I wanted to share my recent experience at this Petco location with you. I have been taking my dog to Petco for grooming for her entire life (she's 4) and have never had any issues until now.I recently moved and decided to try a Petco that is closer to my home. I made an appointment at this location and was shocked to receive a call from the groomer the day before my appointment, saying that my dog was too difficult and always matted, and that she was referring her to a vet for grooming. This was completely untrue and I have never heard anything like this from any of the other Petco locations.I decided to cancel my appointment and call the last Petco location where my dogs been groomed for the last year and the manager confirmed that they did not have any notes in my dog's chart stating that she was difficult or severely matted. The only bad notes in her file was from the groomer that called me from this location and she's never seen my dog.I would strongly advise against going to this location. I've NEVER had an issue with Petco grooming until now. It's clear that this particular employee has a problem and I hope that corporate takes action to address it.

Today I was trying to save a female dumbo betta with a blind eye. I asked for a discount. The manager disagreed and was going to treat it for a week and then sell it. I know that’s not the case and their fish always dies. I asked to reconsider my rescue to accept a blind fish, she then got upset and removed the 30 day guarantee without a discount. I was devastated and ended up not buying the poor fish.

Most of the time they are stocked up with my dogs food. Now they are charging us .10 cents per plastic bag. It's ok with me, I bring my own bag to carry our bought cans of dog food in. I take my dogs there for vaccines and buy their special food . The staff is always caring and resourceful.During Christmas we had the pleasure to take our pets to Petco and they took pictures with Mrs. Claus. That was awesome. Maybe for Easter they can take a picture with a bunny .

Friendly place and employees but really shouldn't be offering reptiles like Leopard Geckos and Bearded Dragons. They cohabit them with inferior lighting, improper substrate and are very malnourished in appearance. I have to look away everytime I go in there to pick up supplies. It's very heartbreaking and I wish there was something I could for them but unfortunately there isn't.. please, it you're reading this...do better by them helpless creatures that didn't ask to be born into a market.

We bought our son a hamster and had no clue of what we needed or how to care for it and the young lady working was a really big help and set us up with everything we needed and gave us some tips on care Awesome Job thank you for all your help

Store manager at the Rio Salado location in Mesa, Donna I believe is her name was very rude and dismissive. But the associate (guy) that helped me was absolutely amazing! One item I was trying to purchase for the turtle we got was in the wrong place and instead of honoring it she blamed the customer(me) for not reading the sku numbers as if I work there… Completely cluttered and she needs to be retrained on better service.

Great store the staff is very kind and helpful. Prices are good, I have a new kitten and I got her all spoiled with toys and set up at home including food, litter box ( that came with food and water dish) litter, collar and her dewormer all for under 60.00!!!!

Every time I come here it seems I’m waiting 10+ minutes for the person in front of me to get processed, the past couple of times there’s usually nobody at the register. The products I usually buy are hardly ever restocked and are not that niche ie. cat supplies. Service like this will ensure people shop online instead of actually coming in to shop

Jamie in the grooming salon is great!! Lucy (our dog) had a very nervous time there at her previous visit, and I would understand if she wasn’t invited back. Jamie offered to give her a second chance, and made her a special project. We were back there today, and it was a completely different story! Jamie was patient and firm, and Lucy was calm and cool.This was a great experience!!

I got the little kids all ready and finally wrangled them to the store (no easy task) and got them all excited about us getting a goldfish. We'd gotten the tank all ready at home few days before and went here to pick one out. My daughter got all excited and picked one that she liked. We went to the counter just to be told that the fish section was "closed" and that no one had the time to get a fish out for us because they were understaffed. I was the only customer in line and there were only 2 or 3 other customers in the store. Lame! Will never come here again because how am I supposed to know when they will happen to have enough staff to take 5 minutes to get us a fish??

I am not going to ramble, I think the pictures speak for themselves. This is the worse grooming experience my dog has ever had. Whether, or not my dog was snippy during the grooming, I believe this could have been handled differently before it led to nicks and bald spots all over.

This Petco is a little cluttered but they actually take really good care of their small animals. I'm always impressed at the husbandry of the tarantulas here and the head manager Donna takes great care of them.

CLOSES AT 8PM - HOURS ARE NOT UPDATED ON GOOGLE. I drove miles to this specific location since Google listed this as the only location that closes at 9PM - I should’ve known better or called beforehand, should’ve read the reviews that also mention inaccurate store hours, but I put good faith in assuming correct/updated hours and addresses on Google maps. Upon arrival, locked doors and hours on window read that they close at 8PM, not 9PM.This location has a hard time keeping items in stock. Not to mention the cat and smaller pets/reptiles section is incredibly small. It’s the smallest one I’ve ever seen inside of a Petco. The dog section takes up the majority of this store. After several visits of being disappointed, and seeing written signs on the door that read, “Closed to unforeseen circumstances” I have decided to drive further away to another Petco location that has what I need in stock and is open for business.

My puppy had an accident while I was in the front of the store and I asked where the cleaning supplies were and the employees at the training place were so rude to me! very passive aggressive about it and quite literally stared at me while I was cleaning my dogs mess, like can I help you? I dropped my dogs leash (store was empty and she wouldnt run) and the employee picked it up and spooked my dog so she barked (which is understandable) and then the lady at the training station has the audacity to tell me “i hope your dog doesnt do this at home” GIRL we are in a pet store and she is a puppy! needless to say I left right after and I will not be returning nor recommending this place to anyone.

Took my dog for grooming here and they told me everything went smoothly, they didn't bring up any issues, they even said my dog behaved fine that he was "such a good dog"Then when visiting relatives in California I decided to take my dog to another Petco to get groomed while we were out here the California Petco canceled my appointment because the Mesa, AZ Petco flagged my dog as "aggressive" and "needing a mussel"None of which was ever mentioned to me.Very upset at Petco for not mentioning it to me or giving me any sort of heads up that I wouldn't be able to take him to Petco grooming anymore.

The ppl in the store are amazing. The store is nice and clean. However my app is malfunctioning has been for over 6months everything on it is. I go to load my pals rewards and they disappear into thin air. It happened right in front of the cashier this time so she called customer service to get them to add them back and the lady said to her "you mean the one's that have expired" because I tried telling them before that it did the exact same thing and they told me ohh yea that's because they expired when only $10 had expired and I've lost like $60 because they have dispenser when I go to load them.
