I have only been going to this shop for about 9 months but it quickly became my favourite. They have absolutely everything you could ever need for all kinds of pets, from dogs to aquatic animals and feeders. I got my tarantula Tig here in November, and my Betta fish Michael Wave in April (both are doing awesome still).Every time you buy plants or an animal, they ask you plenty of questions to inform you and make sure you're being responsible and know what you're doing. I've always appreciated it, it goes to show they care about the animals. It's a little sad that they're retiring, but they deserve the rest. They've served the community for decades. Will always love and remember this place

Great shop but all I ask is that your guinea pigs have all the necessary items for their cage. They should have their water in a bottle not a dish, they require lots of Timothy hay. Please make these accommodations, they can drown if they are given water in a bowl like the one I saw.

This place holds so many memories of trips here with my father and grandfather. Always been great service and the best business owners around. They are retiring after 35 years at this location and another 5 years prior to this shop. Please help them go out with a bang and retire comfortable. They will be having a sale from now until they are empty.

Today I was in town and saw this pet store, at first I thought it was just a pet feed type of store, since its at a corner, but upon entering I saw that it was a fresh water tropical fish store. Met the owners a kind respectful, older Asian couple.The husband helped me find what I needed , his wife gave me a discount. What else can i say. Except that it has been a while since I've been met with such kindness and Respect anywhere, I Highly recommend this store for all your fresh water aquarium needs. Hurry!!! they will close after 35 long years, November 15 2022.Everything will be 50% off then. Come support them before they close for good.Thank you!.

Love this place. The owners are super nice and there tons of cute little fish to choose from. Highly recommend anyone to come here to inquire about what fish you want as a pet. As well as nice decorations at a discounted price.

Amazing place, family owned and operated. It has been in business (same location and owners) for 35 years. The store is closing, they are retiring. Everything is for sale 10-40% off. Very nice and knowledgeable people. I will miss them.

Fontana Tropical Fish and Pets are the best! Please don’t waste your time going anywhere else. It’s a family business that truly cares. John, the owner, is a very pleasant man with tons of knowledge. All his employees are friendly, and the shop is well stocked, arranged, and clean. We bought a 100 gallon tank and stand for a very reasonable price. John then advised us, and helped us with everything that went in it. He has good name brand items in his store. John was even able to arrange delivery, and set up. You will get impeccable service here, and I believe you can find everything you need in one stop. I also saw things for birds in there.

I have brought fishes from this store 3 times now. A total of 10 fishes. All the fishes I purchased are healthy. I quarantine the fishes for about 2 weeks just to be safe. I have had no issues with them! Very happy with the quality of their fishes.

We love it here!! We have been coming here for 4 years. The owners are very knowledgeable & are the sweetest. Their fish are soo healthy & there is always a good selection & variety. The price is very reasonable & the kids love coming in just to say hello to the fish & buy food for ours.

Been going here for roughly 30 years, I think, and it appears the store may be winding down. The proprietors have ALWAYS been polite, and even after not visiting the store for a number of years the owner still recognized me on my first visit back. If the store remains open I encourage you to visit to keep it going. If they are looking to retire I want to send a big THANK YOU to the owners for serving the Fontana area for so long.

I've been coming here since I was around 4, im 18 now. This place has sentimental value so it is a bit biased. I do think it's such a nice and relaxing atmosphere. They offer a wide variety of fish and food for those fish. I suggest stopping by with an open mind. It's a little hidden but it's a gem.

I come to this shop on occasion when looking for the more rare aquatic plants and fish that aren't found at other pet stores. Very courteous and knowledgeable staff. In my recent visit I had an unpleasant experience however, when it came to the handling of the fish I wanted to purchase. The person was causing the fish to dart back and forth and was moving ornaments around rather than removing them, some of which I witnessed injured a fish or two. It made me really worried that my recently purchased fish might not make it their first week due to the stress. My second issue is the prices. I get that its a small and reputable business but the idea of paying 5 dollars minimum for nearly all fish, juvenile and adult alike, and even snails is unsettling. Not to mention theres no guarantee policy in place which makes it the decision all the more difficult. This place would generate much more business if it tweaked the prices on ALL products down a notch as it they dont always coincide with the quality. This is just my opinion. For anyone that needs to know I've kept fish for more that a decade.

Very knowledgeable owner, great prices. Very friendly customer service. I recently had to replace my fish tank and was told at another fish store that they couldn't just sell the tank so I drove to Fontana Tropical Fish Store where he had no problem just selling me my tank!

I'm going to go with middle of the road here. the staff was very friendly and very helpful. The selection was good and the prices fair. The guinea pig I purchased still won't come out of it's house but I assume it's just shy and seems healthy. my issue is with the $30 tarantula I also purchased. I've only had it 2 days and it spent the entire time sitting in one corner or another. wouldn't eat, wouldn't drink, nothing. Almost looked like it was molting across it's abdomen. And then got home from work today, day 3 of having it, and it's dead. There was a big sign saying no exchanges or refunds. I don't think I'll be going back there for another one as now I question the health of their animals.

Not a bad fish selection. Lots of higher priced discus German rams, and great selection of tetras. I'd have like to see more selection of smaller variety fish in the pygmy ranges. With all the nano tanks they have sell... selling some 0.5 to 1 inch fish selection would be great

I had gone to petco to buy a fish and start working on my salt water tank. I knew nothing about saltwater tanks. Lady there was super rude and made me feel like i was dumb. I came here and they were more than happy to help me. They set me up with everything i needed to have a successful tank. I bought a clown fish there, 2 years ago. He is a happy fish thanks to them. They are nice and knowledgeable. I know they are a little more expensive than petco and maybe other places but i rather pay them, who are nice and treat me good. Than anyone who makes me feel dumb just to get what i need at a cheaper price.

One of the best fish stores i been too like many others I went to other fish stores asking questions on how to start a salt water aquarium when I would ask they would say it's a hard hobby and that was it..... but when I came to this place the owner I'm assuming said okay pointed a few things I needed to start off with explained what maintenance I need to do and how to do it and so far my anemone is healthy and has growing my tank is in great shape by doing the steps he told me I highly recommend this place especially if your a starter and want to understand the hobby and keeping your fish happy and healthy.

Bought fish from this place and put them in my tank did the whole put the bag in the water and let it sit and two days go by those fish die and all my other fish along with them. Before i put thoes fish that I had bought from this place in my fish tank were perfectly fine and healthy. Not the first time that I bought fish from this place and the fish died. Just thought the first time I did something wrong because only the fish that I got from this place died but this time the fish I got from this place and my fish that were healthy died. I learned my lesson never buying fish from this place.

The owners are so nice. Always choose this over the retailers. It's a little more expensive than retail. But it's a ma and pop shop. Keep them afloat! No pun intended.
