This place is absolutely wonderful. I go here nearly every week to help socialize the cats. The staff is super friendly, and the cats are so wonderful. There’s an open room where the cats can run around and play, and there are lots of cozy chairs to sit in and cuddle. This place is absolutely amazing and I wish more people knew of it. 10/10, I’d love to adopt here when I live in a house that allows pets.

Absolutely wonderful business! We adopted our little Anzutake (previously named "Jessiah") from this foundation. They take such amazing care of their animals, emphasizing health and nutrition, using microchips, and giving vouchers to those in need. Kimi was an absolute doll, too! If I were to adopt another kitten, I would definitely do it through CAF again!!

We had a wonderful experience adopting two kittens from CAF! Kim and the volunteers are extremely knowledgeable and provide a lot of information about how to best take care of your new fur babies. They provide you with all the information they have including vaccination status and test results so you know you're getting a healthy pet. They are very careful to not let the young pets develop any bad habits or behaviors and do the best to ensure you get a happy and well-behaved pet.

I loved my experience here getting my new best friends, this was about two years ago but my experience was fantastic, my only complaint was that the owner was so passionate about her cats and her work she could talk your ear off. We adopted a kitten and a cat both have become family, having the staff teach us the benefits of not to use hands to play has made my two babies wonderfully gentle and kind.Edit: I looked at the Google review images and saw a few of a black and white kitty with a beat up nose, that's our baby she's on the left enjoying her best life now relaxing with my old man on a heated pad.

CAF is a fantastic place to adopt your next furry friend. The staff are very friendly and flexible. My partner and I visited late on a Wednesday and was allowed to stay after closing to mingle with kittens and to fill out adoption papers. We came back the following Wednesday to pick up our newest kitty. He was up to date on all his shots and came with coupons for local shops and a few homemade toys. If you are looking for a new furry friend, I highly recommend CAF. They are amazing!

We have had the most amazing experience working with CAF! We initially became volunteers to foster (which was very simple), then we connected with our foster dog and were able to adopt. Both processes were organized and informative with tons of support. The facility was clean and the staff was kind and compassionate. Any questions I had were answered with kindness and patience. Our new dog had excellent medical care and she is absolutely the sweetest little lady! Thank you CAF for all that you do to support our community, and your community loves and supports you!

Companion Animal put on a camp for kids last week. On Saturday we did a meet n greet with them. The kids were awesome and very informative. Kim really goes out of her way to make sure the animals are well taken care of. All the animals that were up for adoption were on display. Lots of adoption applications were filled out. We've been approved and on a waiting list for a puppy. We found our Lucy! We have to attend a foster parent training before bringing her home. We will be able to adopt her after she is spayed. We are so excited and can hardly wait

One of the most accommodating and kind hearted groups of people. They handle adoptions and the care of their animals with the utmost respect and love, and the volunteers/staff they employ are capable and understanding individuals who work hard to find you the perfect companion. Big shout out the the head of it all Kim, for someone who has the world of animals on her shoulder she takes every ounce of time you need to help you thrive with your pets. This is a great place to adopt from if you’re looking for a healthy and welcoming environment that looks beyond prejudice and does their best to find a furry friends for all who has it in their heart to care for one.

Fantastic place! While bicycling up the Pacific coast in June I gave my only fleece jacket to a sick man in need on the roadside near Eureka. It's quite chilly on the coast (especially at night), so I needed to replace the jacket. Quickly. The friendly and most helpful ladies at the thrift store in Arcata found me a lovely pink poncho for a bargain price. A fleece poncho isn't the most practical garment for bicycle touring, but I liked the color and thought (correctly) it would double as an excellent pillow. I wish your staff all the best, and thank you very much for keeping me warm and happy (and highly visible) the rest of my way to Oregon!

Got us a pup from here not long ago, $250 for a adoption isn't too bad for a dog. Micro chipped and all of it's shots except Rabies. All in all was a good experience.

the staff is very rude, i adopted a kitten from there about 3 years ago. they wont let you play with them using your hands because they claim that it causes " hand aggression" when we were bringing our kitten home, the kitten stuck her paw out of the carrier and started to play with my sisters foot, and they told my sister to stop messing with her becaue it will cause aggression to that part of your body. if you are looking to adopt a cat or a dog, please check out another place with better staff, such as sequoia humane, or miranda's rescue. thanks for the cat though. shes great, just a shame that the service is horrible.

