The blonde behind the counter treated me like i was dumping my dog off and was lying about it. I'm trying to do the right thing and bring them a stray dog i found as i was taking my trash out. Installed of thinking me she talks down to me. Then she shoves the poor dog into a bathroom with no lights on. The poor dog is freaking out and she shows absolutely no compassion for him while he is freaking out. What a horrible woman.

I want to encourage others to become friends of the pets who need humans. Stop by here before going to purchase a pet in a store.If you cannot adopt a pet, donate your time or items like towels, small rugs, laundry detergent and, of course, pet food. Treat the workers to some donuts or other acts of kindness.Thanks for all that you do! Keep up the good work.

Super friendly and allowed us to get in the cages! Got a dog that was sponsored and was able to take him home for free. Also got a family member to volunteerhere as well. Great staff and great options! He was already fixed and was able to take home earlier than what was projected. We love our new addition to the family!! ❤❤❤

Officer Fox was able to help me register my dog in a matter of minutes. He brought out a kitten's for us to look at who is still undergoing treatment. And he helped me to file a complaint against my neighbor's dog who never stops barking. All with a smile and straightforward instructions as to what was necessary for the policies and the law.

NEVER EVER WILL I RETURN HERE. I drove my 8 year old daughter here from two hours away after calling to make sure the kitten she has been begging for was here. I was NEVER told any stipulations on adopting a cat other than the normal application. I looked online and it said nothing more than an application was required. We spend time with the cat my daughter falls in love with and then are told “your application looks great, but your youngest daughter who is 5 needs to be 6 in order to get a kitten”. WHY ISNT THIS ON THE WEBSITE. My mom goes in and ask if she can adopt it and keep it at her house and they say yes, so she does the paperwork. Then someone comes back and says”never mind we called the supervisor and you can’t adopt either”. There are cats being surrendered daily and wouldn’t let us get the cat although everything but a 6 month age difference was great. Thank you Sherwood Animal Shelter for breaking my daughters heart and ruining her birthday. I am so thankful we never have to deal with this place ever again.

I just want to report that a donation I sent in to the exact address shown, and was returned, marked “Return to sender. No such street. Unable to forward.” ??Seems the zip used to be 72116, but now it is 72120.I mailed it May 6, to “Sherwood Animal Shelter, 6500 N. Hills. Blvd., Sherwood, AR 72120”.

I will never contact them i called to get help for a dog who was close to death and they left it with that family the dog was found dead the next day due to dehydrated. They dont care about animals just paychecks.

THANK YOU for saving this baby! He was suffering badly and now he is getting back to himself. He comes around to eat in the morning which he has never done so he has a big appetite back already and gaining his weight back, eyes cleared up etc. I can't believe it! I trapped him and brought him in to end his pain if need be but they did so much more. He is neutered now so no more stray kittens and they treated his infection. It is indescribable to knowthere is help for these lives who can't help themselves.

We adopted a dog last year. Best thing I can say about this place is we got an awesome dog. The staff is rude, uncaring, couldn't answer a question to save their life and act as if you're wasting their "precious time" by trying to understand more about an animal. The entire shelter needs an upheaval from management to staff to the building and grounds. The City of Sherwood needs to do better.

Having issues with raccoons, talked to a lady Saturday about coming and catching them, because there fighting with my dogs. I'll be there Monday sir. That's no issue. I called this morning to see if they where come and the lady said and quote not our problem, there coming out and being aggressive with other animals and while kids play in the neighborhood.

Always friendly and extremely caring about the animals in their care. They also have program to help people feed their pets during difficult times. They made changes to their process to safely allow adoptions during the pandemic. Donations of food and treats are always appreciated.

We have adopted 2 dogs from Sherwood Shelter. We love them! They are so kind. Wonderful to work with and helped us choose dogs that fit our family. We are so grateful to them for saving our beautiful fur babies.

I adopted two cats from them last year and it was such a great experience that for our family dog we decided to go back. Well, the first grouping of people we spoke to were great but we had to bring my husband back to see if we all agreed on said dog. Well, the second grouping of desk people, I don't know what their issue was but rude would be an upgrade. Needless to say, we didn't adopt from them again.

Adopted a dog here two days later it started having seizures and when I took it back they were very rude and acted like they didn't want him. They also did not tell us anything about the dog having seizures

Took my children to visit the puppies, but they had them quarantined. They did get to pet the kittens though so it was ok.

