My go to exotic clinic is Arizona Exotic Animal Hospital in Tucson…They’re AMAZING! My guinea pig needed a CT Scan due to a bladder stone and I was referred to the Mesa location. I drove down from Tucson with my Guinea pig. It was our first time here… the staff was very friendly and welcoming. The doctor was friendly and knowledgeable. She explained things to me with patience and took her time to listen and answer all my questions. The doctor even called me after the procedure was done to let me know my little boy was doing well. When the results came in, I received a friendly call from the doctor explaining the results in depth. She was very helpful throughout the entire process. My overall experience was very positive, thank you!

Gizmo suffered injuries due to a dog attack and the staff was very kind and made me feel like gizmo was in good hands. They are knowledgeable in rabbits and that can be hard to find! I trust them with my Gizmo. Tranquility Trails rabbit sanctuary recommended me to Arizona exotic and I have not been disappointed the times I’ve been to the Mesa and phx location. Gizmo is still in good spirits and on play pen rest while he heals up. To the reviews complaining about price - they tell you upfront the cost and will go over it with you and never make you feel uncomfortable and will help try to lower it if need be. And of course it may cost a little more because they are specialized in exotic animals which requires more training and knowledge especially given that many times these exotic animals don’t have as much medical technology and research as dogs/cats.

Arizona Exotic animal hospital is so professional, knowledgeable, and very friendly. My little guinea pig, Hannah, had the best loving care with Dr. Lewis. I couldn't have asked for more!Hannah's doctor was Dr. Taylor Lewis, who is absolutely fantastic! Dr. Lewis removed a mass and ovaries. Hannah was in exceptional hands! I have been to the Phoenix and Mesa offices for Dr. Lewis to care for Hannah. We drove down from Chino Valley. I recommend her to anyone needing a Vet.Thank you 😊

I appreciate the staff at AZEAH, they are compassionate and knowledgeable. My ferrets see Dr. Lewis, and I am very happy with the care they receive. Brandon is a very kind and caring staff member as well. I am able to get an appointment when needed, and contacting the office is easy via phone or email.

The staff and Doctors at Arizona Exotic Animal Hospital are very friendly and professional. I've been going to Dr Lamb in Phoenix for years and it's always been a great experience. She's very compassionate and thorough!! Today I brought Sebastian in for his wellness check and RHDV2 vaccine, I had Dr Pilney and he was wonderful too. Dr Pilney was a very good listener and he took the time to ask me about my other rabbits, which was really nice!! I give 5 stars to the staff and Doctors at Arizona Exotic. Here's Sebastian (black/white) back home with his BFF Bodie.I sure wish you had a location further North in the Verde Valley, maybe someday 😁

Everyone at the office on Center street Mesa, was very nice and helpful. They answered all my questions and made sure I had information on how to make my habitat better for my baby and even answered questions about my other baby at home. They made sure I knew what I was doing for recovery before going home. Being very upfront and honest and making me and my baby comfortable at our appointment.

My canary Feather had an issue with the leg id band. It was coming loose and bothered him. The vet said the metal bands are more difficult to remove and there may be problems. The team got the band off safely and Feather made it through the procedure and is now a happy bird. Many thanks to all.

These people killed my guinea pig over a “misunderstanding”. Front desk people put an appointment in to wait two weeks to get his eye removed when it was supposed to be 2 days, after the surgery i took him home he only lasted a day then died in my arms. We rushed over to the vet and still made us pay for everything. He had at least 5 years left. I understand it was a misunderstanding but that doesn’t matter when a life is on the line. Will never come here again.

I had $50 credit that I kept on their books so that when I needed to schedule an appointment I knew that the deposit would be taken care of already. I called around 9:00 am and was lucky to to schedule an appointment for 3:00 the same day. Ironically moments after the call ended my ferret awoke and cleared his bowels (my concern was a possible blockage) and he seemed okay so I called to cancel about 40 minutes after my initial call which they asked the reason why and I explained. I was then advised I was forfeited my deposit due to not canceling within 24 hours even though I did not have any opportunity to do so. I was also advised that my request to not have the money forfeited would be messaged to the manager and which I might or might not be given a call back. I wasn't hostile I wasn't irate. I was dumbfounded and silent then pleaded my case. I did my best and my due diligence to communicate and not waste anyone's time. I have lost 1 ferret in the last year due to sepsis while recovering from a blockage removal surgery. I had to have my cat hospitalized and then ultimately euthanized due to congestive heart failure, a few months ago I had another ferret euthanized after his insulinoma progressed in a matter of only months and a couple of weeks ago my cat was diagnosed with kidney disease. I'm not irresponsible and don't understand why or where their stipulation is that if you do get an appointment in under 24 hours it'll cost whether you are seen or not. Now I'm bummed as I really did respect and appreciate my ferrets veterinarian but to not even receive a call back and eff off we're keeping the deposit anyway is highly unprofessional and saddens me deeply. My animal family members are my life and finding another doctor for my last remaining baby horrifies me knowing the vast amount of health issues they encounter and now being extremely hesitant to reach out if and when he does need care is a whole other trauma. It is only $50 dollars but the numerous thousands of dollars in the past year spent is tough to swallow.

