I had lunch at Low Gap Cafe in Jasper today. It’s a convenient location close to the square with plenty of parking. The food was great- all dishes were well prepared , fresh and hot. My table ordered the Monte Cristo sandwich , the brisket sandwich and the chicken fried steak dinner. The portions were large and the ladies took home left overs for dinner. The men managed to eat almost every bite of their meals which was quite an accomplishment considering the size of the chicken friend steak! Everyone agreed the food was delicious and our server was very friendly and helpful. Two of us managed to save room for dessert and we both ordered the lemon blueberry cake which was very light and a wonderful combination of fresh, citrusy flavors. We will definitely return to Low Gap Cafe when we are in the area. I almost forgot to mention the biscuits that come before your meal but we could have made a meal out of then they were so delicious. Very light and fluffy, it was hard to eat just one.

Visiting Jasper for the first time, and had read great reviews about the Low Gap Cafe so my husband and I stopped in for dinner tonight. We were promptly greeted by a female host/server at the door, and were seated at a table on the left side of the restaurant. We perused the menus we were given when we were seated. We both decided on what to order and were patiently waiting for a server to come take our order when we noticed that the servers had their hands full working hard and working quickly to take care of a nearly full restaurant. We noticed that there appeared to be only two women, one who had also been the host that seated us, doing their absolute best to handle the entire dining room. We had been seated about 15 minutes when a gentleman in a chef’s jacket who I can only assume was the owner, stopped by our table on his way to another table, leaned in toward myself and said “YOU can expect a LONG WAIT, that’s why there’s a sign at the front that says YOU need to WAIT TO BE SEATED”, before quickly moving on to a table behind us. My husband and I were so stunned and bewildered that we didn’t say anything just looked at one another in complete confusion! As we HAD been seated!! When he finished at the table behind us and began to walk toward us again, I called to him “Excuse me, Sir? Sir?” and he simply walked right on by never acknowledging us. At that point, we picked up our things and left.A restaurant can have great food, but talking to customers like we were spoken to tonight, completely ruins one’s appetite. We visited the Ozark Cafe instead where we were served a prompt and delicious dinner while we listened to live music, and were taken care of by kind and attentive servers who went above and beyond at every turn- even noticing us taking a selfie out front and came out of the restaurant and offered to take the perfect photo!

Great food, very friendly staff. They squeezed us in on a very busy night, we had fish tacos and mushroom with rice pilaf, it was absolutely delicious. Enjoyed a complementary dessert when they heard we were celebrating a birthday. Save room for dessert!Vegetarian options: Very delicious

What happened to Low Gap?! We had lunch today at 2:30, Friday. Very poor service. But the food!!! My order if a shrimp basket 5 medium sized breaded shrimp and a sparse handful of COMMERCIAL FROZEN DRIED OUT FRIES! My husband ordered a burger and got the same inedible fries!!!! A $15 shrimp basket!!! We ate at the original location from the opening date. Food was ***** in the early days. The quality declined over the years and we had hopes it would return. This is a pathetic play for the tourist dollar.

I don’t think I’ll come back to the low gap and it’s a big bummer for me.We’ve been thrice. Once at the old location, twice at the new.The first time, I ordered a seafood pasta which left me wanting. I figured this was an off day. There were no other customers in the restaurant- maybe that should have been a clue. The second time, the new location did not have the fryer open and what we had was fine, but not the chef driven meal I was expecting. This last time was the straw that broke the camels back. We went for Valentine’s Day and ordered the pre-fixe menu. No prices were on the menu. This was my fault for not asking. The meal consisted of: scallops, salad with tuna tartare, soup, beef Wellington, and pistachio truffles. The price- $299/2 people. With tax, tip, and the lovely credit card fee that they pass on to customers, it was $401 for two people without alcohol. To give you an idea: there’s nothing special here besides the food. For the price charged, I would have expected at least a cheap white tablecloth and some glasses. Instead we drank out of commercial Pepsi cups and had to look up the menu to remember what everything was. No one explained the food. We never saw the chef. The scallops were undercooked and the so was the beef Wellington. Both me and my partner have been blessed to eat at some wonderful restaurants. This price was not worth it.I was in shock at the sticker price. I asked my sister to call and confirm price, as there would be a Friday seating. She was told that they didn’t even know the price and they were still figuring it out because they ran out of cream spinach (really?) this is the cheapest part of the meal and easy to make. This shouldn’t be a problem and they should know the price before service. What should have been a wonderful special treat felt like highway robbery.

