***Lack of Communication Regarding Post-Surgery Care***I recently took my shih tzu chihuahua mix to Kent Farms for neuter surgery, and while the surgical procedure itself went smoothly, I was disappointed by the lack of communication regarding post-surgery care. There were 4 issues I was not expecting:1. Severe matting of his fur all along his face and neck due to wearing the cone for the full 14 days as I was told. I did take off his cone after day 7 to check his fur and to my surprise it was all matted.2. The added and unexpected cost of grooming. His groomer said there was no other option but to shave him down, that’s how bad the matting was. He looks like an entirely different dog.3. Ineffective pain medication. I paid for pain and calming medications that ended up not working. When I asked the vet about this, they prescribed another medicine at full cost, which was surprising given all that was already paid for.4. The overall cost of pet neutering is ridiculously high. I don’t understand why vets make it so expensive to provide a service that is essential and basic to all pet ownership. They have “certificate” programs that help with cost but all the added expenses of medicine, unexpected grooming, and the unnecessary confusing options make it unaffordable and burdensome. What happened to spay and neutering prices under $100? Those did exist at one point.Overall, my experience was mixed, and I hope that they provide better communication so that pet owners can make informed decisions about their pets post surgery care.

We love Kent Dairy! We have been bringing our dog since she was a puppy and she gets so excited the second we turn onto their street! We love the staff and the excellent care they give our girl.

I recently moved back to Alabama and started taking my babies to Kent Farms! My little guy was neutered there as well. I cannot say enough great things about this clinic! We saw Dr. McKim and he was awesome!! Allison, one of the tech, was always a true gem!! She explained everything thoroughly and answered all my weird post op questions with no problems! My new home for my kitties!

My parents use this vet and have no problem with them but for me and my dog they were not the right fit. My dog suffers from a chronic condition called Addison's disease that requires monthly medication and monitoring. They never knew why he was there or the name of his injection. They didn't know when his blood work was needed. The front office staff is terrible and you can call and complain but the office manager will never call you back and I called more then once. At the end of day I think they are fine for routine dog care but nothing more then that. We have changed vets and are all the happier and healthier for it.

Friendly and helpful staff. They make a point to get to know your pet and start talking to them as soon as they meet. Vet is knowledgeable and shares their thoughts very well. Facilities are very clean and nice.

Boarded my pup there. She had her own suite and a television with a window view. The staff was wonderful and set my mind at ease. This was my first time leaving my pup and I was probably more nervous than she was..but I would absolutely use them again and highly recommend Kent Farms!

Was literally getting ready to switch my dog to them. Had records already released to us and everything when my fur baby got sick. I called to see if he could be seen on an emergency basis. They refused seeing a VERY sick dog due to “only doing vaccines on Saturdays.” Don’t waste your time here. They seem to only care about the bottom dollar. Oak View Animal Hospital in Hoover took great care of my baby. Unfortunately, he was in renal failure and had to be put to sleep. I will NEVER bring a dog to Kent farms. 10/10 recommend using Oak View instead, even if it is a bit of a drive!

I can't say enough about the professional yet kind and warm people at Kent Farms. We recently had to put down our 12-year old rescue cat, and it was extremely difficult to lose such a close family member. Dr. Close and her team were amazing in their warmth, care and support. They handle the complete lifecycle of your pets in a very professional and caring way. I can't endorse them enough.

Brought Kitty in for a bath. He was caked with mud from head to end of tail. When I got him back the same day, he was clean as a newborn kitten. The Dr. called to inform me his vaccinations were out of date. I agreed to have all brought up to date. I have used Kent Farms before for shots and boarding. The whole staff is wonderful. Highly recommend Kent Farms for all your pets care or boarding.

If you are looking for routine check ups and vaccines, this is an okay veterinary clinic. However, if you have a significantly ill animal, please take your baby elsewhere. My experience was horrible and I lost a very big part of my heart due to poor diagnosis and inappropriate care. To add to this, there was zero compassion. I was actually reprimanded by Nicole Close, DVM, for “verbally abusing” a staff member, which never happened, instead of voicing concerns about the prognosis and treatment of my beloved pet.

Took our dog, Boudreaux, there to get groomed today after a long time taking him elsewhere. I was so impressed with the facility, the customer service, and how quickly they finished grooming our XL doodle in 2.5 hours (other places took 5-6 hours). They did a great job as well. Will be going back for grooming and boarding.

I cannot sing enough praises about Kent Farms. We have had a very stressful week. We have 3 dogs, none of whom were patients. They were kind enough to work us in last Saturday after our youngest furbaby injured her leg. She will require knee surgery which they are able to do in house. Wednesday, our ancient Bassett hound, who we suspect had cancer, did some thing that injured the nerves in her hind legs. She was unable walk. She was over 16 years old. So we made the heartbreaking decision to have her put to sleep. They placed in a room set up like a living room and let us have as much time as we needed loving on her. When we felt it was time, they came into the room and gave her the injection. We were able to be with her when she left our world peacefully. The staff were so caring for her and us. I opened our mailbox today and there was a card from them with notes from all the staff and they had made a small canvas with Margie's footprint on it. Since we can't have her here in this world, we have this memento of her.To make things worse, our chihuahua mix baby was starting to cough and wheeze. Once again the worked her in on a Saturday. We found out she was in Congestive Heart Failure and with meds she still won't likely see Christmas. Throughout this the staff and Doctors have been top notch. I am a customer for life! They are the best at what they do!!!!! We are so thankful we found them!

