Owner is rude every time I’ve been in this store. Has little knowledge of animals (couldn’t tell a male and female cat apart by checking genitals) and charges literally double to prices of other places with the excuse of “can’t make any money otherwise”. Wouldn’t recommend wasting time or money here

I wish they would take care of the animals, looks like the rabbits, mice, rats, birds have lice or mites cause they are always scratching. Dirty, smells . Would be nice if Russellville would get a real pet store that takes care of the animals and sells healthy animals. Only gave 1 star because had to. Im kinda shocked they haven't been closed down by now.

I only go here to buy crickets and superworms for my beardie. They're not over priced and I know they're being gutloaded. They also live sooooo much longer than petsmart crickets!

I remember coming here as a child and having such fascination with the animals. I absolutely loved this store. What do they say “ Ignorance is Bliss”. However, After just recently visiting as an adult with some animal care knowledge. I am mortified with the condition of the animals. The animal care is abusive and neglectful. I witnessed a tank with multiple bearded dragons with tail rot or injuries sustained from cohabiting these dragons. Dragons are solitary animals. They also lacked the proper husbandry which should have included a UVB light which prevents dragons from developing MBD and also helps digest their food. The enclosure was unsanitary with large amounts of feces. Most of these babies will need vet care to amputate the rest of their tails. I can only imagine the parasites loaded in their little bellies. Which will also require vet care. Also housed in a separate tank was an older breeder dragon. He had a uvb light and a heat light but the screen lid will prohibit a lot of the uvb to penetrate through to him. The lights was not positioned in a place for him to actually bask. The heat and uvb help dragons digest their food. He also showed signs of MBD. The underbite of the bottom mouth, the curves in his tail. It was not only the dragons I witnessed poor care. I witnessed a cage of rabbits swarmed with flies. My heart is breaking for these animals. No offense to the owners, it’s not personal but most of these animals will require expensive vet care. Most of these dragons may lose their lives. Baby bearded dragons are pretty fragile.

I wish I could give negative stars. I walked in the flies and fleas were jumping. The poor rabbits had no fresh food and flies everywhere. The rat and mice containers were past full, climbing on each other. I did get a kitten because he look so sick. Took him to the vet and thankful was able to bring the life back to him. How dare a company be so spiteful to sell sick animals so they could be taken to the vet clinic they also own for profit.

My kids love going by to see the animals. They are so kind there and genuinely love the pets. They have a variety from fish to birds rabbets tranchelas scorpions cats. Bearded dragons rats ect.

A real old fashioned traditional pet store. A real old fashioned traditional tobacco and pipe shop. Real friendly people with a lot of local home bred reptiles, home bred fish and home bred mammals. Excellent prices on frozen fish food and other things and it's a really rare domestic family owned business.

The family that owns the store are friendly, I'm sure it's hard keeping the store clean,the only issues I have is the fish I spent died right away,Other wise I like them.i love the artwork that hangs on the walls,which I did back in the early 80s.

Best kept animals in town. Got a kitten from here, and is still going strong in perfect health 16 years later. Only place to get live mice for snake food. Just awesome. And the Davis family are super friendly and welcoming. Will help with all your animal questions if they have the answer.

Mixed emotion regarding this place. We love them. They're very nice and the pipe shop is my husband's favorite one here. Good price on tobacco and the pipe selection is phenomenal. They sell a good variety of clothing and shoes (used and new mixed, similar to a resale/consignment store). All the clothing I've bought have been great quality but I wish they had the option to take a card for the clothing (who carries cash?!?). Weve bought a lot of fish from them that have always lived good long lives, seem healthy upon receipt and they have a good selection. My issue is the care of thier reptiles. The tortoises look miserable; horrible pyramiding due to very poor husbandry. Kept on shavings with NO humidity and they use heat mats IN the tanks. The bearded dragons have improper humidity levels and are subsequently dried and peeled and have tail or toe nips. The amount of MBD that is surely present must be exponential. For the condition of the reptiles they want way too much. If it weren't for the reptiles care they'd be a 5 star facility!

I like the place but they are very unprofessional and when I say that I mean they will tell u a animal or reptile is one age then u find out yourself that’s it’s actually older this seems to happen to me every time I buy a reptile from them then when it comes to telling people what they need for their animal or reptile they don’t give u the details u need. And there crickets omg they are expensive bought like 12 dozen and most were dead and she still over charged me after I’ve spent more than I should have at that store do not recommend if she was more respectful and helpful in certaint ways I would recommend.

So this is a nice place to buy and care for exotic pets, but in the back where the rats are they just breed the same rats over and over in the small tanks until they die. But tell you to keep ur rats in a bigger habitat and keep them healthy yet they are abusing those animals back there. Just wow.