I shop at all thrift stores in Humboldt because I like to get used things for a good deal. This thrift store's prices are about twice as much as any other one in the area. Once I was looking for used DVDs and the DVDs were on the bottom of the book shelf and in front of them was a gassy smelling cat litter box (the poop needed to be scooped) and my kid loves movies I did not notice the DVDs at first all I noticed was the litter box it could be smelled from the front door. I have cats and so I know when it's like that it's time to scoop. I nearly had a heart attack when my kid grabbed a Tom and Jerry DVD that was right above that litter box. Like everything else I bought that day from this store the DVD had to be sanitized with bleach wipes. Everytime I try to buy something at this store I have to wait for a long time before someone checks me out. When one particular person checks you out she is so rude. the one in blue lake is similar but the people are nicer and they sometimes have better stuff.

This place smells like cat poop, and it's obvious they have also peed all over the carpet. I witnessed the owner being extremely judgemental and rude to someone asking about adopting a kitty. The selection is good, but I wouldn't get clothes there because of the smell.

We have adopted 2 rescue pups here Frodo and Cupid now known as Ranger and Scout.Every person here genuinely cares about the well being of all animals. They work hard everyday dedicating time to make a difference in this community, connecting animals with people for a mutually beneficial companionship.If you are looking for a dog or cat I would highly recommend checking this place out before going anywhere else. My Boyfriend and I ended up there by chance or maybe fate? Ever since then we visit regularly to shop at the thrift store and bring by our pups to visit the people who saved them.Whether you're looking to adopt or simply to shop at a great thrift store this is place to go.Good quality and lots of variety at this thrift store and proceeds go to vet bills, spaying/neutering, feeding and boarding costs etc.

This place is cool, and their cause is great - but don't be fooled, this is NOT a thrift store. It is a Boutique. If you are looking for thrift store pricing, you're looking in the WRONG place.If you are looking for a REAL thrift store with REAL thrift store pricing, try ANYWHERE else. If you really want to pay 5 to 100 TIMES what a thrift store would charge for the same item, go ahead and shop here.Sorry to the owner, I like you, but you just don't get it. I truly wish you luck though.

The owner is the rudest person I have ever met. I wanted to adopt a dog and she had the worst customer service ever. She does not know how to take care of these animals and she hung up on me several times after telling at me for trying to have a civil conversation about a dog that I really wanted to give a good home to. She treated me like i was stupid even though I have raised dogs from being puppies before. This store is terrible and I would not recommend going there.

My grand-puppy had a appt yesterday, at the wonderful Sunny Brae Animal Clinic and I noticed the store, had never heard of it before but it is the twin of the now closed community thrift and gift , minus the animals, who all were very cute.. I . Agree Alice, the owner was extremely rude and abrasive and insensitive ,a kind woman was simply trying to donate. After a ridiculous rant about what she would do if she couldn't sell some of the woman's donations, and after a quick glance she shrieked loudly that a few items had stains and that would not do for her store. (LMAO) Ur Joking -- then she advised the lady to take them to Eureka rescue mission thrift store , because they are not so selective, They take everything. - - Hello. ??. . Looks like U do too - then, to top it off, another customer brought in a donation, and she quickly looked and loudly said he could wait on the cluttered side of the store 😬 that she LiKED his items and Definitely wanted them! How rude and unprofessional , you didn't care that the other customer who U needlessly criticized , could have heard thus, since she did ask permission to visit the puppies. And by the time u got to me I was Fed up with ur rudeness so as soon as ur acid tounge got started, I cut u off , I have plenty experience in Bitchy, and u r a piece of cake . Which I can eat for breakfast 🍰So go ahead with ur sarcastic and dry, fake reply, because u and I Know that with the numerous blessed years we have been alive (i.e our Age) We Must know EXACTLY how we behave and interact with others. Heaven is a place on earth. Bought a jacket and dress for 15 total. Really kind staff, beautiful live-in cats Queen Trinity and Kiko. Hung out in the kitten room for an hour. I loved it

The people who work here at both blue lake and Arcata are rude. Horible shopping experience at both. Way over priced. It's second hand. Miranda rescue way far better shops.
