This morning I met some friends for a quick bite before heading back to Reno to work. The server was quick to get me a menu and promptly took my order. Because I was in somewhat of a rush, I ordered a 1/2 order of Biscuits and Gravy. It was the perfect size and amount and not too much like biscuits and gravy can tend to be. Even though it was smothered in gravy, the biscuit was really good and had that homemade taste. The gravy was good and that of the usual gravy taste, but nothing to super rave about. It was nice to sit at the bar in the sun room and be able to watch cars pass by and people walking. As I left, I saw what looked to be a patio area with tables and a makeshift stage. I'm interested if they have live music and plan to call and find out.

Just having a meal in this cool spot is a treat in itself. Amazingly kind customer service, a beautiful interior with a lot of personality, and yummy food! The menu is basic breakfast and lunch foods but they indeed do a great job. The french fries have a thin crunchy crust on the outside. They also asked me if I want my corned beef hash crunchy and I said YES thanks for asking. As someone who orders corned beef hash everywhere that offers it, I was so happy that this is the 1st place that asked for my preference! I will make sure to come back here every time I am in the area. The thought of this place puts a smile on my face.Parking: Parking lot but most of it is too wet and muddy. We ended up parking on the next street over.

Had the hot pastrami sandwich for lunch. The sandwich was really good. Lean meat, fresh bread and hot when served. We went last month in the middle of the week so there was no wait. The server did not have much of a personality and I felt like we were more of a duty to her rather than a couple that she wanted to provide excellent service for. This is a very fun place when locals are there partying to the live music behind the building in the outdoor sitting area.

A charming gem on the Northside of Lake Tahoe. We have eaten here twice so far and we have all left satisfied each time and had some yummy food. If you have a larger group I would recommend getting there a little early but with a group of 3-6 we never had to wait more than a couple minutes. The waitstaff were all very cooperative with each other and super friendly. My favorite thing I ate here was the Deluxe French Toast, but I wasn't disappointed with anything I tried.

The food was phenomenal, well worth the wait if you go during their busy hours. Reasonably priced for the amount of food you get. While waiting, you can get a coffee and wait outside for your table! Would come back again and again if the vacation days allowed!Parking: Parking in their own lot or on the street.Kid-friendliness: Plenty of children that were eating inside with booster seats if needed.

Decent option for a weekend family brunch. The pancakes were really great (having had mediocre or bad in most breakfast places). The veggie omelette was ok, a bit under seasoned. The chicken sandwich and fries were tasty. Coffee was on point too (wish they served espresso). Service was super super slow on a Sat around 11am. It took too long to put in the food order and then get the food.

The place is quaint and very nice. The service was good, food coming out was very slow, but the place was slammed and they did warn us before hand. Food came out hot and was delicious. In Tahoe City I recommend the Old Post Office Cafe for breakfast.

We had breakfast/lunch here and it was amazing! Pancakes were fluffy! The order of French toast was enormous! The chicken sandwich had lots of flavor and the avocado was super ripe. I opted to get the salad instead of fries and happy I did. The salad was very fresh and crunchy! Yum! We had mimosas too and they were very tasty. The indoor area was not open the day we were there so we sat outside in the shade. Everyone seemed happy to work there which is always a plus!

My emotions are a blend of positivity and negativity regarding this place. The incorporation of original post office details and the box-shaped counter contribute to a cool design and interior. However, I noticed that the waitresses seemed stressed and irritated even at 7 am, which puzzled me. While the food was acceptable, the options for vegetarians were limited, offering only eggs or pancakes. Furthermore, the overall atmosphere did not exude a welcoming vibe. It's possible that my sensitivity played a role in perceiving the situation this way. On a positive note, the presence of a table for the sheriff department was a pleasant addition, as it provided an opportunity to interact with local individuals. They offer you a free refill of your water and hot beverage to go, which is very thoughtful and kind. Overall, I wasn't pleased with the food at this place and would not recommend going there considering the other close options.

Great restaurant with nice staff and tasty food. It’s a clean and warm place. Perfect for this raining day. 4 of us came in around 10:30. Got seated right away. Ordered egg Benedict, teriyaki sandwich, California omelette with toasts, Denver omelet with pancake. Everything was delicious.Highly recommend!

This cafe is super cute and sooo delicious. Lots of fun old post office decor. It’s a small cafe, so expect to wait a bit on a weekend especially if you have a large group! Next time we want to get there early so I can snag a spot at the front — lake facing windows! A good amount of parking and easy to spot off the road. Highly recommend checking this place out.

They open at 6:30am. Best breakfast if you plan to hit the slopes early. The staff was so friendly and nice in the morning. We had Californian omelette. It was delicious and just enough calories for the day. Pancakes 🥞 (included) were delicious!Nice atmosphere. We were very happy to be there. And best of all, it was less expensive than many other places we’d tried. Thank you!

What a wonderful little "out of towner" find! Cute as can be. Menu is lengthy. Sarah was the best server. They do have real maple syrup! Which is so important for the waffle! Trust me here.

Recommended by a passerby in Kings beach area, while we ordered some very delicious Mexican food from street off Main Street. It turned out we made a wise choice for delicious breakfast before headed home. The place was very cleaned and cozy. Services were fast and friendly. Foods were also very good and delicious. We stop by again next time we get back to this area.

Very nice breakfast place in Tahoe. We went there early in the day and the place was starting to get busy. We ordered the Benny which comes with an English muffin topped with Canadian bacon, poached egg and hollandaise sauce and comes with a side of potatoes. We also ordered the Postmasters special which comes with 3 eggs(style to be picked), choice of scone or toast, choice of sausage or links and a side of potatoes and also a short stack of Pancakes. The portions are big sized so come here hungry.

A cozy, traditional American breakfast place. We picked this restaurant for our last Tahoe trip vacation. It was during the labor day weekend. We arrived there around 10am and there was a little wait for the table. We sat in the outdoor area in the rear, which was a comfortable sitting area. The service was good and the food were good as well, nothing fancy, but taste good.Be prepared to wait at least 20 mins in the busy weekend.

Delightful waitress attentive y yet non invasive. She showed up just as we wanted something. Breakfast was deliciously fresh. Denver omelet with country potatoes , home made large light biscuit. Nice bar set up and big enough to accommodate about 20 people , using old post office boxes for decoration, natural wood bars. Big screen TV with skiing and snowboarding. I can't do this anymore so loved vicariously living this while enjoying my hot chocolate, French toast blueberries and yummy bacon. The parking was easy of the street. I definitely want to remember this place to return and try lunch out dinner. They do deserve breakfast so day though🤗. Meant to take photos but we dove in so fast to eat.

Good value for money! Food was great! Portions (full orders) were huge. Coffee was not watered down (yay!). Servers were awesome. Not as busy as it is lean season but I could imagine how this place can be packed during peak season.

Probably one of the better places to grab breakfast in the area. Lowered rating for a couple reasons, entire party had to be present before seating. The wait for food items to arrive was too long. By the time food was ordered it took 25 mins to get to our table. I’m fearful when this place gets even busier, but does have decent options to choose from.

Highly recommend the Old Post Office. It's a small cosy place, easy to reach, close to the lake, with delicious food, whether you want to have breakfast, lunch or brunch. Portions are rather big (maybe it's simply the American size, unsure).

Breakfast Potatoes were good. Omelettes were fine. Breakfast Parcel sandwich was pretty good too. They did not do dine-in on Saturday but there are a few outdoor picnic tables just behind near the parking lot where you can relax and eat.
