast after our long drive the day before. We would definitely stay here again - safe location, AC works great, a little dated but priced perfectly. Close to the redwoods and bigfoot.

Amazing hotel for the rural location we were in. The front desk staff were pleasant and attentive. We arrived just in time for happy hour which includes wine, cheese, salami and crackers from 6p-7p all included. It was perfect! Also the rooms were nice and clean. The bathroom was spotless, AC worked great! Showers were perfect. Linens were nice and clean. Of course the rooms were a little dated but we were truly happy with our stay. There is also a pool and jacuzzi outside, we didnt get in it but they looked clean. Continental breakfast was great! Waffles, yogurt, granola, cereal, coffee, juice, pastries etc. The eggs were not good but everything else was fantastic. I would definitely stay here again if i was around this area!!!!! Thank you!

Room was clean and comfortable. Hands down favorite part was the breakfast! Pancakes with all the fixings! Bacon and sausage too! Never had such a fancy hotel breakfast before! Didn't catch the gals name who worked in the breakfast room but she was very helpful!

I was very happily surprised with this place! Front desk staff was very welcoming and friendly. The room, as well as the entire hotel was very clean and well maintained. The pool and grounds very nicely landscaped and kept up. The beds were comfortable, it was quiet, had a great view of the mountain, and a good sized balcony to sit on. Well located in the heart of the redwood forest, so it was easy to get to everything! I am very rarely so impressed with a hotel; I had to write a review. Plus, the complimentary wine and cheese (5:30-7:30) made the sticker price not so bad! I highly recommend this hotel if you're traveling to the area! Pool and hot tub were very nice and well maintained also.

We are Humboldt locals and wanted to get away for the night. They allow dogs which was GREAT! Although there were no baggies or garbage bins anywhere to put poo in. The person checking us in was very robotic and cold. And when we called and made the reservation we made it VERY clear we wanted to relax in the hot tub, when we got there is was closed and roped off. Would have been nice to have been told that prior to checking in. For the price of the room we were disappointed.šŸ˜”

What I Liked?1. Nice quiet hotel.2. Breakfast spread is very good.3.The staff is extremely kind and helpful. What needs improvement?1. We stayed in a suite with kitchen. There were very few pots/pans.. They were non-stick pans with no lids and had hundreds of scratches and I was too scared to use them as they are health hazard.2. Just 1-2 spoons.. The staff then gave me a few plastic spoons to use.3. The carpet in the room had a very bad odor. They need to fix that asap.4. The toilet door wouldn't lock from inside..5. I still don't believe that we paid around $200 per night for this suite..

Front desk was very friendly, facilities are great and rooms are kept up to par. Bathrooms seem newly remodeled so very nice. Small town does close early so if you're passing through and need a bite to eat good luck! Pool and spa/hot tub are outdoors and there are even rooms that have a gate from their patio to the pool so pretty cool there! Surroundings of this town are a little sketchy especially at night, not the hotels fault just something to be aware of when you're staying. Price over the quality of stay is a little high, thus my rating for 3 stars.
