I regularly shop at Vons Encinitas. Lately I have been underwhelmed with the overwhelming changes in pricing and confusing discount offers. I was mischarged on two items, after spending a lot of time searching for and clipping deals. I "swore" to myself that I was done w/Vons. Then... I went back to speak to the manager Haywood, and he was very helpful with correcting the mistake. His personality is hot & cold, depending on the day and the employees, but this day was good. I realized that he and the staff are dealing with a confusing and constant revising of the way Von's promotes items and offers, it's not the employees fault. Thanks to Hayward and the employees, I will continue shopping at Vons/Safeway. I've been a customer in all west coast states for over 40 years.

This post is for the Deli Department. Let me start by saying that the older gentleman working there is sweet as pie (he gets 5 stars). I shop at this vons often and he is one of the few that I always see working, acknowledges that you exist and alway willing to help! He deserves a raise and/or to be promoted.He is doing the absolute best that he can with what he has been provided (practically nothing). There is NO fresh produce to put on the sandwiches (see photo below). He had to search the plastic container of tomatoes for something that was not bad/moldy and had to grab unwashed lettuce from the shelf. I only paid for the sandwiches ($15) because I was so grateful for this man spending all the time to make them. I trashed the sandwiches and grabbed a bagged salad to eat for lunch instead. This deli is inside a grocery store that has an entire aisle of fresh produce! There is no reason a customer should be stuck paying $15 for a meat and cheese sandwich. Needless to say my lunch was beyond disappointing today.

Staff is honest, kind, courteous, friendly, and professional. They are always there to help every single time.My mom left her phone in the bathroom and left after shopping. We came back two hours later, and a staff member had turned it in. The pictures of her grandchildren had not been back up. It was the most valuable for her.Thank you.

This is the only Vons grocery store that I know of that has a specific gluten-free bread that I like that I usually have to buy over at Sprouts so I am now committed to shopping there whenever I need to get my groceries. Still hoping that Vons will have a bigger selection of gluten free foods but it looks like the Encinitas one is making some really good strides.

UPDATEThis store was fine, before but I had given it a four. I've added one more star because I've been to the pharmacy several times for vaccinations and different shots. I'm very pleased with their service there and I really appreciate that because I seen other experiences that were very upsetting. So I definitely am adding a star. Well earned I appreciate it thank you.OLD REVIEWVONS is a simple grocery store with good discount prices. It does get to the call from time to time with the app and the coupons and what have you but basically they serve up a lot of variety at good prices and they're everywhere. So I would say it's an appreciated place and when you have to do with the managers they're very nice. Have a great day.

I've been going here off and on for years. The selection is enormous, and the prices are pretty good. But the employees always seem disinterested in the people who come to shop there. I don't know what it is. At other grocery stores in the area, the employees look you in the eye and smile and engage. But here they seem to just ignore you like you're a necessary evil.

I was there at 2pm. I asked them to please heat up the chicken pot pie. They refused. Why even have the sign that says hot chicken pot pie if it’s empty and you refuse to heat up one of the six cold ones you have in there.

I just recently tried out ordering food online through the Vons app. It’s much cheaper than instacart ane you get all the discounts plus more you wouldn’t even know about unless you went through your junk mail. It’s super convenient to place your order and then go pick up your food. They do all the shopping for you and bring it out to the car and load it. It’s free and like I said very convenient. If you set a pickup time for 1pm and you don’t make it till 3pm they keep the cart in the refrigerator so your food won’t spoil or melt. Great service.

This store got a little weird after COVID. The staff members at check out seem to be absolutely miserable every time I go in there, and that's rare now because it feel so uncomfortable to go in. I don't know what happened but luckily there are other stores around. It's clean though!

We are visiting from Texas, Massachusetts, Florida, Georgia, Arizona, and D.C. right now, and have 20 hungry mouths to feed! Vons had everything we needed of course, but our cashier Erik went above and beyond to make sure we were well taken care of. A >$1000 order at 9:00 on a Saturday was handled with grace and efficiency! We really appreciated his kindness and patience with us and think he did an excellent job at reflecting the values of the company. Thank you Erik!!

Always the best experience when I shop at Vons. Brandy gives the absolute best customer service. I'd give her 10stars if I could just for customer service alone. She is always so helpful and knowledgeable about everything. Always has a great attitude and makes you leave the store with a smile on your face. Listen, we appreciate the great just for u prices, but 4 deals, but... be better than your competitors! Make it easier to find the great deals when you have them! End caps perhaps? Also, Vons on Mountain View, ducks! I go in early Friday morning for the Friday deals, they are out? Order never came in? What kind of bull is that?! If you're going to have a sale, have PLENTY of sale items! Every single time I go in there, and it NEVER fails, you're out of that day's special!

The selection is okay. The quality is good but their prices are far too high. I used to be a regular shopper at Vons. I seldom go any longer. By going to other stores, I save a good deal of money each month.

I have been to this Vons for the past 5 months and have had extremely positive experiences with the staff, specifically a gentleman named Eric. It's my home Vons and you can get pretty much anything you need there. They also have sushi now and an upgraded wine room next to the pharmacy. There's also a Panda Express inside and Starbucks. It's pretty quick in and out at this particular Vons. The management does a good job in this store. The only area I would stay away from is the pharmacy. The pharmacist was so rude I'll never go back. Other than that it's a great Vons.

Neighborhood friendly grocery. I usually ask Donn to recommend wine, he knows the best selection and for the best price. Eric is my favorite checker, he's a ceritfied foodie and loves what he does. Great selection of organic produce and excellent deli counter.

They recently downgraded this Vons (Winter 2021/2022) and now they only carry very basic and low end products but their prices are still high. It's such a bummer. I'll start shopping elsewhere.

Friendly workers, especially those assigned to “Takeout/Curb Side Delivery/Doordash” section. They have to complete everyone’s shopping list, have it bagged, organized, and in a timely manner. If you’re ever shopping here, worth stopping by the floral dept / delivery dept to say “Thanks for keeping people fed during quarantine!”

It has a great sandwich counter and specialty soups. My favorite is the Chicken tortilla and broccoli cheddar soup. I wouldn't recommend the clam chowder. They always have great deals on wine. 10 percent off 6. And there is a Starbucks inside!

Okay grocery store in a convenient location with a Starbucks inside (even though there's another one in the same shopping center, maybe 100 yards away). The lines are often pretty long and slow (even the Express lane) and they aren't very proactive about opening new lines. They also don't have Google or Apple pay yet, which is strange.