I want to say that the vets here are great with my Diesel. Unfortunately I can’t say the same about the groomers Sarah and her helper. Throughout the last 2 years I have had several issues. I have made appointments to just get him a bath and them tell me they are unable to , after telling me I can just bring him in. I have made appointment’s months out and they get changed and no one has told me. No email, no call. I have left messages and they never emailed me back because Sarah makes her own appointments. She never calls back or emails back. Months have went by. Her appointment’s are booked out up to 6 months out. Just because she is the only groomer around. When they cut his face (he is a morkie) one side is long then the other. I can fix the little stuff but the little stuff adds up. He is literally 4.5lb maybe. And after grooming today he smelled so bad. Like a strong baby powder and over whelming old man , mixed with car oil. I have asked several times to not put that cheap, over powering, smells like butt stuff on him. My request falls on deaf ears. I literally have to go home after he has been at the vet all day, traumatized and wash him again. Like the first time of the day wasn’t bad enough for him. So, that makes me angry. Then I still have to pay to redo a job I paid 65.00 for. The vet just said I will get them to chart it. The fact that it should be charted after 2 years just tells me that they pay no attention to the charts. So, beings the grooming appointments are backed up for months. The groomer today asked receptionist why I canceled all of his appointments they proceeded to act like they didn’t just have a conversation with me about having to bath him again because it stunk I mean loud stunk. I couldn’t breath, he couldn’t breath. I can’t have my bedding, couch or me smell that. If I wanted my house to smell like a 100 lb dog I would have gotten one. Which come to think about it the receptionist don’t get me started…something else that fell on deaf ears also about his medical records and billing for insurance purposes.Groomers are short so I guess as long as Sarah gets paid for the bad service she will continue to provide it.As for anyone in need of a groomer go somewhere else. Pay someone to wash your dog and your dog not smell. That way you’re not doing someone else’s job after your dog leaves Kent farms grooming.

We were very impressed with this clinic from the front desk staff to the techs to the vet. We will definitely keep taking our dog there for his medical care!

Our sweet kitty, 15 years old, suddenly started acting upset, and we final determined that she was in pain. We thought it might be constipation. I called Kent Farms office during lunch and was told that they were booked for the afternoon, but to come in as a walk-in. We were immediately placed in a private room, and our kitty was seen in about 15 minutes. The doctor quickly diagnosed her with a urinary track infection. He gave her a shot to quicken her recovery, and gave us 2 weeks of antibiotics. She started getting better in less than 3 hours! They were all professional, comforting, skilled, and friendly. Thank you so much!

Stay away! Took my dog there for an emergency for them to tell me they are unable to properly treat him and to take him to the emergency vet after paying over 300 to them. They gave him to me and he passed away in my car a mile from their facility. Lack of compassion! They knew my animal would not make it to the next facility, but didn’t care period!

It has taken me some time to write the following review. Kent Farms Animal Hospital surpassed our expectations. Even when I family were facing the unexpected, they still surpassed it all.We cannot truly express how amazingly caring, considerate, courteous, gentle, kind, patient, time taken to explain things, care for our fur baby during her last stage of life, etc. I could go on and on.The team gave us time to say our farewells. The setting could not have been more helpful. Our fur baby did not pass away on a cold table or floor, but she transitioned while laying on a comfy couch. The Vet and her team did not rush us and told us to take all the time we needed. They showed such sincere concern in their eyes for us.They shocked us after our fur baby transitioned when we received a personal card from their team. Each person wrote a kind note to us and we could tell that they cared. They did not have to add that special touch. No place had given our fur baby the care that she received at Kent Farms Animal Hospital. We already know where our soon to be new fur baby will be taken care of at. A place that treats your pet and you as part of their family.

This is now the only vet I will take my husky to. They take such great care of her and she never leaves there scared. My girl is a senior at 13 years old and they are so patient with her and kind. You can truly tell the staff love what they do!

I wish I could give them 10 stars! They are pretty new and everything is top notch. The vets and staff are very caring. Everything is set up with the comfort of the animal in mind. We often use the doggy daycare (it's called something else). Our dog absolutely loves it! He is excited every time we pull into the parking lot. It has a set up for both rain or shine. And the runs are beautiful. Not at all like fenced in cages. They know all our animals by name. Just can't say enough good things about them!

I would give a 0 we took our dog in with cherry eye. The tech came in and told us she will needs surgery right off the bat. The veterinarian had not even looked at her. Then she told me they needed to put eye drops in to make sure she could use eye drops. Then a few min later they brought my dog back saying they couldn’t do anything with her because she was so upset. They wanted to charge me $60 for nothing. They said they couldn’t even get her weight. I didn’t know you can charge people for no services performed. The office manager wouldn’t come talk to me so I left. The first time we went there it was pretty good. Now I would never go back.

I dropped my dog off bright and early at 7 am (first one there) for her groomers appointment I never received a call so I decided to drive up there to see what’s going on and was told they just got her on the bed at 2:12pm I was told she would be done in about 45 mins and was told I would be called (I was not) so I drive up again at 4:50 pm and she was finally done! I appreciate the service done on my dog but I just don’t know why I wasn’t called or why it took so long this is the second time I wasn’t called.

We had our first visit today with our 2 mini schnauzers to meet their new vet and for one of them to have an annual wellness checkup. Dr. McKim took the time to tell us what to expect so far as future planning to keep our babies well and was great about answering questions. Our groomer, Sara, even came in to love on them! I feel we have come to the right vet to get the best care for our babies.

I have an allergy dog and he requires pretty frequent visits to the vet. Kent Farms has some of the better pricing I've seen and I really feel like they listen to me when I have questions and concerns and do their best to answer those questions. We've only been using this vet for a short time but I am very pleased with the care we've received from them so far. The only potentially negative thing I could say is that it feels like their front office is still trying to figure things out, but even that has improved a lot since we first started going there. All in all it's a great vet and you can't beat the convenience of the location.
