A Serenade of Serenity and Hospitality: Susie’s Sublime SactumAfter a ferry ride from Cold Bay by way of the Alaska Marine Highway we arrived at Seldovia. The natural beauty exceeded the Amalfi Coast in Italy, the Florida Keys, and the Pacific Coast Highway in California. Smiling at the dock we met our gregarious host “ Suzie “. After a quick tour of town we arrived at our accommodation. Idyllic in nature the house overlooked a bridge to the right and river to the left. The house was spotless and filled with decades of her paraphernalia accumulated before they moved from this location to their new house. The ensuing days were spent hiking, browsing, and multiple conversations with Suzie. Subsequently our future flight plan to leave became dubious. Only with Suzie’s calm demeanour and local knowledge were we able to fly out with no worries. She let us use her cell phone, offered additional days to stay in the event of plane cancellation, stay in her house while awaiting the flight, delivered our luggage to the airport, and even join her for a home cooked meal of her scrumptious fish pie. Suzie is an exceptional host and we were lucky to stay at her place.

Just had a fantastic 4 night stay at the waterfront cottage and highly recommend this place! Cozy cottage with beautiful artwork and detail everywhere. The kids loved the steep stairs up to the bedrooms on the 2nd floor. We loved the deck space - great for meals, watching the kids fish from the bridge a little further along the slough, and watching the bald eagles swooping in in the evenings. Perfectly located within walking distance of the harbor, restaurants, stores, and activities. Safe and friendly community - kids had free reign on their bikes. Suzie was a wonderful host and very easy to communicate with. We hope to be back next summer!

Where to start!Quite , clean , comfortable, private.The Decor is charming old style seascape.The light comes through the windows with a great place to relax on the comfy couch with a book. The cottage is a prefect combination of indulgence of comfort and the experience of being close to nature.The tide river is as close as a cabin will ever be to the water, Like being on a boat without the motion.Birds are in abundance and fly at eye level.Perfect place to renew the body and soul and bring focus to a relationship.Best place I have ever stayed.

This was our second time to Seldovia, and we loved having the opportunity to stay along the iconic boardwalk! Suzie's quaint and authentically Alaskan cottage on the water has stunning views and just invites you curl up with a good book and rejuvenate. Suzie was very responsive and helpful and accommodating during our stay! Would absolutely stay again! Thanks for another amazing visit to Seldovia Suzie!

Thyme on the Boardwalk was a wonderful place to stay. It’s beautiful, has the most comfortable king size bed, the best sheets and pillows. The building is stunning with wood beams, high ceilings, lots of natural light. Our host Suzie was lovely and accommodating. We had everything we needed. I can’t wait to come back.

My wife and I are approaching our last of 3 nights staying at the Boardwalk Waterfront Suite over Thyme on the Boardwalk. Our stay has been wonderful. If there is a nicer place to stay in Seldovia I would be very surprised. From our arrival where Suzie shuttled our stuff from the dock to now our experience has been perfect. The suite overlooks the tidal slough and the eagles gulls, swallows and ravens have been very entertaining from the perfectly sized little deck. The suite itself is beautiful post and beam construction and very well appointed. There is a kitchen with a stove/ oven, microwave and full size fridge for those inclined to cooking at home (but excellent seafood chowder and other delights are just a short walk away. The bathroom is large and has a very cool tiled shower. The bedroom is large and airy with an excellent king bed. The design was well thought out and is just right for a romantic getaway. To wake to the sound of the sea while cocooned in the fabulous king bed is exactly what the doctor ordered. It is perched on the old boardwalk in possible my favorite community in Alaska-Seldovia. There is much to see and do and everything is an easy walk from the suite. I intend to recommend this fabulous accommodation as often as I can and will for sure come back again.

We just stayed in the cottage at Thyme on the Boardwalk. (June 2018) It is a unique and wonderful little spot right on the water. The cottage is so eclectic and wonderful. The staircase to the 2 upstairs bedrooms is very, very steep, but it worked for our group of 8. Amazing deck space with eagles coming right over. We loved Seldovia, it was a highlight of out Alaska trip and Thyme on the Boardwalk made it even more perfect.

This place is just amazing. This cabin is counted as one of the best old style cabins. We had 6 people for two nights and it was a blast. They offer kayaks, motor boats, bikes, the owner even has a Cessna 206 in town and a big charter boat in the harbor. He took us out to the harbor on his little skiff for no charge. Also, the owner took us to jakaloff Bay on our departure to homer. When we got to homer we forgot the keys to our van. The lady took the keys to an airplane that flew them to homer in 20 min. Thanks Jack & Susan.

My wife and I wanted to get away for couple of days and found Thyme on the boardwalk in Seldova. Suzie was fantastic!! Very helpful, friendly and a wonderful Christian lady. The suite she had was gorgeous right on the waterfront. She has the cutest little nursery knickknack shop. It was so peaceful you will have a memory of a lifetime.

Yearly halibut trip Seldovia. First time we stayed at Thyme on the Boardwalk. 6 of us stayed in the cottage for 5 nights. By far one of the best places to stay in Seldovia. The owners were awesome. The cottage has everything you need for your stay. Been In Alaska 30 years and is one of the best place we stayed at. Can’t wait till next year.

We spent a week in this amazing little city and popped into this very cute shop a couple of times. The owner is an incredibly talented gardener - her cucumber plants looked better than ours in North Carolina! She was great with our young kids, teaching them a few botanical tidbits. We can't wait to get back to this neat little part of Alaska!

Didn't stay at the cottage (but would definitely stay here on next visit), just visited the Thyme on The Boardwalk curio shop.Fascinating collection of all things eclectic and unusual. Enjoyed the rummaging and discovering.

Wow, wow, wow. This place was magical. I highly recommend staying at the the suite for a few nights. Otters and eagles out your front window. Well appointed, light, and airy on the inside. Just amazing.

Cute store. Maybe a bit over-hyped (we were recommended it numerous times) for what it sells, but the building itself and the property and the nearby historic area is all part of the Seldovia experience.