We were very grateful to have had the opportunity to bring our Leopard Tortoise for a check-up on a weekend. The vet and tech were very thorough and patient. This was our first visit, and we were extremely impressed. Thank you for your knowledge, thoroughness and concern.

My daughter's bird become ill suddenly on Sunday morning and Arizona Exotic was very good. Unfortunately they were unable to save my daughters bird but they handled the situation with the upmost respect and I appreciated that. They also scheduled an appointment right away for our other bird to be checked out for any illness. We will be using them as our primary vet from now on.

The emergency doctor on staff, DR. THULSON is not only incompetent but she also admitted to not providing my animal with the necessary care to save his life. And I quote "I probably should have pumped the air out of his stomach first thing". My rabbit was ill with bloat and typically, according to multiple papers published in veterinary care journals, pumping the air out of their stomach is the first line of treatment that is most effective at keeping the bunny alive long enough to start to recover. The emergency doctor, DR. THULSON, didn't do what they knew they needed to in order to save my rabbits life. My rabbit died within the first 6 hours home from her care and she didn't even have the decency to follow up on his death. She even told me he was doing better when I brought him home and she felt "confident" in his ability to recover. ANY other vet would have called, emailed, and texted me their condolences but I received NO RESPONSE from her in anyway. I will never go back to this vet, especially for emergency services.

I had an emergency over the holiday weekend with my guinea pig and made the decision to come to this emergency vet. First of all I was at this facility for about 4 hours. Becuase I didn’t have an appt I of course knew it would be a wait but 4 hours? Once you hand off your animal to them, you’re not able to see them again until the payment is processed. Just knowing that my pig was sitting back there not even being seen by the staff. They also openly come to the waiting room (no matter how many other people are there and will openly deliver sad news to you in front of everyone). Lastly, the price - they quoted me $1300 just to diagnosis him. They were definitely playing on emotions, kept telling me how much pain he was in. I knew he wasn’t, their diagnosis covered everything you could imagine. It was crazy. They wanted to put him under which is so risky for small animals, that should be a worse case scenario. I also thought it was funny they made me sign an AMA. I just took my pig to his normal vet and what do you know, none of what that doctor diagnosed or recommended was necessary. I walked out of there spending $500 just on blood and fluids. Unreal. This place is a scam. Do not come here or trust them with your animals. As I was in the waiting room I obviously heard them trying to scam other people as well. Seems like their usual quote to people is around 1200-1300$. Wonder if that’s a quota for them.

I brought my hedgehog to see Dr. Taylor Lewis numerous times because my hedgehog was having extremely odd symptoms. I brought her here three times about the same symptoms and Dr. Taylor Lewis would write it off as nothing serious and sent me on my way with doing almost nothing and prescribing one pathetic medication that didn’t do a thing for my hedgehog’s symptoms. I would send emails asking about food diet recommendations and other questions since that’s what the vet herself recommended for my hedgehog’s symptoms and I never got any help and never saw any improvements with my hedgehog. I finally got fed up with this vet shrugging it off and went to another vet who found multiple tumors and all of her internal organs were enlarged. We had no choice but to put her down so she wouldn’t suffer more than she already was. I don’t know if anything would have changed if Dr. Taylor Lewis had found the tumors early on or if my hedgehog would still be gone today, but the fact that she managed to miss it through multiple examinations when the other vet could palpate and feel the tumor because it was so large makes me question Dr. Taylor Lewis’ abilities and if she even cares about animals at all. I would not recommend bringing your pet to this place if they’re showing odd symptoms or even for a regular checkup because your pet could have cancer and you may lose your pet because this vet won’t care to find out what’s wrong and will shrug off the symptoms that may start showing up.

The care given at this facility is of excellent quality and the staff is very obviously passionate and dedicated to the animals they care for. They are compassionate and honest with pet owners, and do all they can to give your pet the absolute best. The caring and wonderful staff makes this the best choice for your pet’s care.

I cannot express enough how much I love this place. Each time they've taken not only an extreme caring interest in my rat babies, but the condition of me and my mother as well. Professional, extremely thoughtful, extremely caring, on top of everything. What's more, I just received a lovely hand-written sympathy note for my passed babies, and I can feel the sincerity in it.Thank you so much, you guys. I'll be back again when I have another mischief of rats.