We stopped here after a day of hiking and site seeing, I have been wanting to try this place for years. While it looks pretty bad from the outside, everything is good on the inside. The menu for a place like this blew me away. I had the calamari for appetizer and was not the best, to much breading and to little calamari. However the cheese, bacon burger was excellent. The apple pie was very good. Service was excellent.

We had someone recommend this place, what it lacks in looks, it makes up in the taste of the food. I had a pasta dish, can't remember the name but it was good even though I'm not a pasta fan (why do I pick dishes like this when I'm not a pasta fan?). Hubby picked chicken fried something (?) with mashed potatoes and veggies. We both shared so we could try some of each. His was even better. Ice tea was delicious. We ate outside on the patio, much quieter and better ambiance! I'd definitely give it a try, it's a little pricey but thought it was really good!

Drove over from Fayetteville on a beautiful Sarurday to see some foliage and maybe an elk or two and grab lunch at Low Gap. Best decision in a LONG time. They were packed. Had a private party but shuffled everyone in well and the wait was short. The food was amazing. Great Chicken Fried Steak. Like really great. Also, blackened redfish. In LOW GAP! Great burgers and sandwiches too. (Check out this lovely Monte Cristo!) Everything was solid A+! Highly recommend!

The finest hidden dining experience in all of Arkansas. My partner and I visited Low Gap for our anniversary two weeks ago. Having been tipped off by the kind lady at the Scenic Point in Jasper, we decided we would give it a try. There seemed an awful lot of seafood on the menu, but when a local knows, you just go.What we experienced was an unparalleled level of culinary expertise, brought about by our incredibly personable chef, Tim. I received the thickest, prettiest, most delicious salmon I've ever eaten in my life, placed as a centerpiece atop a bed of rice, and easily the freshest vegetables I've had in years. If I could've made a drink of the sauce drizzle on top, I would have.My partner received an equally stunning cajun shrimp pasta, and this is NOT Chili's quality. Massive gulf shrimp, a dangerously large portion of penne pasta, and a healthy portion of seasoned sausages created a dish that would put the finest New Orleans eateries to shame. The urge to steal half her plate crossed my mind more than once. There were no other guests surrounding us. This was an exquisite, artfully designed meal in a building so quaint you can easily coast past it as you're glancing at the surrounding treeline. With the help of our brilliant, friendly, and honest server Whitney, our anniversary was made perfect by a team that was willing to befriend us, give us their finest efforts in what is clearly the off-season, and give us the most memorable dinner of our vacation. It's going to be difficult to make any pass through Arkansas without making an evening out of Low Gap Cafe in Jasper. In fact — we may just never miss a chance. Perfect dining is hard to come by... but not here. Here, it's just another Wednesday. Thanks Low Gap!

Local spot that was fun. Service was good and it was neat watching the cooks cook the food. I felt it was overpriced for the quality of food. My friend got the rib eye steak. It was cooked correctly, but fell short for the quality of a 30ish dollar steak. I heard the waitress tell another table the mashed potatoes were homemade. They were bland, thick(and I like thicker mashed potatoes), and just an over all pass for me. What was great, was their veggies. They were cooked well and seasoned well. I got the country fried steak. It was crispy and good. Was it the best I have ever had? No. I am going to take a guess, but I bet their catfish is really good. I seen a few go out and that would be a local thing. I was just never a lover of catfish. If our meals were$18-20, I would say...both are worth the money. But not at the price they charge.

I loved this place! For starters it is a beautiful drive up the mountain to a quaint little place. The chef was just amazing and very friendly. Ee had the squash soup, which was to die for!! The steak with horseradish sauce was deliciousWe were recommended by a friend and will definitely be back when we are in that part of the country. So worth the drive up the mountain!!!

