I have 2 guinea pigs and a chihuahua so I love going to these stores to grab what I need fast. Every now and then they may be out of a specific flavor but there are usually plenty of options so I still can get what I need.

For anyone who takes the time to read this story I urge you to PLEASE never shop at the Albany ‘Pet Food Express’ location or to do business with ‘Pet Food Express’ again. Please also remember that they are connected to Amazon as well.I purchased a new dog food brand from this location that is almost exclusively available through ‘Pet Food Express’ at the recommendation of my veterinarian. The first one and half weeks of feeding the new food to my dogs went well. However, the new batch of food that I purchased over the weekend at the Albany ‘Pet Food Express’ location left two of my dogs extremely ill to the point where they had to be rushed to the ER for treatment of symptoms which included bloody diarrhea, vomiting, lethargy, loss of appetite and labored breathing. My older dog has currently gone into what the vet believe to be renal failure and it is unknown whether she will pull through after what the vets claim to be caused from “ingesting a toxin or bacteria” in the new food that was purchased from the Albany ‘Pet Food Express.’That said, my review is in no way related to the specific product that I purchased as I have been in direct contact with the manufacturer of this particular food brand who have been very responsive and are working diligently to identity what went awry in their quality control practices leading to the toxic pet food. ‘Pet Food Express,’ on the other hand, took a very defensive and cavalier attitude regarding my concerns.This morning I called to let the manger of the Albany ‘Pet Food Express’ know that I had two dogs who required ER care as a direct result of a product that had been purchased at his location as I felt that it was the responsible thing to do so no other dogs would get sick or potentially die from consuming the same product they are selling at this location. At no time did I request a refund for the product that had poisoned my two dogs nor was I looking for any remuneration for the hefty vet bills I had incurred due to the poisonous product that their establishment had sold to me. I was simply informing them that they had sold me a product that had led to two of my dogs ending up in the ER. The manager’s response was dismissive, accusatory, and downright defiant as he cut me off and spoke over me in order to tell me in no uncertain terms that there was nothing he would do to prevent selling potentially toxic pet food to unsuspecting pet parents at this location. I am astonished that a business who caters to pets would be so callous to the suffering of pets and be so unconcerned about causing further suffering of even more pets in the future.After speaking with the ‘Pet Food Express’ customer service department after calling the store just in case the manager at the Albany ‘Pet Food Express’ was somehow not following company protocol it was made abundantly clear that ‘Pet Food Express’ as a corporation chooses profits over the health and safety of pets which is completely despicable and immoral.As an aside, if you are still not convinced that ‘Pet Food Express’ doesn’t deserve your business, please consider that their entire business model is based on opening up locations near locally owned and operated “mom and pop” pet supply stores in order to drive them out and take over their clientele. This is indeed the case at the Albany ‘Pet Food Express’ which they opened no less than three blocks away from a well-established and really wonderful pet supply store that was an asset to the community and would, without a doubt, have pulled any potential toxic pet food from their shelves immediately without hesitation.My dogs’ health is worth more than the loss of some measly profits. I had hoped that this company would just do the right thing and toss out toxic pet food before it could hurt more pets but they unequivocally do not care about you, your pets, or who they harm in the interest of turning a profit. SHAME on ‘Pet Food Express.’

Small store but knowledgeable staff. Best of all, you buy 3 of one item and get 4th free. And as I explored foods that my allergy-prone pup could eat, found out you can return what doesn't work. You can. Also take food to them to donate tolocal shelters

It's ok. Staff is a bit rigid &wouldn't offer me a discount on their pet wash even though I lost my token & had a receipt. They don't carry strollers for pets because they don't have the space & they had a 15 minute wait to use the pet wash... But they were nice & sent me a text to notify when there was an open space to wash my dog.. All in all I'm happy with their services so far & will probably come again. Oh and their location is right off the main road & convenient. I love Albany 😍💙.

Let me be clear, I don't like dogs. I think they're slobbering poop machines and attention hogs. But, my wife loves her dog. So, this location is near my work and I needed to pick something up. The staff was ridiculously cheerful and helpful. I think they really like their jobs. They had treats ready for the dogs. My only complaint would be that I didn't get a treat!

Nice place for my pet needs whenever I don’t want to drive all the way to Petco. It is a touch more expensive compare to Petco and Amazon.The bath option is nice, especially for my big dog who hates going to the groomer.

Highly recommend this store for the super nice and helpful staff! I am a new parent of a big dog who is scared of water. I tried multiple times at different days and had challenges getting him in the bath station. The staff were always warm-hearted and provided me a lot of advice. Today I stopped by again, Lindsey was very patient, friendly and helpful. We finally got the dog ready in the bath sink around 6:45pm after spending 45min comforting the dog and getting him emotionally ready. We were a bit stressful. Lindsey stayed with us till passed store closed time, brought us extra towels, and !never pushed us. We left around 7:20pm. Lindsey still need to spend time sanitizing the sink. We were so touched and so grateful.Definitely recommend this store.

Nice store. It's a little small and the food and treat selection is mostly limited to healthy and conscientiously sourced foods which can be good but only if you're not looking for bargain brands.The staff has always been really helpful with any questions we've had, and they're good to our doggy with treats and pets, but at our pup's discretion, which I think sets this place apart from other pet supply stores where the personnel approach our shy pup a little too assertively.The wash station is superb and even though it's a little pricey we've regularly purchased the 4-wash bundle because of its convenience and lovely clean dog results.

I've been a happy and satisfied customer since at least 2008 (at their former location on the corner of San Pablo and University), and it's always a pleasure to shop in this store. My cat love it, too! (When I come home with treats.) Their "buy 3, get 1 free" promotion seems to apply to EVERYTHING now! This is one of my favorite Pet Food Express locations in the Oakland area because the parking lot is large being right next to a Safeway, the staff is always friendly and helpful, and the store is clean. Bonus is I can also get my grocery shopping done at Safeway all in one stop!

I won’t shop here anymore because of the amount of times they have been entirely out of small pet hay. Once in a while being out of an item is forgivable- but being out more often than not is failing. Be dependable or be nothing.

For your dog and cat needs, Pet Food Express has a great selection, good prices, and the organization makes it easy to find what might work for a fussy old cat. The best part, really, is the staff. They've all been super helpful, knowledgeable, and had great suggestions of what might work often based on experience with their own critters. I found this true at both locations I frequented.

My Sr cat was losing wt fast. I called up the shop and asked if they had anything high protein/high calorie. Not only did they pull the cans for me but went over them with me. A week later I have a heavier Sr cat who is happy with her food. I am a customer furever. Thank you so much for the help!

My partner and I usually come here to give our dog a bath. They have a dog cleaning station. They supply everything you need and then clean up the mess we leave. the staff is always friendly, outgoing and readily available.

I love this pet store in albany. My dog lives all the different types of treats and they have goat milk. My dog Bow got kicked out of the del norte san Pablo store. My dog has bad aniexty so he's very afraid of people.
