I went in on 1/24 with the idea of adopting a cat and I had a great experience with Good Shepherd Humane Society. They were super kind and patient with me while I met all the cats, and took some time to get to know them all. They answered all of my questions and made it easy to pay and get all of her paperwork. They had all of her vaccines taken care of and had this sweet girl spade and ready to go home. I got lucky and ended up with the sweetest and happiest cat that is so happy to be home, but I can tell that she was well cared for while at their shelter.When I took her to the vet a few days after they said she was in great health with the exception of ear mites, but that is not a big issue for me. I came up from Fayetteville since I wanted a shelter with a lot of options, and I will happily do it again when it is time to rescue another pet!

Great place to adopt a forever friend. Good Shepherd kennels were super clean and full of happy healthy animals excitedly waiting to give an abundance of unconditional love to brighten someone's life. Good Shepherd worked with us at every point in adopting our goofy boy Charlie, that has touched our lives and already became part of the family.

I am so happy that I adopted from Good Shepherd. Astéri (fka Tropicana) could not be a better fit! Though she required an extended period of isolation at the shelter (8 mo., I think, as she is not friendly with other pawed critters this made her hard to adopt), it is clear that she got plenty of love and affection from the humans there. I owe a debt of gratitude to the staff and volunteers who kept her safe and friendly.Thank you, Good Shepherd! 💜

They have been very helpful. We have had so many stray cats dumped in the past few months. I don't understand how people can be so thoughtless. We are having to pay hundreds of dollars to take care of this problem. The shelter is doing what they can to help. Over 8 adults 3 were pregnantSome have been killed by the wild animals.The people who are dumpling this cats need to be stopped. They need to take care of the responsibility for their own animals.

I am so proud of our No-kill shelter! They take wonderful care of the animals and include enrichment time. They also distribute pet food to those in need. Their spay and neuter program is awesome and very affordable. Best of all, they let me adopt the sweetest kitty in the whole world. ♥️

They do great work , but the big problem is trying to get pets scheduled for Spay and Neuter clinic. Wished more Veterinarians would help with creating more available. Thank you

These folks are the best! They helped me rescue two feral kittens, took them in, and fixed them up for adoption. They hold low and no cost spay or neuter clinics, as well as discounted shots programs. They really care and it shows.

Called and expressed interest in a puppy they had attempted to put a deposit down over the phone until I could make the 5 hour drive from st.Louis was told I had to meet the dog first I drive all the way there for him to have been adopted by another person. Felt like a huge waste of time

Me and my family went to visit them the 5th of July, 2021. Very much enjoyed the customer service and all the staff members. We got to see some handsome dogs who all deserve the best homes! We actually are planning to visit again to check out their cats plus their dogs again. I LOVE the way they take care of their animals and know each one so well! My daughter loved them all and I never was scared of one hurting her. I've been to a bigger shelter and was saddened by what I saw.But this shelter deserves more than 5 stars. I enjoy them so much and plan to adopt from them if possible. Thank you all so much for what you do! Its worth the hour drive!

We Adopted, Pearl.. a Siberian Husky. I have been to several shelters and this experience was by far AMAZING and the best I have ever seen! The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. I couldn't ask for a better shelter... just more like Good Shepherd. I see us visiting again if we ever adopt another fur baby.

We just adopted two more cats and highly recommend GSHS. We have adopted several dogs and cats over the years, it had been about 8 years since we were there yesterday. We were very impressed with the cleanliness and organization of the new management. You just keep improving, keep up the good work.

They do great work, but with that being said they make it almost impossible to adopt an animal from them. I ended up spending an extra $185 on top of the $95 adoption fee just to rescue our dog that we got. It's crazy the stuff that they require for you to have in order to adopt an animal and give it a good home. But all in all are Pooch is doing great, loving her new home and is very happy to be out of the Humane Society.

This is the Best organization. Clean and humane, a no kill shelter. Manager and staff are very focused on the best possible care for these orphaned fur babies. Donate, foster, or even walk the dogs for a couple hours for this worthy organization.

I have to say the staff could use a little work on their customer service skills. They were not very friendly and not very helpful. When I showed interest in a dog no one offered for me to take it out of the cage and get to know the dog. The goal is for the animals to be adopted. Help people with that process.
