Self checkout is closed. One cashier and 8 people in line. DG sucks ! I buy less and less at DG. Soon I will just stop buying from them permanently unless I need something in an emergency. Horrible way to run a store. It was bad enough when there was a self checkout. Great business model, punish honest shoppers because you can't control your losses with skeleton crews in the stores for years. People running this company are pathetic and I'm being nice !

This store is one of the well kept DG. The store Manager and Assistant are always working to make sure the store is well stocked. The cashiers are all so friendly and helpful... Overall great shopping experience.

Not clean, not stocked well, and only friendly service depending on the employee you get. However, I blame corporate more than the employees. They shouldn't expect cashiers to stock and take care of customers in line. There is a reason that is two separate jobs in most other stores.

This store is always clean looks great. Friendly staff. They do have long line at times but that's because corporate won't allow them more hours to have more cashiers working. They put stuff on the shelf as soon as they get it. People don't realize that the truck only comes once a week.

Stopped by here on my way home to Jasper and I was really surprised by the cleanliness and order of the store. I've only really saw this in a couple of DG stores. Made my shopping and just looking around so enjoyable. The employees were helpful. But, checkout line was very long. Still give it 5⭐

This is one of my favorite DG stores. I like the layout and they don't seem to always have boxes in the aisles waiting to be stocked or understaffed with one person running to the register and trying to cover the floor. This location (Hwy 5) is also open until 10pm.

Employees are always nice no matter day they have had. Always ready to help out if needed. Store is remodeled & looks great & clean. But only down fall is they need more cashiers so no loong waits in line in evenings when everyones getting off work & ready to go home.

When I first visited this dollar general I only gave it 1 star because I could not give it a zero, but since they're renovation this dollar general is a very nice place to go get some essentials you might need and maybe some food too for dinner, the staff try so hard to keep up but I believe they don't have enough people they could use a couple more just to help so customers are not trying to get around pallet of boxes that need to be put away. The Staff there is friendly always trying to help.

Woodstock needs better, friendlier workers, they slow and are never offering to help. They act like your a bother for asking anything. I use this location simply because it's 5 min from home...I wish I had another option

Kira was the only cashier working, doing her best to get everyone's items scanned and paid for. An impatient customer decided to get an attitude when Kira asked if anyone needed ice since she was going outside already to get a bag of ice for a different customer. Kira handled it very professionally and just ignored him and still scanned his items for him. Kira seems to be a very respectful young woman. My friend and I who were also in line had to hold our tongues so it was surprising that Kira handled it so professionally.

The Dollar General in Centreville, Al. has really made a big improvement. The store used to have as many items on the floor as on the shelves but they recently changed the whole store to where all items are neatly put in their proper space and the employees are friendly. The Dollar General actually have clean floors and have improved in a huge way. Nice to shop there now.

The reason why some times you have to wait for a cashier is because they have other things to do other than standing at the register. If something is sold out then it will be stocked once the truck comes in. Isles are NOT cluttered. Boxes are not laying everywhere. And no need for name calling. If you don't like who works there or think they aren't doing a good job, apply to work there and see if you can do any better. Bet you can't.

We usually get most of our stuff from here but the last few times I went, the shelves weren't stocked and the store was a mess. The cashier's are usually very nice and helpful if I need anything. I would like to see all dollar general's have the same stuff. I have been to other dollar general's other than the one right by our house and i see a bigger variety of things and a larger stock of certain products

A good convenient place to make a quick stop. Bad part is there's usually only 1 cashier working and there'll be 2 or 3 employees on a smoke break at the same time so the check out line can get long and move slowly

My experience at the dollar general was absolutely horrible. The fat girl that said she was a manager there accused me of stealing when I had not taken anything. She searched my wife and made derogatory remarks about me because I didnt look like her hillbilly self. She was dressed like a child and hair unbrushed like she had rolled out of bed and went to work. She did not find merchandise on our persons and I will not be returning. Everyone beware because you might be accused of shoplifting if you go there.

I shop there regularly. It's convenient for me. The prices are great. My daughter and I compare prices and actually find some better. The employees are helpful. They stop and help if necessary and friendly. Yes I reccomend the store and will continue to shop there.

This is a large store and has much more stuff than the one in Centreville. This is a great place to run in and grab something quick or get a shopping cart and stroll around the store. Lots to choose from, prices are good but quality isn't that great.

Employees have always been friendly, fast and courteous. The "complete" package in customer service. If a smoke break is all you can find fault in I say give them a break! Go to Wal-Mart. They dont smoke by the front door you just cant find a human cashier (if you do they have a horrible attitude!)

The remodel makes it look better, but it's still kinda rough. New management with a fresh set of eyes looking at everything in the store would really help improve the entire store.

This dg is packed out 90% of times. They struggle to keep products on the shelf and dont organize the shelves. Dont expect to find what u need fast as you usually play wheres waldo with what your after.

I visit this store on the average day. Their store is convenient to me as I live in a rather remote area. They have everything I need. Not to mention, excellent employees that love their job.

Plenty of space to move between aisles without running over other customers. Great selection and variety of products. Cashiers need training. One cashier sitting outside in the plastic lawn chairs (merchandise you should try to sell not use as an employee lounge) in a heated phone conversation. Another cashier overcharged a customer. Honest mistake but had to get two other employees involved to learn how to fix it. The cashier we had didnt know if she could split payment methods told us she didn't know how to do the digital coupons she had been here four days. Hello..training? Digital coupons are a big deal for DG right now. See the company website and your receipt after purchase.

Great place to shop if you wanna hear the foul language and constant complaining from the employees. Walked to the register, I greeted the cashier asked how she was and she just stood there no reply nothing and literally acted like it was killing her to stand there and scan my items.

They usually only have one cashier at the register, even at their busiest times so service is usually real slow. If you don't want to wait in a long line, come when they open at 7am.

If you do not plan on stocking the shelves there is no need in pulling out the supply carts just to park them infront of what people may be looking for...We waited 4 mins for someone to check us out, as the employee was out smoking and talking to other people instead of watching the front.