Awesome advice and great tank set ups. The fish look really happy compared to petsmarts fish. I have not purchased any fish yet but I have bought many supplies there and they are always giVing me very specific advice. The only thing I find a little disturbing are the tortoises they have near the back. I know they are slow moving but they don't have much room and it smells gross with flies... Other than that they are an amazing store.

Great family owned shop. Staff knowledgeable and friendly and helpful. Only reason I didn't 5 star is because of equipment and tank prices which is semi understandable since family owned, on top of the harsh conditions of some of the animals.

Wow. Never, in my 13 years of PROFESSIONAL pet care, have seen such animal abuse. Frankly, I'm impressed this place is even allowed to be open, considering the air quality (or lack thereof). The poor animals are undoubtedly addicted to nicotine (or worse!) from the hazy smoke that they waft into the building through the open door to the tobacco shop beside it. I would say that the sinful owner should be ashamed of himself for the awful treatment of the poor creatures in there, but I know he doesn't care. Any suggestions me (and a few of my colleagues from work) have begged him to consider so that at least ONE animal doesn't die is met with scoffing and harsh judgement. Visiting this store makes me think PetSmart is a wonderful place to buy from. What did these little critters do to deserve this form of torture?

Heartbreaking. I've cared professionally and personally for animals for years, worked as an aquarist, and am I wildlife biologist. This place sees their animals as product, not as living creatures. Some of their aquariums are not healthy, certainly due to improper water quality, and I would be nervous bringing those fish into my own aquarium because of it (the health issues that improper conditions can cause). They have a water dragon (common pet store lizard) in a tank that has a few inches of water in it, and a small rock to perch on. Water dragons are arboreal - they live in trees, they love to climb. Water dragons need tons of branches for climbing, with some to hide and some to bask, with a mulch substrate.... not a tank of water. This tells me they lack a fundamental knowledge of the animals they care for. There's a parrot and other birds with almost zero enrichment (puzzle feeders/toys, etc) in their environments, and for such an intelligent and social animal, that's heartbreaking. I hope they are secretly doing daily handling sessions with the parrot and perhaps training it for some enrichment, but I would be surprised. Lots of dirty cages (dead crickets and old food that haven't been cleaned out, heaps of bird poop, etc.). If animals aren't properly cared for they can develop a multitude of health problems, and if I'm looking to buy a pet, I only want one that appears to be wonderfully cared for so I can minimize the chance of my animal being sick. I hope this reaches them so they can shape the place up a little. At least put that water dragon in an arboreal environment, he is begging you!

Anyone who owns fish can tell that the tanks are in very bad conditions. Anyone that has owned any of the pets offered in this pet store can tell that little to no care is taken of the animals. It's as if the workers all decided one day that tank maintenance is too hard and they would rather let the filth build up. Most if not all of the animals are improperly cared for and most things in the store are overpriced. On top of that, the smoke shop right next door opens into the pet store and they leave it open. Which is not good for any of the animals in the shop. The store should be shut down.

Lot better than pet smart. Fast service! I buy meal worms for my bearded dragon here, and none are dead and rotten. Little more expensive, but the fast service makes up for it. Plus the worms are not dead, unlike the ones from pet smart hit and miss with them. Shop here for crickets and worms if you need live ones.

I wish I could rate lower than a one star. The animals in this store are in such heartbreaking conditions. The smell in the store alone could kill my dog. I purchased a guinea pig not too long ago, and was told it was in perfect health. The same day I bought it, I took it to a vet and found it had ringworms, as well as early stages of scurvy. Davis pet store also told me the guinea pig was 6 months old, however, the vet said it certainly seemed older, closer to a year old. I would never recommended this smoke shop that thinks it can sell animals and overpriced animal products to folks. You’re better off going to petsmart or Walmart.

How this store is open is completely beyond me. Can’t tell if all the positive reviews on here are made by the owner on other accounts or if people are reviewing the wrong place because anyone with experience with animals can tell you how inhuman the conditions here are. I hope everyone enabling this feeling nothing but shame.

I go here to buy cigars pipes pipe tobacco lighters and my kids get the hang out next door at the pet shop. The Davis Family are fantastic people I honestly would not trust somebody if they said otherwise.

They had good selection of rodent varieties and sizes the only draw really was the transport container he used for two large rats it was a mountain dew box taped. It made me nervous about traveling with them that way

This place is so terribly dirty. As soon as you walk in all you can smell is the beyond dirty cages. I walked through the rats/hamsters/birds room and there was flies EVERYWHERE. The glass cages was absolutely filthy. And many over the cages was overcrowded and barely any food. And there is black mold on the back right corner. I just had to leave that room. Then I went to see the reptiles, it wasn’t any better in there. Broken hamster cages in the floor along with cob webs and dead insects... this is very unhealthy living conditions for the many animals that are there ☹️