One of the best salmon salads I've ever had. A group of four of us ate there this afternoon, one couple had the Diane Steak, my wife had the shrimp salad and I had the salmon salad. The presentation is excellent, the taste was excellent, and the service was excellent.

Do yourself a favor and just go eat at Ozark Cafe up the road. 2 of us stopped in Saturday night to have dinner, half the tables empty. They seemed under staffed for the evening and the atmosphere seemed like everyone was on edge. After standing there for about 3 minutes waiting for someone to add us to the waitlist, a lady came up and acted like we were a nuisance for even coming through the door. She was very hateful and seemed like she hated her job. After that short interaction I refuse to give service to someone who doesn’t even want it so we left. Everyone at Ozark Cafe was very friendly, helpful and thankful to have our business. Food was excellent there also, I will not go back to Low Gap with the poor service and attitudes.

Drove over to this place from a neighboring town based strictly off reviews. So glad we did. Every thing we ordered was amazing. Fried fish, Vodka pasta, Chicken fried steak and homemade chicken strips for the little one. Homemade rolls served before the entrees and the ranch dressing has to be homemade. This place doesn't look impressive, but the meals certainly are. Read the story on the front of the menu..... guy has street cred.

Great little hole in wall place to eat near Jasper. This is a small place with a few tables and a big reputation. My first time there I was left wanting more…. I mean the service was great, the ambiance was great, but the food was a little lack luster.I ordered the 10oz ribeye with the Cesar salad. The salad….. the salad was brought out very quickly. Once I saw it I was like why in the heck is there an up charge of $2.50 to get this option over the regular salad. The salad wasn’t bad, but I was expecting maybe a homemade dressing with a little more taste. My ribeye was cooked perfectly and had good flavor. The downside was that it was a tough piece of meat. Lot of chewing involved. Was hoping for a better quality meat. Veggies were cooked perfectly, the few bites of potatoes were pretty good not great. Cheese biscuits were light and flavorful. Will go back and try another option next time.

Awesome place! We ordered Red Snapper and Lamb Chops and everything was absolutely delicious!!! Staff was very friendly and accommodating, and chef Nick came to check on us multiple times to make sure everything was to our liking. Gorgeous drive to the restaurant from Missouri is a huge bonus to our experience! We’ll definitely be back! Thank you!!!

Food is always excellent here. Ambience is lacking. This is a very loud place. It's usually crowded. Service is friendly and fast. Meals are pricey. My friend shrimp dinner (seven shrimp, fries, three hush puppies) cost $20+ Recommended.

A regular stop for us when we visit Arkansas. A beautiful ride/drive in the Ozarks, and good food, great service for a well deserved break. I've had the burgers, shrimp, and deserts to die for. They will even let you order off the kid's menu if you aren't overly hungry. Friend and Family recommended. If you are in the area give it a try today!

Unassuming on the outside, but awesome staff and food on the inside! Loved everything about it. Yeah, its a $15 hamburger - so don't order it and get one of the other amazing dishes!!! Oh, and the pumpkin pie was the best I've ever had.

I’ll start by saying the food tasted good. However, the atmosphere, employees, and portions did not equal the ridiculous prices. We walked in to a chef throwing a massive tantrum in the kitchen. Cussing, kicking and slamming things. Sat down and ordered an appetizer. 11.95 for 8 little catfish bites. A $13 burger plus 12 french fries and a salmon salad for dinner that left us hungry. Then you are charged a service fee to pay via card. Honestly, I wish that I had driven the extra miles to Jasper to the Ozark Cafe or somewhere else.

If you’re short staffed for someone “quitting their job” isn’t it managements responsibility to get said shifts covered before you run into this problem? Sounds like excuses to me. Had the same issue this previous weekend. Food in past is great, but obviously the real problem is the management here. I have grace for the service, but cannot get past the rude management. Sorry for trying to have a conversation and being a nuisance to your business.
