For anyone in the valley, Safeway is the place to go. It has most anything you might need, from barbecue supplies to cleaning materials to fresh produce and more. The employees are so sweet and helpful, always willing to give directions or exchange a joke. My dad has even formulated friendships with them, and even the owner. Once we had parked in the lot, and directly in front of our car seemed to be a man in a beat up car passed out. My dad, having social service work, went over and knocked on the window hard. The man was unresponsive. Dad then told me and my brother in the car to lock the doors while he went into the store to get help. The manager and some other employees came out and dealt well with the situation. The owner and employees really care for people. I will definitely be a loyal costumer here for years to come.

Convenient. Lots of choices and super helpful people working here. The produce is good but not great and my tomatoes were growing moldy the day after I brought them home. My favorite thing was chatting with the cashier Cliff after finishing our shopping, he was goofy in a good way.

Out of all of the grocery stores in Juneau, I choose to shop at Safeway. It's my favorite. From the angled, easy parking for your vehicle outside, to the location of the grocery carts that are easily found once you're through the main entryway doors, to the wide shopping aisles; what's there not to appreciate!?! I'm in major like with the flooring this Safeway location has within its fruit and veggie section; and, if there were just two critiques I would suggest it would be these: 1.) That awesome flooring? Spread it throughout the store and allow the whole store to be uplifted by the warm, homey vibe it gives off. 2.) Just as the Wal-Mart in Eagle River, AK tried to tie itself in with the surrounding landscape, by painting it's exterior to match that of the surrounding mountains, I feel Safeway could benefit from much the same. An exterior face-lit that incorporates deep, rich browns, dark greens, and is accented by the light, tan color that currently blankets the outside of the building would do wonders for it's curb appeal and would compliment the Safeway, red "S" logo immensely. Other than the above two suggestions, Safeway is by far the best grocery shopping experience, in Juneau, that one could ask for. Short lines that move quickly and far less congestion, (both inside and outside of the store), than Fred Meyer's. All of your grocery and pharmecutical needs can be found here, you can grab a Starbuck's coffee, eat food from the deli, grab a chair and sit for awhile if you'd like. And, if you're a mother, far better to shop where there's less for the kids to eye and desire than at Fred Meyer's too. Safeway isn't a super-store, where you have to bypass a gazillion things to purchase your groceries. It's a true grocery store in every sense of the word. Friendly check-out staff, not overly chatty but competent and polite nonetheless; and, if you're a mother (like me) who views grocery shopping as a mini-vacation when not having to cart your kids in tow... Safeway is the place to go! It's quiet, it's clean, and less busy than other stores. Part of the reason it's less busy is cost per grocery item; but, I would gladly pay pennies on the dollar more to buy from Safeway than a larger chain store like Freddie's any day of the week! I'll pay a premium price to go at my own pace, not feel rushed, and to enjoy some quiet where I'm not bumping into someone down every aisle I shop. Plus, with the Safeway rewards card there are great grocery prices and deals to be had; and, money off your gas at Safeway too. And, I don't know if it's just 'cause I'm partial to Safeway, but the gas I get there lasts and lasts and lasts in comparison to gas I get anywhere else; I guess my vehicle likes Safeway just as much as I do😉

It’s one of those places you don’t go at night. At least not by yourself. Shop during the day or you’re just asking to get robbed or mugged. Clerks are not very helpful. You can tell that they wished they were somewhere else rather than do their jobs.

Great place for all the standard groceries, plus a Starbucks built in. Ready to eat, grab and cook at home meals available, along with a few different food options for hot take-away. Great staff and good prices.

Your typical Safeway, only better. We discovered quite a selection of vintage & old fashioned sodas that were delightful, a variety of items more local & all of the staples we could need, all in one place. Down one star due to recent negative pickup experiences.

Yhey had $200 available for their Western Union. I was advised to go to Fred Meyer's, which was EXCELLENT customer service. However, my time was wasted while trying to get cash for an emergency.

Be ready to be disciplined for stealing. All they think about is pegging you for shop lifting. I was band from store for a year because they assumed I was with some guy that tried to dash out the door with a cart full of stuff. Wasn't with didn't know and got blamed for something I didn't do. When I check out I paid for the entire cost of my things with money left over. I was fine with not going back because they discriminated against me because of someone else's fault.

I have shopped at this local Safeway for years. It's staff is so nice 👍. The clerks know my first name! Their produce is fresh and the deli is convenient.

I like to visit Safeway every now and then for things I cannot find at my regular spot. They have a great selection of vegetarian options like the jackfruit taco filling. I like their produce section, especially their fruit. They used to have a great soda selection. I am hoping they get more of the unusual flavors like Fentimans' Rose lemonade. They carry the ginger ale sometimes and that is a treat!

Great place for a quick stop, my only complaint is the limited checkout lanes in the evening. I understand that there is limited staff but why not keep the self checkout open? Very annoying to wait for 15 minutes in the only lane available.

A shopping experience that will most likely have you wandering, have customer service standards and skills done a 180? I'm not saying there bad just set to a different standard there. Greetings, smiles, and how are U's are non existent. At the checkout stand you don't know if your going to get the not so laughing laughing taffy joke, or the other side of the manic of the two Pollar's. All in all it's a great place to shop, it's part of the Alaska experience.

Very polite produce staff! On the other hand, the self checkout female staff in the day time is very pushy. I was fully aware what was in my cart and she was hasseling me about what was in there as I was grabbing them out as fast as I could. She was also pushy with my two year old who was just sitting in the cart seat. They're the most expensive grocery store in Juneau. Anyway Juneau has plenty of other stores who respect regular customers just trying to get dinner on the table and I'll be taking my business there.

I love Safeway. Big selection and prices are competitive. The deli is almost always fresh and reasonable in price. The bakery is always great and fresh. Lisa Baily is the best bakery manager that's ever been there. The Safeway pharmacy is also awesome. Bob has always gone the extra mile to help me. Bobs staff is always kind and helpful even when they are busy. Safeway has excellent customer service, the store is always clean, and I the truly enjoy shopping there.

More expensive than other groceries. So you expect the quality would be good. But they are very limited in produce. I bought a packaged turkey breast and when I opened it the meat was bad even though expiration date said good until next year.

Susan in the floral department went above and beyond to make a bouquet that was both elegant and reasonably priced. She took direction over the phone and added a touch of professionalism, and beauty that I would not have come up with on my own. I am very thankful for her wonderful customer service, and abilities to make a memory, not just a floral arrangement.

They're very kind & courteous, they have a very nice staff. The produce is excellent, although it is a bit spendy. They have a huge selection aisle, a pharmacy, a bakery, a flower area, and a bank,& the a far left corner, they have an alcohol shop. Oh yes, they've also got a seafood department,& a VERY GOOD coffee shop. Nevertheless, There products are very good of quality, (excellent in my opinion), but as I said, they are a bit spendy on some thing's.🍌🍓🍅🌽🥕🥐🍎🍊🍇😋🏦

Everyone tells me how great Safeway is all the time and i should go there to shop. I have and i haven't had a bad experience yet. The only thing i can say is though, is that how product is paired up in the aisles is kinda confusing. Their deli has a wide variety of choices and their bakery is amazing😎

Ok for most things. Great deli. I don't recommend buying meat here and the produce department really needs help. Other area stores have a much better bakery department. Some items are price comparable, but most can be found cheaper at other stores.