I’ve been here three times, and each time the experience has been thoughtful, kind, informative and supportive. I take my bearded dragon here and have received a treatment each time. I have left each time feeling like my dragon was getting informed care.Don’t be afraid to ask questions, especially if you’re seeking a specific test or treatment. They will work with you and help answer any concerns you have if you voice them.I wish there was another location further East, as I would recommend this vet to anyone in my neck of the woods. Kind techs, doctors, and they love bearded dragons 🦎😊

Our Guinea Pig needed urgent care and they let us come bring her in to be looked at. They took great care of her and loved on her. Rosie is the best! She was so personable and sweet and loved on our pet as if it was her own. It was a long night but everyone was so sweet and we got to take home a much happier GP. Thank you everyone! We will return if more vet care is ever needed.

I brought my new rats in when they showed signs of respiratory illness, and I was so pleased by the kindness and attentiveness everyone here showed them. With covid and not being able to go in with them, I was very anxious, but all of the nurses and the doctor were extremely nice and reassuring, and the summary they printed up for me before we left was detailed and gave me every bit of information I was concerned about missing. The vet discussed my options with me prior to treatment and offered estimates before I made my decisions, and the nurses were kind enough to show me how to administer the medicine to my babies. I'm immensely grateful for their skill and kindness in a time when I was so worried. I 100% recommend this clinic for your exotic animal care, and Phobos and Deimos are grateful for them!

Our bunny was not doing well. When we brought her in everyone was so compassionate and patient with us as we decided to have her put to sleep. We were able to stay with her and pet her until the end. Thank you, you all are very professional. This was at he Tucson Office.

Heartless. Don't go here. They don't care about people. No compassion. I was 11 minutes late. I tried my best. Rushed from work (30 mins drive) with my pet. When I arrived I pleaded my case. Asked them to please reconsider. I had to take an emergency break from work and then rush back. It was the only time I had this week for my pet to be seen. I told them kindly that I can't afford $50 late fee on top of $84 visit fee. Dr lamb didn't care. She was busy with another animal and would have been late to my appointment anyway. I started to cry at their heartlessness. The receptionists didn't seem to care and neither did Dr lamb. I had no choice but to leave without treatment. I am not a new client. But I can't afford the $50 fee for being 11 minutes late due to extenuating circumstances. In a time where the economy is tough for the average person and kindness is needed most since post covid pandemic. This vet & animal clinic has lost its heart and compassion. Please, look elsewhere for vets and staff that treat you with compassion and care.EDIT: in response to your update. No, you are not sorry. So please don’t lie. You showed me no concern or empathy on the day. You are heartless to clients that have been with your practice for years. No, I was not informed about a late fee of $50. And that’s what I was told by reception. That it WAS a late fee. For you to never look at a clients past impeccable history with the clinic and extenuating circumstances tells me you are a heartless practice. No compassion or care for people. I will recommend to all friends, family and people reading this to go to other more compassionate vets and clinics.

The moment I walked into Arizona Exotic Animal Hospital on 19th Ave I felt very comfort bringing in my little Lola. The waiting room is clean and the front office staff was very pleasant. Once we were in an exam room we were greeted by a friendly tech asking all sort of question regarding Lola. It was nice knowing she was taking time to get to know us and Lola. When Dr. Lamb came in, she was nice and comforting regarding the information that was passed to her from the tech which implies there is great communication between the Dr. and staff. She took her time examining Lola explaining everything along the way and the possible issues regarding hedgehogs. She answered all my questions from food to her having mites. Ugh!!!! It was nice to know that we weren't rushed in and out. Why was this so important? I am a dental office manager and find Dr. patient communication very important and this office has it. Would I recommend Arizona Exotic Animal Hospital ABSOLUTELY!!!!!

Around 11pm, we noticed a problem with our African Grey. She literally looked like she was going to pass away any moment. We called Arizona Exotic Animal Hospital and was able to leave a message for an emergency call back. We received the call and the on-call vet called us back. Luckily, she had started to act normal again, but the doctor still recommended we bring her in to get her checked out. He was very patient and acted like he truly cared - even if it was late at night.I called the next morning and was in shock when they said they could get me in the same day. We brought her in and the veterinarian gave her a complete exam while we waited in the car (due to Covid). When the exam was complete, Dr. Lamb gave us a call to go over her findings. She was extremely thorough in giving information, advice, suggestions, and patiently answered our questions without rushing to get off the phone. Our darling African Grey is doing well and has completely recovered. I am so pleased in the quality of service we received, and we felt everyone involved really cared. We were amazed at the reasonable cost for the exam and how they didn't try to do a bunch of unnecessary tests to pad the cost of the visit.I will definitely use Arizona Exotic Animal Hospital for all my feather family members!