Tried to fill out paper work for 2 kittens at 3:35. They close at 4:00. Was not allowed to. Told it was too late in the day. WHAT? Don't these cats need a home? Spent about 45 mins finding the right pair that got along. Found the perfect match. But no. REALLY? How about doing what's right for the animals.

Staff is great, except the short lady with shorter blonde hair. Past 3 yrs her attitude is always rude and mean. Someone should speak to her about her mean rude attitude. Your working with animals, not a correction facility. You don't like your job, then find one that suits your attitude. The overall experience is A+, just needs her spoke to and hopefully she can have an attitude adjustment. Even towards kids, really??

They were advertising free adoptions so my wife and I went by. As soon as I walked in there was a elderly lady dropping off a very small kitten. When I went to check out the dogs I saw a man take the kitten into a back room with a syringe of yellowish fluid. I wanted to believe that what I was seeing had an innocent explanation but after reading this shelter’s reputation I have to now think the worst. The little thing was in the building less than 10 minutes.That being said all the dogs we saw were very well behaved. We were about to adopt a girl, playful and loves other dogs, named Bessy but we were denied because we don’t have a fense. Save as many animals as you can from this “shelter.”

Rude and nasty people. I suppose only to people of color. 🤷🏽‍♀️ I was extremely ill, in and out of hospital and could not care for the precious angel I had. It was clear I was upset. The lady over the place ( I suppose ) was vile and rude. Made me aware 40.00 to leave sweet Siana. Some people have no other options. Maybe they should take into consideration. People bring animals with prayer another family will love and care for them.

Great staff and volunteers but Sherwood needs to put more money into Animal control. They need a reconstruction to this site or a new site and building all together! This is the only reason for the low star rating. As the city has grown exponentially over the 30 years I have lived here, it has done close to nothing to improve/expand the animal control department. It is time for a change!

Very nice volunteers here, but the building is in terrible need of an update. The holding area for the dogs were filthy when we last visited and the cat rooms look like something you would be kept in if you were in a SAW movie. The people are great, though.

I went in an adopted a cat the lady that helped me was very rude. The room where the kittens were kept was nasty and not great. When I left the shelter I took the kitten straight to the vet. Come to find out the kitten was not the age they said it was. Was not really ready to be away from mom. Then after all the test the kitten had ringworms. I have two young kids and another animal at home. The kittens should have been checked out before they’d leave the shelter very unprofessional and expensive. I had to pay almost four hundred and now my cat that everyone was excited to get has to be locked in a room To be quarantined from everyone for two weeks. That’s not fair to the kitten that was taken away from her mom to a strange home. I will never again get another animal here.

The people were rude. The staff did not seem interested or happy to be there at all. The kittens were too young to be adopted still being fed from mom. Would not recommend, someone should investigate.

They sold my brother a Siberian husky that had a broken leg and didn't tell him about it. Took the dog to the vet and they x-rayed his leg and he has to go to a specialist for surgery. But because the surgery cost over $5,200.00 dollars and we can't afford it. They are going to have to put him down. These people won't help to cover the cost of their mistake. These people said they are not responsible for any thing. They said if you get a bad animal from us it's your responsibility to fix the animal and they don't have to tell us anything that's wrong with the animal. This is by far the worst place to get a animal from. They are nothing but a bunch of animal abusers.

I called last tuesday for a dog that is currently been without an owner for 10 days now. Initially the sherwood police were contacted and they came to the house adding that yellow slip of paper. I was told to contact 26 Dec for a follow-up (which I obviously did) in which I was told they were still doing a wellness check. I then proceeded to call on Satursay 28 Dev and got the same answer after telling them I have been feeding and watering this dog for over a week now. It is now 30 Dec and the dog is still here so I decided to write this review. I understand that with the holidays they are probably busy,but this is pretty silly.

These people are dumb and rude I found a lost cat and they wouldn’t take the cat so now I have to let the cat loose because Sherwood animal control is too lazy to do the paperwork all because “we didn’t find the cat in Sherwood district” which is a lie, I hope the lady I was talking to today find roaches in her food for being rude to me and the lost cat…

Worst shelter I've been to. Trust me I've visited so of them over a span of 50 miles. This one is a kill shelter, which I understand, BUT they make it extra hard to adopt from them. we've adopted from Cabot, NLR, and know all the requirements to adopt from Jacksonville. This one is just rediculous.
